Gear oil(?) leak
Guys,
The attached pic if of the part right below the gear lever (attached to the gear pegs...not sure bout my terminology). The oil was dark and thick. I had a look at the engine oil (from glass bubble on the other side of the engine), it too looked similar. Is the leakage anything to be worried about. No incident(s) what-so-ever on this side of the bike. The leakage is not continuous...I cleaned that part and checked it today...nothing...Just wondering if anyone has encountered something like this before?
Cheers,
Amod.

First any of the above such job's will void your warranty. Secondly with almost everyone on the road honking their brains out you'll only be adding to the noise pollution. No one cares or moves at the sound of a horn anymore cos the usage is so rampant.Originally posted by harsha645 View Posti feel that horn on the bike doesnt suit to it...so i wanna change it. wen i asked mech at pbk..he told he need to put some weldin and all that...but every time i call him abt this ..he allways avoid and say to come tomorrow and prolonged.....any other options to get horn for that??
Its like a stress buster rather than an emergency button.
Did you drop the bike? If not check the oil seals. If the rubber seals have ruptured it could leak oil. Also it could be that the rubber washer was displaced for some reason. Better take it to the service center and have it checked.Originally posted by A-mod View PostThe oil was dark and thick. Dropped the bike, but on the other side...the leak's no more there...as I'd mentioned, I cleaned that part and checked it today afternoon. Which rubber seals are you talking bout Aditya? As in location on the bike...that'll be a huge help...Originally posted by n_aditya View PostDid you drop the bike? If not check the oil seals. If the rubber seals have ruptured it could leak oil. That could be excess chain lube/grime flowing outta the front sprocket!Originally posted by A-mod View PostDropped the bike, but on the other side...the leak's no more there...as I'd mentioned, I cleaned that part and checked it today afternoon. The horn on the 250, is more than adequate, and is in fact louder than regular bikes. I suggest you stick to it and dont experiment much, and void warranty.Originally posted by harsha645 View Posti feel that horn on the bike doesnt suit to it...so i wanna change it. wen i asked mech at pbk..he told he need to put some weldin and all that...but every time i call him abt this ..he allways avoid and say to come tomorrow and prolonged.....any other options to get horn for that??

That's exactly what it looked like to me. I get similar stains when I ride after lubricating the chain - only on the left side. Should be ok unless you find that the leak is persistent.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThat could be excess chain lube/grime flowing outta the front sprocket!

My rear wheel alignment was off after the tyre change by around 5mm. Finally I got time today to fix it myself. Now the alignment and chain slack is ideal.Originally posted by killer_instinct View PostThanks buddy... these are the same size 130/70-17 but look bigger than the IRC stock.
How about yours, did you check after the change?
Except for the dial, nothing new really. The black seat was part of 2008-2009 250's anyway.Originally posted by nitro66 View PostNinja got some cosmetic changes. now speedometer changed to white color(Still analog),rear seat is now black and clipon's nuts get cover and some more.

On both sides of the swingarm, there is a rectangular piece(see below) which is mounted between the axle nut and the swingarm. This rectangular piece has a center marking by way of a vertical line.Originally posted by gautam View PostWe know you are a good DIYer, but how did u check nd fix the alignment

On the swingarm area which is below this piece, there are markings of vertical lines and a "+" in the center. If the center line of both the left and right rectangular piece does not align to the "+" sign, then it means that the wheel is not aligned properly. In my case, the left one was aligned with "+" mark, but the right (exhaust side) one was off by 4mm or so.
Open the cotter pin, and then loosen the main axle nut on the right side. Then using a spanner, tighten the nuts which are on the bolt which protrudes backwards from the swingarm (this has too nuts on it, one small and one big). Tightening this will push the wheel axle from the right side, so stop when the center mark aligns with the "+" sign on the swingarm. When that happens, just put the main axle nut and the cotter pin in, and tighten as necessary.
Done!

hill ride test
took the ninja today to yelagiri hills for a spin. as expected all hairpin bends were on first / second while going up. i did not want to get caught if i had to apply brake on an hairpin bend and dont have power to pull out immediatly. you have to work hard on the gears to maintain the torque. it is understandable for a 250 cc.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water
