  • Hey guys,
Did a little tinkering around today. I adjusted the Air flow screw in the carb today and found that the PHAT-PHAT sound that comes from the exhaust has magically disappeared! The bike now is running more smooth than before and all the RPM variations at idle have disappeared. Even vibrations have decreased a lot! I wonder what those TVS guys do while servicing the bike? Looks like they screw up the setting so that owners keep coming back to them.

Anyways, the bike now feels more smooth and that sound from the exhaust does not come anymore. Mileage still under testing.

Thats exactly what they are good at - screwing up. But I hope you know how to tune it... not at all a good idea to just adjust it randomly!! Its best done with a digital tacho.

This time i have put Castrol Power1 the bike is smoother gearshifts are same as before top end power has improved and vibrations are also less harsh. But the sound from the engine has increased. Before this i used TVS oil from the service center itself. Some times i even felt that service Center didnt change the oil.

the air/fuel mixing screw is located beside the idling screw.......

to increse the fuel rotate it clockwise or "tight" it.....
to increase the air rotate it anticlockwise or "loose" it......

but to come at optimium setting...
tight it fully then start ur bike and make the engine RPM run high by tighting the idling screw fully..
then start opening the mixing screw, the moment you'll be reaching the optimum setting the RPM will boost immidietly.......(this is also best method to tune 2 strokes) tight it half rotation for that "zoonk" (simply little more fuel supply) and your bike will be running on a "perfect" setting....

                  • Fiddling with the air-fuel screw setting is a risky proposition and should be avoided if you are not fully aware of what are you doing. If you want to adjust then show it to an experienced mechanic.I am saying it because i have myself faced the 'music' after altering the settings!!

Renny has given the spot-on procedure but there goes a lot of trial-and-error to get the exact setting!!

here with "zoonk" i meant the power

and with the idle part simple unscrew the the idle screw to get the desired RPM buddy.....

                            • Got the 5th free service done. 12k kms the fuel efficiency figure which had been reduced to around 38 kmpl is now more so like 45 kmpl didnt get the oil changed Power1 which i put is not more than 1200 kms old. The vibrations are lesser after service. The performance has also improved could carry the wheelie longer. Got the new brake oil filled.
