          • ^^ These two laps are enough to rival with the stoner battle at '08 Laguna seca.

            • absolutely.

but i must say Catalunya '09 is my favourite of the two.

              both the M1's were identical.
and seeing two virtually identical bikes battling it out... was wow.

              the last corner overtake...
where lorenzo left like NO SPACE for rossi to overtake... haha... no space.

stoner always maintained that VR didn't ride fair at Laguna Seca...

but jLo didn't have the chance to say that at Catalunya.

              coz it was that perfect!

OK i'm going to watch the clip again now.

                --

If there's anyone in the world that'd find that space where there's no space - its the doctor. jLo didn't stand a chance.. true, he likely knew that too - but he was brave and had the balls to match it!

I dont want to bash stoner for Laguna seca, But with the kind of pace which rossi was pulling at the '08 season, didn't let me think for even a second that he'd be able to match stoner's pace - Let alone beat him.

That entire duel was simply superb. But nothing gives you goosebumps like watching the M1 mechanics celebrate Rossi's victory against jLo as if he had beaten Stoner..

                    • Is there any one in the paddock right now other than the great man himself to give us something like this ? We want you back in the front Rossi. Do something to the Red machine and just imagine how it would be to see a Ducati in between the Yamahas and the Hondas and some more close races than the boring ones which we are witnessing now

                      • Motogp has become boring. All you see is a certain casey stoner and Jorge Lorenzo. No crazy passing, no thrill!

You guys should start watching this year's World Superbike. Tough tough competition. Leon Haslam, Marco Melandri, Tom sykes, Max Biaggi, Jonathan Rhea, Carlos checa all separated by half a second till the finish.

The donington race 1 and race 2 would probably go as the best finishes in history. Not taking anything out of motogp or Rossi but WSBK is the hottest girl in town now. Anyone can win any race. Its so unpredictable. In five different locations, there have been six different winners - tells you the story!

                        • personally... as a viewer... i'm not necessarily looking for a race to be "eventful".
because, that's not a measure of how talented the rider(s) in question is/are.

yes, it's exciting to see a last lap dogfight with a crash at the last corner...
(i don't think Rea was as excited to win as viewers were excited to watch that last lap "overtake")
but i wouldn't say Rea's win was "earned"

yes... WSBK has some awesome talent... but I like the finesse that MotoGP exudes.

                          • Each has a charm of its own. Wsbk, motogp, moto2 and even moto3.

Imagine 16year olds slugging it out like maniacs. The future Rossies.

Moto 2 provides some awesome 'incident' packed races.

wsbk has got all the manufacturers on more or less equal footing, with very talented riders. Amazing to watch.

But motogp has got the best riders in the world on the best machines. That itself makes it something very special.

                            • It might be true, the GP may have become a bit dull and wsbk is good fun too. There's a lot of close racing involved.

To me, MotoGP and WSBK is like the relevance b/w Formula 1 racing and Touring car championship/Nascar racing.

The GP racers are respective of each other's boundaries, they are skilled to the last bone in their body and know how to push their limits to the extent with rare crashes. The riders are more consistent.

Whereas, the GT racers bump, push, overtake on corners which are meant to be tailed and eventually they run wide, brake mid corner and screw-up the line of the guy that follows, etc. They do overtake, but at times it looks as if they got the position but dont know where to go from there. There's no follow-through or less of defensive riding involved.

Many of these could be found even on the clip posted above and we cannot say it is an unfair way of racing. It is just the way they race and thats what makes it what it is.

Its good fun to the viewer but the level of skill involved and mutual respect for each other's abilities are a little on the lesser side (IMHO) when pitted against MotoGP.
