A couple of videos of the Sepang Test. Watch the comfort levels of different riders. Hayden and Dovi seem to be sitting on a bunch of needles, Iannone seems more comfortable than them.
Among the rookies Marquez is 0.536 seconds slower than the fastest Honda of Pedrosa.
Bradley Smith is 1.664 seconds slower than the fastest Yamaha of Lorenzo.
Iannone is 0.68 seconds slower than the fastest Ducati of Hayden.
Michael Laverty is 1.533 seconds faster than his team mate Hernandez at PBM.
Claudio Corti is 0.806 seconds faster than teammate Edwards.
Lucas Pesek is 0.79 seconds slower than teammate Petrucci.
So by comparing to riders on same machinery 33 year old Laverty from BSB is the best rookie so far!! Among the prototypes Marquez is the most succesful rookie till now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Iannone going faster than the factory Ducatis every now and then, considering how inconsistent he can be
