funny thing is, even today i think i would still buy an rtr over the r15 or the fz. and i AM a yamaha fanboy of sorts (RD nostalgia). but i think maybe the carb over the FI. i haven't tested the latest carb rtr though, so i can't really say.

R15, I shorlisted mainly based on two criterion- 1) Relatively lightweight 2) Yamaha reliability (been using a RX100 from 22yrs!). But I read on this forum about it rusting. I think that does it for me. Not thinking about R15 now. It will most probably be a RTR Fi.

    Sorry for OT.

          • so i made a little side trip yest to JC road here in bangalore. Got some hyperwhite halogen bulbs for both the main headlamp and the parking lights. The bulb for the main headlamp (brand: "El Cheapo") works well..really bright and provides a good spread of the beam. The parking lamps are a different story..the right one works fine, but the left one sputters when i set the switch for "parking lights only" and totally goes kaput when i turn on the main lamp. I guess thats what i get for getting no name bulbs. So what brand do u guys recommend for the parking lamps? cause it looks funny with only one light on . Also checked out the tires...joel had suggested earlier to get Zapper C's..but the tread pattern is of the studded type and to me it looks suitable for only dirt or trail bikes. How are the other patterns? I also saw an R15 at college today shod with the Zapper WYDE at the rear..would that also be an option for my RTR?

i considered rubber mounting but when i spoke to the tvs engineer who came down from pune just to see my bike, he said its very difficult to do so since it needs to be done in the design stage itself and all crap. i guess i'll have to sit with some of my old mechs and see what can be done in this regard.

They have been consistently winning some awards or other from TVS.
thanks for that SP, vasai is a bit of a way away from kharghar, but i think i'll have a look-see sometime. i'm actually pretty pissed with all the service centers because everytime i took my bike in for a service it came back with 3 more. so i thought just leave it be and ride on!

any idea how ashwini motors in thane is ?

the originals are osram and the mechs say 'ravi' brand is also ok.

it can be done. i remember a castrol bike zone mechanic telling me that it can be done. also see if you can get some ideas from the yamaha libero. Apparently its got some 5 mounting points for its engine and this makes it very smooth. I cant verify it personally but i remember a yamah sales person tellin my friends dad this when he went to buy one.

also, i dont think we should vouch for what the tvs engineers say. my brothers colleagues from TVS were arguing with him saying it is impossible to retrofit the rtr's fotpeg aseembly to the old apache. you can imagine the rest.

can i too get some rubber mountings on my A-150 too reduce the vibes? Another issue is with the service center ppl, who i am pretty sure wil not have these mountings in place!
Dude did u get the footpeg assembly from the RTR on your apache fitted?
I have the aluminum brake and clutch levers which i felt were very sexy!

                        HELP!!!
I am also planning to fix the rear disc assembly of the RTR/RTR fi on my A150. This is because i am major facing issues with the rear drum brake. On braking it makes a very loud noice(like the one on DTC buses) and the braking is HIGHLY ineffective
Can some expert guide me on this??

Do you really need a disc?*O.w. you can get it fixed .. most probably there is a problem with the brake shoes in your bike's rear drum.
