160 kmph on a bull !!!
Personally I dont much believe in the accuracy of speedos fitted in standard vehicles __ my Bull did 130 kmph for a stretch last May when I was on a ride up the Interstate highway ... when I pressed on for more, it stuck @160 max !!! ha ha ha ha .... speedo error !!

Haha indeed! Now if anybody ever tells you that Bullets are slow, just take him/ her for a ride!!Originally posted by Andy_Vee View PostPersonally I dont much believe in the accuracy of speedos fitted in standard vehicles __ my Bull did 130 kmph for a stretch last May when I was on a ride up the Interstate highway ... when I pressed on for more, it stuck @160 max !!! ha ha ha ha .... speedo error !!
If you so desire, you might disconnect the speedo drive wire from either the meter or the wheel hub, take it out, clean it with a cloth and lubricate it. Just one drop of engine oil every 6 inches or so would be enough (courtesy Pete's manual).
Of course, you'll be crazy to 'ruin' a speedo which shows 160.
But then, if you ride a Bullet at 160, you probably are half-way there

K&N E-0900 Royal Enfield Air Filter
Hi everyone .....
i read the whole thread ...
i did not get the answer to the question about the K&N filter ....
I have a thunderbird twinspark model ....
I wan thinking of installing the K&N E0900 filter to the bike ....
Is it good to go for it ...
Is there any one here who has fitted this filter in his bike.
If so can you please tell me if it will increase the performance and the ride quality of the bike as a whole.....
Guys please help me out.
I did ask an old mechanic of bullet, and what he said is that K&N helps hte performance of the old bullets, but for the new ones u dont need them as they function pretty well ....______________________________________________________________

Classic 350 unusual sound
I have a classic 350 black with 1000km run. Recently I came across an unusual sound from the rear part. When I put my bike in 3rd gear and keep throttling above 40km/hr an unusual sound(its like a bajaj auto sound(culu culu)
) is coming. When I put 4th gear the sound gradually drecreases and in 5th gear @ 60km/hr the horrible sound vanishes.
I tried to figure it out by putting my bike in main stand and throttled the bike in 3rd gear. But no unusual sound came. I guess when the bike is in load I mean with pilion the sound is more prominent.
Plz help me out with this guys. What it may be, from where it is coming???

1000 km only - cannot be wear and tear of any part. Also, the rear does not have engine/ gearbox components - which are responsible for the majority of mysterious noisesOriginally posted by BLACK-PYTHON View PostI have a classic 350 black with 1000km run.

Just check whether any nut/ bolts are loose. Check under the seat, under the mudguard etc.
Is it possible the drive chain is making the noise? Highly improbable, unless it was not adjusted correctly at delivery.
Did your bike have an accident, however small?

Congratulations mate! Yes most probably you will get it within 6 months. But always remember keep nagging the dealer occasionally. Not every day but once every month when the wait comes to 3 months or so.Originally posted by discover View PostAfter lot of thinking and discussions i ended up booking Classic 350 in Teknic Motors Bangalore.. Will have to wait for annoying 8 months... Hope they will not extend the waiting period.. They have promised to deliver it within that..Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. I think to reap the benefits of the K&N filter in your Thunderbird you will additionally need to get your bike re jetted. Its nothing but adjusting the air-fuel mixture and flow to the combustion chamber. The K&N air filters pump in large amounts of air as opposed to the stock ones which when combined with increased inflow of fuel will lead to better performance in respect to pick up and acceleration but will be heavy on mileage. Your bike's mileage will probably reduce by 3-4kmpl.Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. hi,
my electra (old CI engine) is 2 year and 23000 klm old. around 7 months back floating bush was off (its was making too much noise, we thought its tapet so gave it service and found silver pieces and particle mixed in engine oil ), so changed that @ Royal enfield service center. now after 7 months my bike is again making noise but not at that level. so i checked the oil and again there are silver particle. i m like Wtf ***... what is happening with this bike.. now again floating bush (mean 10k ka fatka) and one more thing it has started eating engine oil. every sunday i putting some amount of oil. not much but every sunday i check and it shows me little low from previous marking..
so what to do now... and how can floating bush go off so quickly.. and what is with engine oil now.. i never heard about electra eating oil..
anyone knows about these problem ?? or suggest any good mech in mumbai would be helpfull..
thanks

so, did the mechanic tell you why the floating bush failed? Was it manufacturing defect, faulty riding style of yours, irregular servicing, wear and tear due to old age - all these seem unlikely at 2 years/ 20k kms. What about the oil pump - did he check that? If the oil pump is faulty, the problem can recur. Did he remove all the metal particles last time, or leave them there to screw the engine?

. Back isn't an issue though coz of wonderful seat
