I don't think you've screwed your bike. What engine oil are you using? TVS stuff?

You should be using mineral oil and not synthetic oil for the first 5k km. No idea about K&N stuff. Not gonna install it anytime soon!

        Hello guys,

My 4 month old RTR160 (1450 km, 2 free services done, using Shell AX5 engine oil) is troubling me:

        1) Engine misfiring: I had this issue right from day 1 but it was fixed during 1st servicing. The issue resurfaced after 2nd servicing and it still persists. I told the SVC guys to fix it yet again. They kept my bike for a day and returned it to me saying they've cleaned the spark plug.

Bike makes "phat-phat-phat" sound at high RPM (especially when rolling down a slope). SVC guys have given up and have advised me to use better quality petrol and additives. I'm using normal HP petrol. Should I switch to "Speed" petrol. Will doing so fix this issue of engine misfiring?

        2) Front disc brake makes loud screeching noise when I apply the brake. This issue persists since 2nd servicing. It was non-existent until then. What should be done to fix this? SVC guys didn't do anything.

        3) Idling RPM varies according to surrounding temperature and engine temperature. After riding my bike continuously for 15 mins, idling RPM shoots up to almost 2.5k RPM. How to fix this? SVC guys have given up. They're unable to fix it. Do all RTRs have this issue?

        4) There are some noticeable scratches on my bike including a couple of them on the headlight. How to remove such scratches?

RTR owners and others please help me out...

1.) If you notice the phat phat sound only when you let off the throttle then don't worry that is one of the many trademarks of the RTR.
2.) When brakes are cold or relatively new, they tend to make such noises. I'm assuming the disc brake fluid is up to the level.
3.) The same thing happened to me when I increased the idling RPM. Set your idling RPM accordingly or you may have to play with the carb settings if it's running rich.
4.) As for the scratches I just let them be. I feel like they're battle scars but ask your dealer if he can give you a touch up.

              Myself: +1 For That.

Myself: AFAIK K&N stuff will ruin ur engine in long run
And again when u change the air filter u will hve t reset the carb settings i guess. So do it only if its required. by the way if you are using your bike mainly for drag race and not touring then u can go for it...It will give you good performance..

Myself: Its AFR tuning issue or some dirts in spark plug

Bike makes "phat-phat-phat" sound at high RPM (especially when rolling down a slope).
SVC guys have given up and have advised me to use better quality petrol and additives. I'm using normal HP petrol. Should I switch to "Speed" petrol. Will doing so fix this issue of engine misfiring?

Myself: As fellow rtr replied if the phat phat sound comes when you are idling, I mean when not applying accelerator then its kind of normal rtr behaviour..enjoy the music

              2) Front disc brake makes loud screeching noise when I apply the brake. This issue persists since 2nd servicing. It was non-existent until then. What should be done to fix this? SVC guys didn't do anything.

Myself: I have seen this issue in Honda bikes which fades out as disk gets heated up. Also check if any dirt is accumulated. That too can cause this issue. Try to clean by flushing water there in force and check if its still there.

Myself: Your bikes AFR tuning is gone crap. Ask the SVC guys to sort it out. Also before giving to them make sure your engiine is heated enough, say around after 5-10km riding only you give as the tuning should not be set in cold conditions as readings do differ.

              4) There are some noticeable scratches on my bike including a couple of them on the headlight. How to remove such scratches?

Myself: Forget about them if doesnt cause any issue during night vision.

RTR owners and others please help me out...

              • Guys, thanks a lot for replying.

Well, the phat-phat-phat (engine misfiring) sound is audible only when I'm rolling down a slope or on plain road while some gear is engaged without accelerating. I experience it daily, now even @ 3k-4k RPM.

Front disc has started making since mid-winter when surrounding temps. dropped sharply. I get my bike washed daily with water. I have no idea whether disc screeching noise is related to temp. or not.

I'll contact SVC tomorrow and tell them to fix my bike.

                  • Tyres Upgrade - Front and Rear

                    Hello RTR people,

I need to upgrade tyres on my 160 (rear and front).
I've tried looking thorough this thread but opinions are varying.

What should I go for -
I'm looking for better grip in gravel and wet conditions.
                    Also straightforward installation.

Anyone with a rock solid suggestion based on the options tried in the past?

                    Thanks,
                    Mr.Bee

Go for sirac street for rear and as suggested zapper fs for front.

I think I will go with sirac for the rear.

Do I need to change the tube or can I re-use the tubes in stock tyres?

At ODO 61KM I changed Engine oil to Castrol Activ 20W40. The engine became smooth in 2-4000 RPM but gear shift has became somewhat harder than before. Is it normal??
