Thanks for the tips, will ensure i take care of all the points.
that much throttle control is normal. What i meant was accelerating in 2nd/3rd/4th or any gear, and letting the engine slow the bike down. Release engine by pressing clutch and use the brakes. This will help letting the brakes bed in as well.

Also for the first 70-100 kms, avoid hard cornering or over leaning, since the tyres are new, and they need 70-100 kms to wear down the smooth surface and actually start gripping properly.

Go with the feedback the bike gives, and try and do the running in at the coolest time of the day ( late night or early morning ). Ive run-in all my bikes ( R15, Ninja, RXZ, T-bird ) like this, and no issues faced.

I sat on the bike and thumbed the starter, the bike came to life and I felt like I just got struck by lightning. All the dreams I had accumulated over the last 17 years just flashed through my eyes in an instant.

Pressed the clutch and put it into gear, smooth. Slowly released the clutch and got the bike out of the basement on to the road.

I was amazed how natural it felt. I felt like I have been riding this bike all my life. Its beautifully balanced, the engine is extremely smooth and makes you feel like you are a part of it. Never have I ever felt so comfortable riding a bike within the first two seconds.

My wife then sat on the pillion, she is about 5'6" but I still had to tilt the bike to allow her to perch herself on the throne. We rode from there to the Bajaj service station where we were to be briefed by the service manager. After completing that formality, we had to go and get it filled with Speed/Shell unleaded. It had only 3.5L of fuel and it is recommended to keep it above 5L so I chose to go to the closest pump next to Leela on Old Airport Road.
6 pm and there was quite a lot of traffic on the road but the Ninja never made me feel like this was its maiden ride. The only issue I was afraid was that of the bike getting heated up. It did but not too much. The temp remained under the red area.

Then I took a shortcut to go back home on OMR and met some of Bangalore's famous speed breakers. But another surprise was in store for me. Even though there were two people on the bike, it didnt touch a single speed breaker. Even the one which I have scraped on the Menace.

One thing is there for sure, it does get you a lot of attention with everyone staring, wanting to touch and sometimes coming too close for comfort though.

As of now the Ninja has done 30kms and I will be maintaining the 4K rpm limit until 800 kms. Have been given some tips from Aditya on running in and knowing him, I know i am in safe hands.

The light is awesome, even in low beam and lights up the road very well.

so there is a catch here. generally ninjas are spot on without any troubles whatsoever necessitating the warrenty.

so that is what it is.
oh okay. thanks for the info bro. hopefully i wont need the warranty.

i'm planning to get a bike by jan or so. there are no ninja's for sale in chennai. found one is AP. all of them are quoting above 2lacs. hoping to find one for less than 2 or as well go for the cbr but then cbr is coming in april i wouldnt use the bike much after 8months. so in a dilemma.

Ragarding idling, If the bike's engine is cold (not upto optimum temp), the idle is around 2.5K RPM. It takes about 3~4 minutes to reach around the normal ~1350 RPM.

But after this warming-up session, the idle remains the same in all kinds of traffic.

hissing from fuel tank is normal. from brakes you need to check out the same at PBK.

there is the idle throttle sensor which controls the idle at a higher RPM till the engine warms up. after that it switches over to normal.

          • Need Help

Finally I booked my green Ninja. 40k is the booking amount. well I m planing to visit delhi tomorrow for buying some riding gear. In the name of riding gear I just have one thing that is helmet(studds). I know it is not up to the mark but I think it is OK for my run-in period. I'll upgrade it later. Now I think First thing I need is frame slider than riding jacket than glove than knee guard than boot than other thing.
Please help me which frame slider, riding jacket and glove I should prefer and if You Know any place in delhi please tell me.

Wrong !!! its the other way around actually.

First, you need the gear, then the bike needs it. whats the point in protecting the fairing while you are nursing a busted knee or ankle? hospitals are boring dude.

+1 .agree with u but if there is a single scratch on bike it ll hurt more than any thing

Thanks man. I guess I will be a little conservative with the break in. Not exactly 4K but not 6K either in the first 800 kms.

Well, well! Another Ninja joins the Bangalore gang. Welcome! I remember my days before I got the Ninja, my wait was for the Indiranagar showroom to open first and then the Ninja later. But I was lucky and got the bike in 20 days instead of the mandatory 90 days back then!

Do a Bangy-Chennai-Bangy in one day. That's what I did to get rid of the first 800 km run in bother!

frame sliders are generally for protecting the frames and not the fairings. They were designed to protect the handcrafted or expensive metal frames of track bikes. In any case in order to install the slider you will need to cut your fairing a bit so there not much point in installing it to protect your fairing. Also in case of a fall the slider will not protect the fairing from a scratch rather it could result in a sudden jerk in case the sliders gets stuck in the ground.

all the best for gear hunting ...

what's surprises me is it's the same brakes which never made any noise earlier only after the replacements of brake shoes it's prominent, anyways as nobody pointed it to be a point of worry, so it's ok.... the bike has passed the loyalty test The love continues ...

you mean the brake pads ...
the sound might be because of new pads and should fade out in some time ... just check if you are able to move the bike by pushing easily else the brake pads are too close to the discs and you need to get them realingned

                              1. Frame sliders also protect the fairing in addition to the frame itself.

                              2. You dont need to cut the fairing at all to install the frame slider. There are no cut frame sliders available. I have the Puig frame sliders and its a bolt on accessory. Didnt have to modify anything on the bike. No cuts, no welds.

                              3. sliders can't get stuck into the ground. Worst case scenario, in the event of a crash while the bike slides on the road, the frame slider can hit a rock or pothole causing a pivoting effect resulting in flipping the bike.

do frame sliders help in a pot hole ridden or uneven road surface which is what most indian roads are?
