I did read the article. Prior to that I even read Stoner asking the press not to believe what they write.(Some even compared him to Mick Doohan, I didnt get that concept at allOriginally posted by R-series View PostSeven time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi used the same press conference to again insist that he will race on for at least another two years, despite a report in the UK's Daily Telegraph claiming he would retire at the end of 2012.
source Crash.Net | F1 & MotoGP | Motorsport News
btw.. you wouldn't have so many questions if you read the artical
and anyone would lose interest, if their the only one racing in front :P
).
Losing interest, I dont think tat could have been the reason. His comments are so mixed. I remember him talking about CRT(Maybe that is one of the reason).
Then he said, It wont slow him down cuz his a dad(Similar comments to Colin Edwards)
And Now this......
.
Think he should stay. But when would one retire. Some people find it hard to plan their retirement. This maybe a hard news to digest, but well planned,at least according to me.
Anyways, these comments are just my point of view, they are the professionals

Yea, I didnt think of that.

it is indeed a shocking news.

It is a breaking news for all Motogp fans... Even not a fan of Stoner I really salute his ride.... One of the greatest rider.... Miss him horribly....
This is mainly stoner has stated the sports changed a lot and he came to a point where he is not enjoying the sport this is because of the introduction of CRT lack of competitive prototype machines.. People over a period will not like only two manufacturers fight all the way.. Yamaha is struggling with out a title sponsor for two years if it continuous like this then Yamaha will put a end card like it did in WSBK.... If this continuous then motogp will come to an end very shortly

Yamaha RX135 (2000)
Bajaj Pulsar 150 (2004)

Awesome write up as ever!
Well, would HRC recall Dovi for 2013 after all the drama?!
Mr. Elbowz, watch out - Cal's eyes are on your M1!!

^^ Or, it could be Rossi riding that Repsol again?
Nakamoto: Rossi in Honda? Non lo escludo
HRC has already got Pedrosa. They definitely do not want to cash in on any slower rider. As of the day, Stoner and Lorenzo are the only riders faster than Pedrosa, technically. The possibilities are that it'd be among these three riders-Rossi, Lorenzo and Cal. It's a tough call for HRC though. If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

Stoner is Right about CRT though. Its hard to imagine them fighting with the front Runners.(Its only their first year, but still).
Now we have 3 category. Factory, satellite and CRT.
IMO

ya you are correct, Casey was the only rider to manhandle that ducati to victory..Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostNo he cannot take Casey's place. Marc is a rookie and according to MotoGp rules rookies are not allowed a factory ride.
even rossi learned it late..... now again there wont be a good rider to ride HONDA..
Honda is very bad in choosing riders... and wont be winning for some time then..
I dont think so.. coz from 125 & 250 times he lacked the fire that Lor or Casy has.. he is a candidate for Runner up but not a champ.. ped is good but he needs to stay fit and should last a race..Originally posted by Makky View PostMotomatters on Casey's retirement

It wasnt only Stoner's talent that he won on a Ducati. There are lot of key aspects, plus Loris and bayliss have won the Race and the Ducati since then have changed.
I agree to one thing that Stoner Still won race on the CF frame too, and whenever Stoner manhelded it or try to, he'd risk going to the gravels, hence the crashes.
He did good in his first year on the LCR,Minus the crashes. So talent yes, Some very good points why hjis retiring but still moaning..
I still wish he didn't retire.
But a shocker.Ernest Hemingway

rossi is not a slower rider. its because he and his ducati like to race in entirely different styles.Originally posted by shivank View Post^^ Or, it could be Rossi riding that Repsol again?

give rossi a good bike- either lorenzo's or stoner's and then see his speed.

I feel Stoner has been one of the most under-rated riders all through the last few years. From as much as I've seen and come to understand, the likes of Lorenzo and Rossi are the ones to engage in a dogfight, while Stoner likes to concentrate on himself getting ahead, without too much of confrontations with fellow riders.
Yes he doesn't tease fellow contenders like Rossi can or used to, and to many it seemed boring. I would like to describe it as clinical, and doing it with the Ducati was much like doing it with a sharp knife with a loose handle grip. Yet he was the one to do it. At least for my generation of MotoGP spectators.
It was really immature of people to pull him down after his illness in 2009. He made it to the second place in his first race after the return from his so to say, medical leave. He powerslid his way through almost every corner at the Australian GP and went on to win it. As far as I can remember, the MotoGP guys with their fancy camera equipment, kept repeating the powerslide shots in slow motion post the race.
He gave them enough fodder for entertainment for the spectators. And then he went on to win the Malaysian GP in wet weather. All on his then ducati machine, which was considered er...a monster in itself :P.
To me it speaks volumes about how he held on, despite all the criticism and went on to ace it at many of the races thereon. I've been a fan of him a little before these races happened.
But he did not bring enough entertainment to the sport. Or was not good at PR and media strategies. He does not sit with a twitter handle placard on his bike before the race started. He does not wear helmets with a messaging motif. He does not kiss the camera lens after winning or blow air kisses till it gets fogged. Not as much as my memory serves me.
He is just clinical, always hard on the throttle, and makes MotoGP fun in his own way. His disappointments are justified in many ways. I agree with the comment he made on Randy De Puniet.
I will still watch MotoGP to see what it turns into after people like Stoner leave, but I cannot vouch for myself at this point, to be enjoying it then.
About him going to V8 supercar racing, if I were 26(which I am) and was filthy rich (which he is) and without a job, I would still want to do something that gives me the kicks and the financial liquidity.Last edited by speedaholica; 05-19-2012, 04:10 AM.>-----R One Fly----->>
