by the way i have got my two wheeler license riding my 350 cc Bullet motorcycle. you have to do a figure of 8 three times non stop on the bike without putting your foot on the ground and its is not an easy thing to do on a bullet. so i did it twice and on third put my foot once on the ground but the Vehicle inspector had some sympathy it seems ( small kid on big bike theory) and passed me.

i hope the rules are still the same.

i like the "Learning to ride" thing on a ninja ( for India ) good going there.
well maybe in ur time it wud hav been possible but i just checked the gov website 5 mins ago . it says that if ur 16 and hav a learner's license u can only ride a 50cc or below bike and that too gearless .

i forgot to mention the age - you have to be 18 years completed + learner's license till you have a go on the ninja.

      • Happy Republic day fellow Ninjians.... but it was a sad day for me today...
I had gone with the Tvm xBhp for a Republic day ride to Ponmudi (a hill station 60kms away from the city)... the ride was fun with a good line-up, Ninja fan following and everything but on the way back, a P220 in front of me panic braked on a turn, i was tail-gating too close and panic braked myself to stop but my Ninja skidded and dropped... luckily, the speed was really less and the bike only fell down and didn't slide...

Damage: Minor scratch under 'Ninja', minor scratch on the right hand handle weight and lever, right indicator came off (should be able to put it back)...

Thanks to the crash bobbins, there is no major scratch on the fairing, as per theory, the bobbin broke due to the fall, i was able to put the bobbin back and continue the rest of the journey...

special thanks to BV for the step-by-step procedure on lifting the bike after a fall, I was able to lift the bike with ease...

yeah, the interesting part is i didn't feel sad over the fall maybe because i am aware of the mistake I did... since I wear the protective gears (thanks to all the exp and advices shared in xBhp) I was able to escape from getting any injury...

Well, I'd still say it was your lucky day because nothing happened seriously to burn holes in your wallet. BTW, any damages to the P220?

                PS - I hope it wasn't Jayamohan sir's P220

                  • hey guys!

Both harsha and myself (xbhp members and ninja riders) have gotten a mileage of 20kmpl after our 300km ride today! we did constantly stay above 155kmph and certainly over 140kmph for 250km of the journey. our highway average speed was just over 130kmph so wondering if any of you have got the same returns at those speeds over a long distance...

p.s. i did get a mileage return of over 30kmpl during an xbhp group ride wherein we kept our speeds under 100kmph (mostly 80kmph) for 90% of the distance (300km ride again) hence am wondering if you guys got the same numbers...

sorry about the fall, but do you think that the tyres of the ninja has poor grip and is the reason for the skid ?

                          same here.

today I have done my first trip(217km) on my ninja. had great time. Most of the time I tried to keep under 4k(as my odo is 465) but cant control myself and touched 9k on DND toll road in delhi. I just cant explain. awesome.
hoping that my engine is not break out.

irc have really good grip as they are track ready. but you know Indian roads.
little sand or stones can easily dis-balance the bike.

correct me if I am wrong.

I had got approx 40kmpl during the Kerala G2G when the speed was kept at 80kmph (keeping the rpm between 6K-7K)...

however, during city rides, i get only an average of 20-25 kmpl...

No, I haven't felt the Ninja's tyre grips are poor. I have been able to do cornering well and safe till date. The incident which happened with me today was beacuse I did a panic braking with excessive front braking (naturally was going for the 70:30 braking ratio) at a turn keeping the bike inclined.

Ideally, I should have pulled the bike upright and made the handle straight before braking. (Experienced rider, please correct me if I'm wrong)
