Also, fingers are a lot more sensitive to lever inputs than a shoe-clad foot. And fingers cannot apply as much force to overcome resistance as the foot can do almost unthinkingly. So any anomalies will be only too apparent with the front brakes and will make you uncomfortable enough to get them fixed up. If the pads start dragging, you'll feel the lever tighten up almost immediately. The foot takes quite some tightening to realize its pushing more. A spongy front brake lever is also caught earlier. Dragging front brakes will have a far stronger retarding effect on the bike than dragging rear brakes. In a nutshell, the front will tell you earlier, a lot earlier than the rear about its problems.
Again, with floating calipers, make sure the pins are free by moving the caliper body sideways.
