Hi! Thank you for your advice.

Is this something that I need to get done as soon as possible or is it something I can stall for a few months?

Also could you please help me with what you actually meant by cam? Cam chain? Timing chain and cam are different things are they?

Im not thaat techy when it comes to machines sorry for asking too many questions.

I guess the cylinder is fine, like I said pickup is good n running is smooth. And for the smoking part, there was a one off scenario a few days after I had changed my engine oil to fully synthetic where my engine gave out white smoke but never happened again.
I think it could be because the synthetic oil being lighter might have creeped into the combustion chamber. Or you could shed some light on that as well?

I recently purchased a 2010 Karizma R. Had it serviced at a nearby Hero SS.

    Made the following changes:

    1. Installed a new Carb (old one was bad)
    2. Changed chain sprocket Kit (old one was bad again)
    3. Changed Cam Tensioner (Mech told me it was all worn out)
    4. Changed engine oil to fully synthetic Shell 10w40.

After this, I had the bike running smooth for about a few days until:

    1. I started observing knocking sound and sort of like a chain vibrating sound from the engine.

I read through the forum regarding this and most of the time, the cam tensioner change resolved the issue, but not in my case.
    2. I also observed overheating from the engine, even after short rides in Bangalore, to the poiny where it radiates out and can be felt on the legs.
    3. Also there is this irritating chain rubbing sound from the front sprocket area which can be heard when coming back from work in the night(in silence), and it faded away as I oiled the chain once but came back soon after few days.(Donno if I should be concerned about this)

My mechanic telling me we have to change some chain & pads inside the engine , which would cost another 3k. Is this really true?
I mean, I don't think he is taking effort to diagnose the root cause of all these problems, and just giving me one word solutions.

Apart from all this, the bike seems to run fine, got decent pick up and can cruise at 100@6k rpm smoothly if I want it to.

As a new owner of Karizma, i know little about the bike.

    So kindly help.

    Many Thanks

Good to know that you are using your Karizma again for touring. I own a 2013 one and I use it for touring (see my blog for more details).
I will try to answer your questions with my best efforts:-

    1. Increase height of the bike proportionately , mainly on front
    - Why merits do you see in it?
    - A person named Akhil Nair from Kerala and Gautam from Mumbai have done it. You can reach out to them (PM me to get their details).

    2. Reduce existing weight from the bike, have removed chain cover, saree guard, rear hand grip. Thinking of removing the rear fiber parts as I really don’t like them anymore (nothing to do with weight as such).

    - Removal of chain cover causes the chain and sprocket to wear out quickly. If that is not an issue then you can go ahead.
-Saree gaurd is ok to remove
    - Rear hand grip or grab rails (as it is called) is useful to lock bungee cords to mount the luggage.

    3. Rear disc break installation
-Again Akhil Nair is the best person to provide you these details.
-I had inquired for the same, I got a quote of 12k. I didn't have the budget for it

    4. Good horn
-I am also looking for this information.

    5. Engine guard
    - Please provide more details

    6. Decent LED tail and indicator lights
    - No Idea

    7. Better exhaust (not so noisy but should be an head turner)
    - You may put the most expensive exhaust available there, but a single cylinder engine will never produce the sweet symphony of a multi-cylinder.
It will actually ruin the mileage and engine

    8. Engine and block color or polish
    -No Idea

    9. Floating front mud guard
    -No Idea

    10. A good quality bigger front visor glass
    - The Visor from AS 200 fits with some Desi Juggad

    Hi Mate,

Can you give out more details on what exactly you mean by "Touring Grab Rail"?
    A luggage carrier....

Early yrs, I use to ride and tour a lot, but a small accident broke my left knee ligament and somehow with increasing work and family priorities, I slowly got drifted away from my bike. However I never left my bike unattended. My most of the Saturdays are with my bike somewhere outskirts of the city, for an early morning tea or spending time in cleaning the bike.

Now, this old kiddaa has again surfaced and is forcing me to start my touring again. The big Q was should I go for a new better/bigger bike or should I perform some neat and tour worthy mods on my good old Karizma and be happy. Finally with lots of thoughts on glass, Karizma won this race.

Now coming to what mods should I go for, have mentioned below the ones in mind and the ones already done.

    1. Increase height of the bike proportionately , mainly on front
    2. Reduce existing weight from the bike, have removed chain cover, saree guard, rear hand grip. Thinking of removing the rear fiber parts as I really don’t like them anymore (nothing to do with weight as such).

    8. Engine and block color or polish
    9. Floating front mud guard
    10. A good quality bigger front visor glass

Would be really grateful for additional important suggestions and inputs on achieving the above mods.

Now, the ones already done so far.

    1. Headlight upgraded with Philips Extreme Vision 50/60, good quality heavy duty ceramic bulb holder and bosch relay kit.
    2. Aux LED Fog lights 20 Watts each
    3. Front and rear sprocket change for better top end and acceleration
    4. Racing CDI
    5. Minor upgraded carburetor; don’t remember exactly, I guess some screw was replaced for better air intake. With this throttle is Chumma now…

Looking forward for inputs and guidance from all the fellow Riders....

This setup offers the best FE though lacks grunt down low as reported by a fellow enthusiast, a tuner from Thrissur did mention upjetting it but the user is running on stock jets without any concerns.

    2. Pulsar 220 - This is the go to carb for the ZMA, the older variants came with Auto Choke but that has been removed in the latest iteration.

    3. Pulsar 200NS - This also works as shared by an enthusiast whose running on the setup, Auto Choke doesn't work.

A walk-around for setting up the auto choke is by hooking it up to the starter wiring, so that it gets activated when you thumb the starter, though both users with P220 and 200NS carburetor did say that they've never felt the need for choke.
Bajaj Pulsar 180 runs on a BS29 i.e. 29mm I guess and Hero Honda Karizma on a 26mm carb from Keihin. Pulsar one is bigger afaik. The Pulsar 150 runs on BS26 26mm. 200NS on a UCAL 33mm.

Also carbs are direct fit yes...several others even aprt from what you've mentioned. But how will it perform is the question and thus the opting for the same as per one's requirement.

Anyone tried a BS26 from the Pulsar150? Because the size is same of that of Karizma 26mm.
