    • Did not see any update on this thread for long time.

Any way here is the update.
Enfield is giving four bikes to four old enfield customers who already owns the classic 500 cc one.
The bike will be given for two months. Then the update will be taken from them, and complaints will be looked after. The customers are being told to ride as much as possible, and in all kinds of situations, specially in the bumper to bumper traffic where the engine takes a hit.

After that the bikes will be taken back to the showroom, and the team will check up the bike. This is going on for a couple of months now after auto expo.
This is the last two months now. These bikes are now in Bangalore. I saw them in the company service centers.

Did ride one today. Liked it. Specially the looks. Man its just so so different.
The tank is just huge. It is really great.
      Would love to own one.
U have to see it to fall in love with it.

      • Isues with Classic 500 bought in Feb 2012

I've been witnessing some strange issue with my CL500.
I used to start the bike with a kick every morning and it used to start in a single kick. After keeping it on for a couple of minutes, pull the choke for about 25-30 seconds and then take off!
It was running well since I got the bike, but recently, even when I follow the same procedure, the bike started going off when I would start moving.
If I would be at low rpms, the bike started going off. When I would be in the 2nd/3rd gear, while accelerating there used to be a loss in power.
While revving suddenly to overtake a vehicle ahead, the bike would jerk and go ahead, sometimes would just stop.
Also, there was something which is commonly known as miss firing.

I took it to a service station today where I listed all the complaints. This wasn't a part of my free services as my 2nd service took place at 3300 kms and I have currently clocked 4300 kms.

After 3 hours, I got my bike back but the issue hasn't been resolved completely. I have been asked to come again after confirming the presence of a software engineer who will connect his laptop to my bike and format some software which will retune the engine and the miss firing issue will be taken care of.

        Is this believable?
And, has this happened to someone before?

i have kinda similiar issue.... but not while starting the vehicle. I face it while running. If i go at a constant speed and brake and try to accelerate again, a missing appears and the vehicle turns off eventually.. I tried asking many why this is happening.. All had different opinions like, air gap, fuel quality, air+fuel mixture problem, and even spark plug problem... But none of these are the actual problem... because i checked all these and i still have the same problem

No man i am sure that the curb settings are not proper for both the bikes .....
I was facing the same, but got it corrected. Now i dont face the issue any more.
For 500 the FI has some settings. Get it checked.
For 350 the curb settings have to be looked at. It all about the mixture settings.
One small suggestion, dont try to do this on your own, you will end up thinking that everything is the perfect

Yah this is correct. Your settings have gone wrong. It has to be checked
I had a Pulsar 220 FI before, that had FI. So i know that happens when the settings goes wrong.

                  Now i own a thunderbird 350 only bro ....
My bike also was having the same issue.
Take it to a guy who knows the new engine.
Dont take the bike to a guy who works a lot in Cast iron engines. The settings and the curborater are different. Best is take your bike to the authorised service center. Wait and give them the time. Have patience. It will go

i know the whole setting is different. So i took it to the service center only. But I got all those different answers from the service center. I will try going again . It completed 5000 kms. So i'll drop the vehicle for 3rd service in another week or so. So i'll tell about the issue again and try to find a solution. The vehicle is pulling itself to right side... When i checked for wheel bends, i couldnt find any. Gotta check that also.

For your bike pulling to the right, i think that your handle bar is loose. The center nut on your handle bar ( dont remember what they call it though) has to be tightened. Tell them while giving it for servicing.

And one small suggestion. Stay when your bike is being serviced.

Are you talking about the T-stem ? I had doubt about that. But didnt have a wrench to tighten the screw and give it a try And What are the things which we have to mainly check about after service. And which screws are most likely to be loose always. I kind off find one screw each loose after every ride

I Really wont mind staying there and watching they servicing my vehicle. But they take really long time. I leave my bike in the morning around 9 and takes it back by 5. I tried asking them when they'll start working on my bike, so that i can get back at that time . But they themselves dont know that. Staying there the whole is kind off not possible. So i always leave my love with a sad face and return in evening to collect it

See boss there will be a big fat nut that connects the fork to the body of the bike. That screw.
Ad dont be too nostalgic with your bike. Dont try to find out leaks, and loose screws. Just use your bike without thinking.

And yah they take a lot of time for sure.
If you go to the BTM service center, then i can say one thing.
There is a guy called Annand. Try to talk to him. Show your vehicle to him, and ask him what is the problem. He is the best person to solve any issues.
Show your biken and tell him all your problems. He will do it. Just try this out.

                            • RE Electra Delux

                              Friends,

Why RE Electra Delux is not available in India??

It's a 499cc bike with same specs of other CL 500 models.

If this would have been launched here than most of the CL waiting period would have reduced as people would have opted for this bike too instead of CL 500 only!!
