These are the best-case prices, i've heard of people who've spent about 1k more on each tyre. So that would be a whopping 4k+ for a set which should ideally cost 2.5k.Originally posted by HydBiker View Post@Satish, the R15's rear tyre costs Rs 1500 and the front about 1100. I think you knew this...
As I said above, people have paid much more, so 1400 for the front isn't such a bad price. the v rubber at 2.1k seems too expi to me esp when there are pretty decent indian tyres these days.Originally posted by onlinesatish View PostFront R15 tyre 80/90-17 - 1400rs
Rear Vee Rubber 110/80-18 - 2100rs
Tubeless steel valve's - 2*150rs - 300rs
Tubeless punchture repair kit - 250rs
Fitting charges - 150rs
total was - 4,200rs
Now i know i was robbed by the shop guy...did'nt have any option coz it was a sunday and i could'nt go there on any other day! i just want to know how much i was robbed off!
Valves go between 75 to 150 each so again, looks like you paid a bit much. Still bearable. Ditto with the repair kit, 150-350 is what i've seen.
But i absolutely can't accept the fitting charges. Both my nearest MRF dealers do machine fitting for free when you buy tyres from them. And paid charges are about 30-40 per tyre. And it includes removing the old tyre too, some smartasses might charge that separately too.
Razor, the metro dude has made quite a reputation of being a rip off, best avoid him in the future. He's got a decent range but is it worth his shit?Originally posted by razorBlades View Postsatish, u wanna hear my story on how i got robbed for the tyre change.. if it could make u feel better
I think you're talking about a pulse engine tachometer. Since the bike's tacho is sometimes inaccurate, especially when old as the mech correctly said, they use this much more precise and well-calibrated device for setting idle rpm. Actually, it doesn't really matter, upto 50rpm deviation from recommended is completely acceptable, they would only use it just to be 100% spot on. It works by sensing the spark pulses given by the ignition coil IIRC.Originally posted by razorBlades View Postguys, what is that electronic device that they use in the service center to tune the engine? (i guess it shows the rpm)
Joel recommended the zapper-c 3.00x18" and while it may look small, i completely agree that the compound and tread pattern would give class leading performance.Originally posted by razorBlades View Postanyone has 3.00*18 rear tyre? is it tooooooo small?
WTF!! Traitor!! Bajaj! noooooooooooooo!Originally posted by sam92 View Posthey guys .. guess what ..my RTR is SOLD

jokes apart, the 220carb is one of the most vfm bikes ever.
Running Sprinta 5000. 10w40 i think. Didn't notice much diff. But *feels* kinda thin. So 50 might be a good idea.Originally posted by Aparajith View PostHave any of u guys used a xW50 oil on ur RTRs? Am looking for real experiences here barring the should not be used advice!
Now i gotta go chk out the ZMR thread, 27 pages of absolute chaos. Fun! (before they delete all the naughty posts, atleast)

18" Tubeless rear
As Apar and Renny mentioned in the ZMR thread, the bike has the same 100/90-18 but in tubeless. However, if it is the same zapper-y, no matter how good the compound, it is a crappy tread pattern and is a very bad choice for a lightweight and nimble bike like the rtr.Last edited by julianpaul; 09-23-2009, 12:08 AM.

@Sam you've got a good price there...
The Mobil 5W50 (car oil) was like a dream in the RTR... no vibes... smooth... heck with the pickup. never noticed the drop in pickup as the bike was running smoother!Originally posted by Aparajith View PostHave any of u guys used a xW50 oil on ur RTRs? Well, I asked the question as I have been running the MOTUL 15W50 300V for the past 200 or so kms. Earlier used the Sprinta. It was good and the oil got Leh'ied.Originally posted by HydBiker View PostThe Mobil 5W50 (car oil) was like a dream in the RTR... no vibes... smooth... heck with the pickup. never noticed the drop in pickup as the bike was running smoother!
No issues. But I wanted to get the bike smoother so tried the MOTUL 15W50 fully synth this time. First few kms bike was really harsh and refused to almost rev. My bro was continuously complaining and cursing me . But after 100 kms or so, it was really smooth. No vibes. I test rode the vehicle yesterday and found almost no difference. So people wanting to smoothen their bikes, try it. Will have to check how long it will last though. The SPRINTA lasted a good 4.5K kms with the Leh trip thrown in. So I expect a 5K kms on this oil. The only issue was that with a 14T front the bike felt bad. Am now back to stock on the 13T front as my bro is using it mostly in the city only nowadays!
@Julian: Am using that exact tire on my RTR mate. I dont find any problems.Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

That's quite something about the motul 50 man. Why would it take 100km to settle in though?
About the tyre, you using the mrf zapper-y that's stock rear fitment on the cbz/zma? that bike has a horrible reputation for being skid happy at the slightest hint of dust/water. quite decent on perfectly clean, dry roads though.

Dont know what happedned to my bike but the entire front started having problems since sunday.
First the disc was giving trouble then the forks, then the headlight then the caliper and now the bearings have conked off
I replaced the bearings once at 15k kms. And now at 37k i have to replace it again!Last edited by onlinesatish; 09-23-2009, 12:28 PM.07 HH Zma

In my experience with the MOTUL W50 I have seen that it takes atleast 100 kms to settle down. Happened with my Pulsar. Happens with my R15 as well. Many of the Chennai guys using it have said the same thing too. Maybe its got something to do with our wonderful weather and engine technology!Originally posted by julianpaul View Post^^

Yep, am using that tire only. It was lying around after running for some 1000 kms on my Pulsar. So strapped it on the RTR. Am not having much of issues in rain or wet roads. Yes, off-roading is not one of its forte!
@Satish: Check if the tire alignment is proper!Last edited by Aparajith; 09-24-2009, 01:53 PM.Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.
