yap, the stock RTR's front caliper got stuck (need to clean it regulary and it's quite irritating for me), so the pad ARE always touching the disc..maybe you want to check it out by put the bike on centre stand, and turn the wheel by hand..mine can turn smoothly almost like without any resistance

i change the front caliper with the single piston, and TADAAA!!! it never stuck anymore, and the bike runs so light...got better acceleration with this mod..

for noise from your pads, i suggest you to change the pads with the better quality one...for front you can use the kawak's ninja 250 pads..for rear, maybe you should check rear pads for unicorn dazzler, cbr150, r15, or pulsar (but i doubt about pulsar's pad due different caliper model)..

      • I own an Apache FI I bought it on 2009 last month the engines bearing broke so I changed it through the TVS service center now The Bike struggles to climb up in hills and also sometimes when I throttle hard the bike at 5th/4th gear when speed is lesser then 50 It feels like the bike is having trouble to exhaust and turns off automatically! no misfiring and I changed the Air filter too

I don't know wats the problem can ya please help?

        • Hey guys, i was looking for chain cleaning liquid, lubricant, and grease for my RTR160, i have read a lot about this stuff in RTR thread but m confused. Some please tell me the best tried and trusted brand and the place where i can get it from Delhi too, along with the prices if you please. (:
And maybe one or two points about washing the bike and then oiling/greasing/lubricating the chain and other necessary parts.
Except for bicycles, everything else: i learned to ride it in "Grand Theft Auto"!

                    • Hey guys here is a review of the shell advanced ax-7 engine oil for anyone who cares.

                      1. Gear shifts have become butter smooth. I didn't know my rtr had such a nice gearbox before. Also the number of false neutrals and missed shifts has become almost zero.

                      2. Engine has become very free revving. Especially lower and mid RPM ranges. I can pull off from 2kRPM in 4th gear without fear of stalling.

                      3. Vibrations have decreased significantly except for the 5k-6k RPM range which I think is the resonance for my bike. It feels especially smooth at 4k and 8k RPM ranges.

                      4. When downshifting gear engages perfectly. Before this I used to feel a little jerk whenever I downshifted. I do blip the throttle everytime I downshift.

I'm writing this after 250km of riding with this oil. I have only used Castrol Power 1 and TVS Tru4 before this.

I dont know much about that.
But all I can say is this TVS chain spray is more than enough for our dry chains.
Also before applying them just clean the existing dirt on the chain with some clothes & then apply. I apply them every 2-3 weeks.

I have personally used this AX-7 and as you said its really good value for money. Also what I felt after using this for last 3 oil changes is it takes sometime (say some 50 odd kilometers) for this oil to set, I mean to show its real qualities. Also once it crosses 2000km then it will wear out soon and you will find back all those gear issues and vibrations back.

I suggest not to apply grease. Lot of brands are available Motul,Yama Lube , TVS chain spray. I have tried Yamalube and TVS both were around 280 Rs motul is costliest (475 or 500). Between Yamalube and TVS , TVS is best it sticks to the chain and stays longer and I also felt more quantity

TVS chain spray is a lubricant.
For cleaning you can use WD 40 spray. You can check this DIY

Full synthetic is better than this as it lasts longer, done already 4k kms now on Shell full syn oil will drain it after completing 5k

Same here... I'm going to the SVC today. New disc pads are ~200km old but still when I apply the front disc brake, it feels as if some govt. bus has halted.
