So the new pads explain the reduced free-play. Nice. It is important to be familiar with normalcy to sense abnormality. This has been an educative process for us all here. Thanks for your updates.

Because a front brake-lock would be a goner.
The front will not lock up the way the rear can. Weight transfer thing actually. You can almost absentmindedly lock up the rear while applying rear brakes but it needs more than a conscious effort to lock up the front.

Also, fingers are a lot more sensitive to lever inputs than a shoe-clad foot. And fingers cannot apply as much force to overcome resistance as the foot can do almost unthinkingly. So any anomalies will be only too apparent with the front brakes and will make you uncomfortable enough to get them fixed up. If the pads start dragging, you'll feel the lever tighten up almost immediately. The foot takes quite some tightening to realize its pushing more. A spongy front brake lever is also caught earlier. Dragging front brakes will have a far stronger retarding effect on the bike than dragging rear brakes. In a nutshell, the front will tell you earlier, a lot earlier than the rear about its problems.

Again, with floating calipers, make sure the pins are free by moving the caliper body sideways.

        • baby ninja after 1st service

Hey guys! a region on my radiator was fully covered in mud prior to my first service so I specifically told the guys I wanted the mud to be cleaned off the radiator but they forgot! I collected the bike in a hurry as i had to go back home early so didnt notice it :-(

So after i got back home i decided to clean it myself with a hose (very low pressure) and mainly by brushing it delicately with a used toothbrush immersed in water. I cleaned it vertically so as to not bend the fins but i think i may have damaged them and I'm worried if it would have a negative impact on my ninjas performance.

here are the pictures of two areas, undamaged and damaged (i think). Undamaged areas having curved fins and damaged one with sharp edged fins.

What should i do if its damaged as in should I replace it or does it come under warranty? How much does it cost approximately! I really am careful with my baby but i guess i've screwed up! Any opinion would be much appreciated

I dont see any damage that needs a replacement of the radiator.

It is normal for some fins to bend and sometimes you will also see small stones or sand particles wedged in between the fins. Dont worry about it.

Best way to clean the radiator (IMO) is to first rinse it with cold water for a few mins to loosen the mud and grime. Then run your hand over the radiator while still directing water from a hose on the radiator. Use a brush only after this to remove any stubborn dirt particles. Always brush in a vertical direction and always ensure water is flowing on the radiator while cleaning it.

If something is wrong with the radiator. It shouldnt directly affect the performance. But you will see the bike running hot and crossing the max operating temperature threshold (into the red area of your temp gauge).
If this is the case, pull the bike over immediately and let it cool down and get it to PBK ASAP.

There is no serious damage to be worried over.Over a period of time the fins will see some bending but is not an issue,so long as it is not on a large area.Whenever you want to clean the fins wait for the cooling to take place.NEVER HOSE A HOT RADIATOR.First make it wet and then after 5 minutes use slightly higher pressure water to clean it.Remember to keep the radiator full and with the recommended coolant...More heat damage is caused in not following it rather than by radiator fins going a little out of shape.
