I recently bought a second hand Pulsar 150 UG-I. Spent 3000 on it to get it serviced as the previous owner didn't give a damn about it's maintenance It needed a new engine head, CDI ignition coil etc. The mechanic suggested to get a carb replacement too, but that would cost me 3k more! Anyways I noticed that the tank is all rusty from the inside and water just seeps into the tank from the fuel opening. It accumulates just outside the mouth and seeps in when tilted.

I suspect this is causing carb and engine damage as the engine is getting a fuel-water mixture. I am seriously worried that this will screw the engine even more. Please suggest any immediate steps that can be taken.
Well...you bough an abused soldier....never the less lets heal him up. please post the symptoms or problems you ate facing as well....
For the water issue...open the fuel tank and c there is a small hole below the tank hole. this is the drain hole for water. Blow high compressed air through it... will clear the clogged line and it wont fill up...
Also water in the tank will result in weird running agreed... but it wont cause any damage as such so quickly.... remove the tank... clear the line...and c. you will notice a pipe like opening below the tank... thats the drain hole for water....it is connected to the hole inside the tank mouth. a channel to let water out...

      Hello xbhpians
Have one small issue with my bike.
When I use the auto start button it dosent start. Dosent even make the starting noise from starter motor. Total blank. Where as kick start works. And I have verified the battery condition . Its very good. Horn sounds very loud. Also the bike starts with auto start after 2 - 3 times.

Also I noticed that when the bike is started in neutral the neutral light blinks and goes of(completely blank).

      Any suggestions whats going wrong.

      Thanks in advance

How did you check the battery ? Was a multimeter used to check the voltages ? What were the readings ?
Get the wiring checked for any lose contacts and earthing.

If the battery is supposedly good, then it could either be the starter relay, starter switch itself or the motor (very rare, but maybe carbon brushes need replacement). But i still suspect the battery first.

No I didn't use the multi meter to measure it.
I came to the conclusion based on the horn sound and light beam .
I will check the cabling .
Also when the bike is idling in neutral the neutral light flickers and goes off .
Any suggestion on what to check?

            • Pulsar 150 Chain/Sprocket noise problem..

I recently bought a 3yr old Black P150 26,000 kms done, but i am having issues while accelerating from dead start.

Bike makes a noise like "tak-tak" when i try to drag it from 0 km/h on a higher rpm(even the power delivery is not that gud during drag) & this sound comes from rear wheel. But my pulsar works perfectly once in motion not matter how hard i accelerate and even there's no noise if i start moving at lower rpm's. Please advise me on possible issues with the bike & how much would it cost me to fix it

Also guys if u could tell me approx price of front Mudguard it would be very helpful...

Front mudguard black one is 495 I believe....
Reuse rubber bushes (prevent rattle) from old one.. they are difficult to source.

Tak tak sound im not sure by the way u descrolibe it... if its from the rear wheel...and no where near the engine... try getting the chain slack adjusted and change the coupling rubber of the rear wheel and sprocket... its just black rubber in a weird round shape that fits into your rim..60rs.

Yup, get the chain slack adjusted and if the issue still persists, also get the front and rear sprockets checked for excessive wear. The sound could either be cos of chain hitting the chain guard due to excess play, or in worst cases, chain skipping sprocket teeth due to excessive sprocket wear.

                  • Oil leak in shock absorber - Pulsar 150 - Need help

Hi, I own a 6 years old pulsar 150 bike. And I have not come across any major problems so far. For the first time the oil in the front shock absorber is leaking.
Will it create a major problem? How much will it cost to fix it ? I would like to know the cost of replacing with a new one if I have to.

                    Regards,
                    Mani

Oil leakage is due to damage of rubber oil seal in shocker, continuous oil leak will eventually make the spring hard, you got 2 options either get the shocker repaired from any roadside shocker repair wala, will cost you appox 200 Rs he can tell u whether it would be worth while to go for the repair. if it has no life left buy a new shocker, will cost you abt 1400 bucks OEM, after market has variety of option ranging from 1500 to 4500 approx.

                      • Bike engine is heating up..!!

                        Hi folks,

I have a bajaj pulsar 150 and have been riding it since 2009. Recently i gave it for servicing at a authorized bajaj service center. After the servicing was done i find it that the engine is heating up very quickly, even for short distance of 1 or 2 kms it heats up which earlier wasn't there. Engine oil doesn't seem to be an issue because i got that checked at the service center. The mechanic over there said the oil level is fine and its normal for engines to heat up. I am not sure what the problem is. Anyone has any idea?

It will create problems in handling if the shock absorbers leaks.
Shock absorber oil seal should be 200-250 a pair and new oil I am not sure about. I have not had this done in a long time so not sure of price. But its a 1 hour job. Get both shocks oil seals on both shocks changed not just the one.

Its front shocks so he needs only to change the spring and oil inside if it needs repairs to get it to stock. Only rear shocks need to be changed not front.

I am not quite sure about that. When i gave it for servicing i just asked them to change the engine oil presuming they will put in the appropriate engine oil. How do i find out what oil they have put?
