update please ... with some details and your suggestions.Originally posted by bluevolt View PostThere is no behavior
The bike does not start at all - the starter motor turns, but the engine does not. I suspected a dislodged vehicle down sensor under the tank or ECU unit coming out its slots and being bumped out, but after I checked it personally, it was not. The spark plugs were clean and the gaps were within tolerance as well. I ran the self diagnosis after that, and it pointed out it to be a throttle sensor issue.
So Prasanna will come down to my house and check it out.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

20%, IDV for my Ninja is now Rs. 2,28,991. For metallic part claims, HDFC ERGO would pay 90% of the value as my vehicle is in 2nd year.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostHow much has the IDV (Insurer Declared Value) gone down by?
I am based out of Delhi, not sure if IDV differs based on location.
Also, I have claimed once from my previous insurer Oriental insurance for a bent rim, which was a claim of around Rs. 23,500. So, now insurer will give me a no claim bonus.
I checked with New India Insurance and ICICI lombard as well, they were also giving similar IDV of around 2,27,000. But were charging more than Rs. 4500 as premium.
The only person I could check giving higher IDV was IFFCO TOKIO, around Rs. 2,47,000. Premium was just over Rs. 4000.

Ok, 20% depreciation is the norm. Good you got a fine deal!Originally posted by n_venki_2001 View Post20%, IDV for my Ninja is now Rs. 2,28,991. For metallic part claims, HDFC ERGO would pay 90% of the value as my vehicle is in 2nd year.

You are welcome, my friend! Let the DIY culture spread!Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostThank You Mr. Rahul (BV) for the FI SM of NINJA.
My friend was hunting for it !
Talking of updates on my bike, the engineers from probiking made a house call to check what was wrong with my bike. After spending a few hours, they narrowed it down to a throttle assembly malfunction, so they went back to the station and got a back-up assembly which they fitted into my Ninja and the engine finally started!
They took the bike to the service station where they will run further test and will also replace the parts.
The bike did not start in the morning after getting a full tank the night before so perhaps it has something to do with the fuel quality? Like clogged injectors or fuel filter? The pores in the injectors are really really tiny, so even a small speck can cause a malfunction.
Let see what the final report is in a few days!

The insurance policy on my Ninja is going to expire next month and i need to renew it. Presently it is insured by Oriental Insurance Co.
Here are the details on the current insurance policy.
IDV - 262,877/-
Premium - 5314/-
If i renew with Oriental then i am entitled to a NCB of 20%.
My premium for 2nd year will be Rs. 4155/- and IDV will be Rs. 249,000/-.
However i was thinking of renewing the policy with some other provider and I did some homework. Here are the results...
1. ICICI Lombard
Premium -3847/-
IDV - 259600/-
Add-on's: Cashless claim. Towing charges reiumbursable upto 1.5k/-
Coverage - 1L for self and 1L for 3rd party. For an extra Rs. 325/- over the premium, coverage increases to 3L for self and 3L for 3rd party (IDV unchaged).
2. HDFC Ergo
Premium - 1655/-
Coverage - 1L for self and 1L for 3rd party
I tried getting information from Iffco Tokio, Bajaj Allianz, Reliance and Tata AIG but no joy so far.
Please let me know which company to go for considering i prefer a hassle free experience in the event of a claim (God Forbid!). I dont want to run around for a surveyor, to get him to approve the claim and finally for my cheque. Cashless is best and an overall smooth process of filing a claim and getting reimbursement is most preferred.
I tried the online option in Bajaj Allianz and the IDV was calculated at 3.5L (
) which is more than the OTR price of the bike. Called the toll free number and the rep was confused too.
He asked me to visit the branch for the correct information.
I'll need to decide by the end of the week so first hand experiences will be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the replies.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

I'm not sure how it is for PBK - but most car dealers have a tie-up with some insurance company, for easy processing, etc., and also they get to make a buck during renewal time. I prefer to go with these because the experience if and when a claim arises is normally painless due to the existing relationship between the two.
I daresay that the PBK dealer will also have the same kind of tie-up. I crashed 3 months after I got the bike and the claim process was absolutely hassle free since the insurance company ( Oriental ) was the one that PBK used when I bought the bike.

Thanks Sunny. Prasanna (The service manager at PBK Blore) was suggesting HDFC Ergo. I heard this from another ninja owner. Although the premium on HDFC is low (Less than 2k) the IDV is also lowest across other providers (as low as 10k+ compared to others).Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! Anyway, I plan to shop around on Saturday and renew it before the current one expires which is on 3rd May.
Will post more details here when i am through.
BTW, ICICI Lombard was a pleasant experience when i called the toll free #. But this may be just the opposite in the event of a claim. Hope its otherwise.
