Well, pillion or no pillion, I've always been more comfortable using my front brakes. I've braked from 108 on the front, and I've found no problems. Yeah, in the wet season, my front has locked up pretty bad on a couple of turns, but thank god, nothing bad happened. I was able to keep the bike under enough control.Originally posted by silver_falcon_46 View Posti dont have a problem with the rear brake locking in any sense. I have a problem with its weakness. Think about decelerating with a pillion from 70. Or think about decelerating hard from 85+. The rear brakes play a huge role in these cases. Moreover its not a sports bike where i could survive with only the front brakes. The rear brakes play a huge role on Indian bikes.
And I know the world of a difference the 220 is from the 200 inspite of them using identical front brakes.
Like praful said, if your rear locks up, it's fine. But if your front locks up, then you need to be able to exercise a lot of control over your bike. Here's a tip if you're braking with the front - shift as much weight as you can on the handlebars while braking, evenly. If you do that, the chances of your front locking up, or your losing control in a lock-up will be very minimal.Last edited by Insidious; 11-22-2008, 11:45 AM.-------------------
Swiggy Mayhem!
We're trying to start an initiative where we're gathering enough photos or videos
of erratic Swiggy/Zomato/UberEats riders across all cities so we can cast a spotlight
on this issue and try and sort it out. If you video-record as you ride, or have a
dash-cam in your car, or can take SAFELY photographs of instances where these riders
are creating a nuisance by riding recklessly on the roads, PLEASE share the same with
us on the thread above. Appreciate it!

so i decided to put the standard halonix 35/35w...
no such probs for me... infact its awesome. Yes it tends to get pretty hot but for my use so far i've not had any probs on the reflector nor noticed any blackening.
Btw.. for those of you who can switch to the MOTUL 300V... get it done! It's absolutely worth it. The engine vib's are so mellow now and the feel and response is very crisp but smooth with no strain that i used to feel with the older standard Castrol Oil

Hey...am back to this thread after a very long vacation...see that there have been some very disappointing losses to the whole website, but its good that the site's fine now... BTW, in the meanwhile, i've had a bad experience with the service station guys in Chd. They put in some low grade oil into my bike instead of the 20w50 one...so, it harmed the engine to quite some extent before i went back and got it replaced.... so, even if you're standing there when the mechanic is changing the oil, make sure that he's putting in the right one.... just my 2 cents...
P.S. Is everyone's post count gone, or is it the case with some selected members only ? (me included)Last edited by dcsastudent; 11-23-2008, 12:43 PM.

3297kmOriginally posted by Aryan View Post@Absolutehavoc: What was the odometer reading of your P-200 when you shifted to the fully synthetic engine oil (Motul)? My bike has completed about 5.5k kilometres, I am thinking of shifting to Motul 300V at about the 6.5-7k mark.
I decided to get it done because i was going for the scheduled service anyway which required oil to be changed so i did it. Definitely recommend it for your next change, km's are not an issue for you.

I repeat, I dont have a problem with the front or rear locking up. Compare the rear brakes of a Bullet or an Avenger or even a P150 with the P200. They have way better rear brakes. And yeah, a pillion makes a world of a difference, if you know what I mean. The heavier the bike, the harder to brake. This is where better rear brakes play a huge role. Like I already said, try bringing a 220 to a halt with a pillion, its so much more peaceful! We'll I hope I'm not exaggerating too much, but I feel the 200 requires better rear brakes.Originally posted by Insidious View PostWell, pillion or no pillion, I've always been more comfortable using my front brakes. I had a quick ride from Bangalore to Gundulpet on Friday (night-10.30 pm start time and 5am return time). Distance of 210kms one way. We'll, a few other guys were supposed to join me but they got engaged in something else. So I decided to take off. My average speed would'v been in the region of 90 , with speeds above 120 in short stretches. After I returned I found my tappets gone a lil out of adjustment. We'll, a fair deal considering the kind of rpm I was riding at, but I am kinda disappointed with this whole tappet thing in the 200's. I'v replaced my tappet twice already with 19k on my odo
