Bro, i will get new pair of plugs and will do 4 full turn and update the result. I have just checked the fuel and they are clean and no residueOriginally posted by s1d View Post

Re: Is my bike running lean?
just because there is no residue doesn't mean its not adulterated.. the white tip says there is a problem.. maybe lean or bad fuel or a bad spark plug.Originally posted by Sakibchy View PostBro, i will get new pair of plugs and will do 4 full turn and update the result. You still haven't answered what I asked.. Did you clean the plug before testing ?? And i hope you are not under or over tightening the plug.Last edited by s1d; 07-08-2014, 11:28 AM.

Sorry bro, i forgot to mention, i just used some cloth to clean the electrodes. But the color as and base remains the dark brown and outer tip remains the same whitish grey colorOriginally posted by s1d View Postjust because there is no residue doesn't mean its not adulterated.. the white tip says there is a problem.. maybe lean or bad fuel or a bad spark plug.

Also could you please tell me what is the exact model of pulsar UG 4.5 recommended spark plugs? Have been surfing like crazy but can't find a proper answer. Also should i use identical plugs for both RHS, LHS ? How about bosch plugs?

Oh man, that's not how a plug is cleaned.. you at least need a wire brush or fine grit sand paper to remove that white layer and re-gap the plug to 0.7-0.8mmOriginally posted by Sakibchy View PostSorry bro, i forgot to mention, i just used some cloth to clean the electrodes. the stock plug is champion rg4hc , and yes you can use same on both sides.
I do not know what plugs are sold in bangladesh, but NGK plugs are also good
NGK Partfinder Catalogues
CR9E (normal)
CR9EGP(platinum)
CR9EIX (iridium)
There are fake plugs that might look shiny but would cause problems.. You are better off going to the asc and picking up a set of stock new plugs unless you know someone locally who can help you source the right aftermarket plugs which match the oem plugs.
Yeh that's the carb on the pulsarOriginally posted by Sakibchy View PostBecause i want to do the 4 full turn taste with shiny new plugs. My carburetor is Mikuni BS 29 just in case

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
I believe i ended up buying fake plugs. Because the plug says its 'champion RG4HC' but it came in a box which was loose and almost open, showing bajaj logo. I have a picture here, let me know if champion plugs are sold as bajaj parts!Originally posted by s1d View PostOh man, that's not how a plug is cleaned.. you at least need a wire brush or fine grit sand paper to remove that white layer and re-gap the plug to 0.7-0.8mm

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
i don't see anything suspicious with the box though..box could hav been damaged in transportation/storage etc.. If you are not sure, your safest bet would be the asc or someone locally who can procure original plugsOriginally posted by Sakibchy View PostI believe i ended up buying fake plugs. And oops i forgot to mention this.. i hope you are not low or out of engine oil..do check oil level too (since you mentioned overheating)Last edited by s1d; 07-08-2014, 12:14 PM.

Don't panic bro,
champion plugs are used as stock for bajaj bikes.
If you puchase from a service center they give it in the same packaging you mentioned
The excessive lean mixtures you are getting despite re-tuning might be due to excessive air flow to the carb
please check the air filter condition it should not be torn or fitted improperly
are you using K&N filter??
If the air filter looks fine then check the rubber hose which connects the carb to air filter box
The screw clamps must be tight and there should be no cracks or leaks in the tube
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Yes 150 uses the same plugs on both sidesOriginally posted by Sakibchy View PostSorry bro, i forgot to mention, i just used some cloth to clean the electrodes. But the color as and base remains the dark brown and outer tip remains the same whitish grey color

Bosch UR3DC is the part name for spark plugs from Bosch
You will find it on the packaging and on the spark plug itself
And don't worry overheating is from the lean mixture
However do the check the engine oil to be safe..Last edited by V!RU$; 07-08-2014, 03:36 PM.

.. now check your mileage using tankfull to tankfull method(tankfull- ride 100km - tankfull).
Put on some more km and let us see. This looks good enough though, maybe another 1/4 turn either way will hit the sweet spot.. but first put on a few more km and report back with mileage and your observations if any.
And do keep an eye on the engine oil level.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Thankz you very much dear S1d friend and others too. I feel like the tuning thing is good and of course will check out on mileage soon. And post the result right away. I ran the bike for some distance at higher rpm in 5th gear to check how it perform and was hitting 100+ then slowed down. I got my front wheel slightly jam, due to disk pad or disk itself issue, got bent maybe. Once i stared the bike and rolled with an hydraulic lock on ( i know such foolish of me) . But its ok and not too jam. Shouldn't impact on mileage greatly.Originally posted by s1d View PostNow, that's a good color or should i say its perfect

However, i hear some tik tik sound at low rpm, the timing chain is loose. I checked with a slightly longer bolt in the tensioner and the sound disappear. Now is it a good idea to run on like that or go for a timing chain change. Is it such a complicated procedure? Does it require a very good mechanic to do so?

All Bajaj pulsar owners can share this thread for experiences.
problems recently with my bike
Model -Pulsar 150 DTSi ES 2004.
odo- 40000kms
Problem- Electric stater
After purchasing the bike in 2004 this is the first battery that i hav purchased. The previous one did close to 25000 kms .Very recently I got my bike an Exide9MX battery from an authorised dealer.
After 7 days the battery goes low and the self was of no use. Took it back to the dealer and he charged up the battery at no cost. Again , all worked well. But ,again the bike refuses to start when its a bit close.
When I ride harder and for more hrs then only the self start works. I never use self at early morning ,for that reasoon I hav kick start. But I think the problem is not with the battery there is something else. Though the battery is under warranty, so no worries abt that but I dont knw if the stater is ok or not. The horn is better as new which says that the battery is giving juices to the horn. Bike needs to be heated to use the self. So, what may be the problem?
Is the stater gone kaput? or its jst normal with this model?

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Thankz guys, i got rid of the overheating problem and as it seem the bike running on good AFR mixture however a new problem emerged and literally stole a good night sleep. while at idle, the bike would make the infamous tik tik noise. And upto rpm 1800~ 2k. thankz to some Singapore pulsar community, i learned the timing chain goes loose at idle isnt much bad and won't blow out the engine however replacing one is tricky and sometimes its the CCT unit go kaput and hence make the noise. Today baught the tensioner with 400 taka + 150 taka gasket ( total in indian currency arround 300 rs) and so far no tik tik sound heard. Bike run well and gentle. Will check the mileage soon.Originally posted by s1d View PostNow, that's a good color or should i say its perfect
.. now check your mileage using tankfull to tankfull method(tankfull- ride 100km - tankfull).
Put on some more km and let us see. This looks good enough though, maybe another 1/4 turn either way will hit the sweet spot.. but first put on a few more km and report back with mileage and your observations if any.
And do keep an eye on the engine oil level.
