      What you planning?
am planning to drop a couple of teeth on the rear sprocket for a better top speed.i feel the 200 has been geared too short.lookin at the power that she has in the mid range a taller gearing will be great bringing down the RPM at every speed.better for highway riding.any suggestions are welcome.

      • the lower gears are indeed set short 3rd and 4th is where she really picks the pace

Its not as simple as that, you will loose out on loads of torque that you will not even manage to hit the speeds that you think you would be able to hit. Infact it might make the bike so sluggish that you will prolly not even make more topspeed than what the bike originally does.

The only viable option for you is to go in for the 220's rear sprocket which is a 37T one. Other than that, you will have to manufacture a custom sprocket if you want anything else, which again is not a cost effective option.

Think about it! I had the same line of thinking for my 220 too couple of months back.

As n00by as this sounds, going for more teeth will get me acceleration and make me lose out on top-end. Right?

            • Simple 101 for sprockets...

              Rear - More teeth=acceleration, less teeth=topend
              Front - More teeth=topend, less teeth=acceleration

              • My bike never settles at a proper idle nowadays, after a few minutes riding the idle range rises from 1.1~1.2k to 1.8~2.0k, and because of this the bike is very unsettling to ride in slow 1st and 2nd gear roll through the traffic, yesterday after changing my engine oil (Motul 5100 T) the irregular idle rev seem to have been solved, but the bike radiates an abnormal amount of heat after a few minutes ride because my inner thighs were red from the heat, this was particularly noticeable as i was wearing only 3/4ths (I had ridden with shorts before and i never experienced my bike giving off so much heat)

                • ^^Irregular idle happens only if the mixture is rich or lean! Ur claims of extreme heat only affirm a lean mixture. Get that checked from the service centre using that CO-level check.

                  • ^^ That's what i've also been thinking but what baffled me was when the engine oil was changed this problem with the idle was nearly eliminated! so that's where i would like to have my explanation

                    • It's weird if you say its only oil.. but i'd say get the carb tuning checked too. Maybe the oil pump as well?

If the rpm does not go above 2 even when it varies then its fine its a mechanism tat 220 has to charge the battery (donno the exact tech form fo how it does it ) it wont happen all the time thou.I think it goes same for 200 also not sure but u can chk with PBK SC.
Aprilia RS 125 or Honda CB400 Vtec ..... which one will it be ??? I think its gonna be NINJA ZX 6R :-)

It will cost you Rs. 285 and you will get it in any Bajaj Pro biking show room (where Pulsar 200 is sold).. I changed mine a few days back...

Also change the handle bar ASAP, otherwise you have to suffer from wrist pain..
