  • Update on the vibes!

    Folks...

I took the bike to the Svc station near my place, on Friday, to get the vibes issue sorted. The Svc manager was genial & paid careful attention to what I had to say. Then he had his lead service engineer take a trial run, who then concurred that there are more than normal vibes with my bike & it just had to do with loose engine mounting. They did a complete check of all the bolts & tightened them; the svc engineer then rode the bike again & came back & said the vibes are arrested to an extent. I took the bike for a ride again & did feel that the vibes were considerably lesser; but still could feel my loins tingling (pardon the expression!) due to the vibes. Sensing my disconcerted look the Svc manager/engineer then showed the bikes that had turned up for first service & those that were new (in the PDI section of the showroom) - every single bike had those vibes; some much more and mine seemed to be more refined than the lot.

The Svc manager then assured that it would subside & become refined as the engine is run-in & breaks-in; sure would hope so. But, surprisingly after that over the last 2 days, I had put in more mileage & the engine has become a bit more smooth; in brief bursts from 5k to 6k, it was very good, way better than it used to be. Although, it is not that smooth for a brand new engine (as it used to be on my Apache 150 & Honda Aviator), I think that running in would help.

But other aspects, like braking, handling & stability are very good; of special mention is the cross-wind stability; for a such a light bike, it is delightfully sure footed.

I'd agree with Nipunblaze on the seat front - it is hard & for the initial few days I had a sore bum, to the extent it became unbearable. But for the last couple of days, things are better; maybe my bum got used to it! Otherwise, she is an accomplished bike & with those vibes in the right places(!) she has a horny aspect too!!!

@ Alok Sam - Sorry to hear that, bro. Hope you're able to get it back soon.

    • Yes.. already informed the Police & the Insurance Company. Police said that

Good chances of finding the bike is within 2 to 3 days... After that cant say.. 3

months or a year or even never..

Insurance Agency are sending a surveyor on Monday to inspect.. Well I guess, I need to give some Chai-Pani to the Surveyor to get things rolling fast..

I guess I will also keep a watch here.. which colour is it? Coz its common for bike thieves to take it to a nearby city for use/selling. Many a times, they may be able to open the handle lock / ignition, but not the fuel tank. Calculate range depending upon amount of petrol that was inside and give the police a heads up on till where could it have reached. My friend's P150 was abandoned on the side of Nasik-Pune highway as it ran out of fuel and the thieves couldn't open the tank.

P.S.: The aforementioned P150 was found 4 months after it was stolen and it was at a police station 35km away from Nasik (Place it was stolen) since day 2.

Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

          • It had petrol of around 2 lit. so max it can go 120 kms.

No custom marks, but a scratch on the left leg guard and rusted mark on the tip of Left handle bar.

Also the plastic on the bike was not removed.

Guys My bad: Its MH 12 FX 4743.. its a Red Pulsar 135 LS - 20 Days Old..

                • The battery has conked out again, even after they filled fresh acid during first service. I use the self starter only once or max twice a day, and I always start for the first time with kick start. Fellow owners, how many times a day do you use the self starter? Are there any problems? Am wondering if my battery is a lemon.

                      That's a good news.

Why are you bothered, since its a new bike most of the amount will be covered under Insurance.

You must thank god that you got your bike, I have seen my friends who have been kept waiting as long as 6-8 Months to get the Insurance amount for the theft vehicles & add to it the Chai paani you must provide for the police as well as Insurance agents.

                            • First Service Update

Guys, got the 1st service done last week & the bike is a bit more refined than before. The vibes are in between 3k and 4k rpm though. The engine sounds with a bit more grunt, which is a welcome change. Gearshift has become butter smooth (this is a great aspect in this bike, which so far has not got me any false neutral). I just hit reserve this evening (after 630 km); I had tanked up on the day of delivery (filled it with 12 lit of BP's normal brew), although the manual says the tank's capacity is 8. I believe the mileage works out to 57 so far. Am yet to do a reserve-to-reserve FE calculation, but I'm pretty sure it should hit 55kmpl (with restrained city riding).

@ Alok Sam - Congrats on getting your ride back, bro. The days of waiting should've been nothing short of traumatic. As others have said, the insurance should take care of the missing bits.

@ nateriver - I don't think we can top-up the battery with distilled water as it is of the SMF type (sealed maintenance free); correct me if I'm wrong.

Get your warranty claimed theres a battery warranty card in the manual.
Usually I use kick in the morning and then rest of the day the self.
Mine usage would be around 5 to sometimes 10 times a day.
I think the bike is pretty power hungry as its all DC elecs and continuous usage of self with Headlight may be the cause our. One thing you can do is check with multimeter the voltages of the bike before starting and after if its continuous in the range of 12V for some five minutes or so then it might be okay.
