      • My Black Devil

Well it has been over a year since I had my Black Devil - My Pulsar 200. Fell in love with the bike the very moment I first layed my hands on the bike at the Krishna Bajaj Pro Biking show-room.

Before that I was owning Hero Honda Super Splendor and I really was very happy with the bike. But thinks went a bit way ward with the bike and I opted for the Pulsar 200 as my next bike.

I was allowed the test ride and with some hesitation in my mind due to the negetive online ho hum in regards to it's faulty front shock absorbers. But I soon as I engaged the first gear and let the clutch go..... it's a dream that's continuing till date when I've completed 10K+ figures on my odo.

No doubt this is one of the best machines that's available in India... A well behaved "Street Hooligan".

The handling and the power delivery is a class apart. For a carburated engine, the torque disposal is also pretty decent. The 18bhp max output capactiy makes it's presence feel as soon as you cross that 5K rpm mark. It just zipps through. The extended swing arm of the bike does pose a bit of discomfort when negotiating turns at slow speeds and specially with a penal at your back, but again that's a matter of getting habituated.

Initially finding neutral was a bit of pain but again, for this bike it's an art that you need to master. But of all the pulsars, the gear boxes of Pulsar 200 and Pulsar 220 are bliss!! I never had any false neutral or stubborn gear box issues.

One thing which I feel Bajaj should have take better care of for this bike is the Fuel Guage!! It behaves as if it's an autonomous unit, showing fuel levels at it's own will. Except for that it has been a wonderfull journey with this babe so far!!
Twist your wrist and feel the shift!!

        My own thoughts - Throttle

        • Finally, Bajaj's quality or whatever it is, showed up this morning..Saw some engine oil stains on the right side of the cylinder (the cylinder head, is it? ). Cleaned it up with a piece of cloth.

Ahh! 3-4 months old bike, done about 5.5k on the odometer, never ripped, never ridden hard, never done anything extraordinary, ridden at about 55-60km/hr. max till now and still the head is leaking oil! Great..All hail Bajaj..

          P.S:

          Any solutions to this problem??
          :)

Click a pic and post, so we can see the exact location of the leak!

PS: What Oil do you use?

I use the service center engine oil; haven't shifted to any other brand yet.

Just searched for the image of Pulsar-200 off the net, and I am posting the image here. The place where the leak happens is circled in red. Any help, please?

Also, found this interesting photoshopped picture of the Pulsar-200 on the net while searching for the above. Loved it, thought of sharing it with fellow xBhpians. Please note it is just for gawking purposes; no speculations please..

P.S:@ Praful: Deleted the post, as requested.

Oh okay, will do that for sure, then.

EDIT: But anyhow, I would like to know why this leak happens? I mean, what is the cause for this atrocity that the owner has to bear?

                    Cos its a BAJAJ

On a serious note, thats due to the sealant wearing off or faulty gaskets IIRC. U can use this Anabond sealant(dont know its exact name), to seal that location. It looks white like Fevicol but bonds very hard and seals off the oil leak. Search in Hardware shops or ask Pro-biking, they shud have it.

                      Oh okay! Thanks Apar.

When I saw it this morning, I was not shaken at all; just thought to myself - this is the precise reason I love Bajaj!

                      • Had the same issue on my P180 recently.. Try what Apar has said. Although the sealant wore off after sometime and the head began leaking again, I just got it resealed 3 days ago.

Is it? Venu Sir put it on my bike when he opened up the engine and it did not wear off ever since for the next 20K kms till I sold it off... On top of that I was using the Motul 300V oil renowned for causing this problem!

EDIT : I guess this was the one :: http://www.anabond.com/rubber_classi_2.htm

Thanks for the that info man! Will ask my mech whether he put that one or some other weird sealant which may wear off again

Is that second pic a picture of a pulsar 200 with 140 tires? The ones used on the FZ16? Coz they look so similar. And I need to change my tires too. Do the FZ tires fit on the stock rim? Is it advisable?
