question... in the event that the starter goes kaput on a long ride (in the middle of nowhere in the night ) once the bike is push started.. will the headlights work?

Why not? I mean, I don't see ANY reason why won't the headlight work if the starter goes kaput!

does the headlight need the battery to be in good nick to work? just getting to know the bike guys.. this may be elementary for most of you!!

No, unlike the P-220, the P-200 is 'old school'..It has no connection with the battery having juice.. You'll realize in time the disadvantage of this. The light spread is really pathetic, moreover, since the "voltage" of the headlight keeps fluctuating (as in when you are on idle, the lights seem more like candles..), this really gets frustrating at times.

It is high time that manufacturers followed the international standards (as far as the electrical go atleast..!!)
                :)

                • ok.... i found the high beam a little ummm not great frankly.. the low beam does have a decent spread (not talking about the strength of the beam here)..
Love the park lights though... looks really wicked!

                  • for the 200 i've never ever regretted replacing the stock lamp with the Osram Nightbreakers. It'l really improve the lighting, so do it if you can.

did you do any mods to the coil?
let me know wat are the mod needed for the installing and making it work fully (i.e 55W)

@A@shish can you too post some pics of your hid (hi and low beams)
from as many angles as you can and its Wattage and Kelvin Rating
how did you make your electricals DC, give us more gyaan

can anyone tell me the output wattage of the stock coil

ok i will post the pics as soon as i can
                              its a 35W -6000k HID
I cant explain in detail how the modifications were done as my friend did the job for me. I will explain you as much as i can....HID runs on dc so you have to get the dc current from the ignition wire..but then the bike wont start as it requires AC current for the starting So to solve this problem you have to install a switch which can convert the whole system into DC or AC....after its done you have to start the bike on AC then switch the system to DC via the switch then you can easily use the HID.
                              its a very complicated process.

after everything is done you have to take many precautions for using the HID like less usage of Horn and indicators plus you will have to replace the pilot lamps and the number plate bulb(5w each) with LED's this is done to reduce the load from the battery.

currently i am looking for LED's for the indicators

regarding HIDs: isn't the nightbreaker or the philips power bulb a more hassle free option then?
