Didn't know Bautista's contract for 2014. It's blurry - remember reading somewhere that if, he underperforms this year, he 'll be shown the door. Well, I had Cal taking Bautista's seat in my story.

^^Ya but according to my poor memory it says they renewed his contract at the start of this year ... but if your case is true then I think Gresni Honda will be the best place for Cal than Works Ducati

        Yamaha RX135 (2000)
        Bajaj Pulsar 150 (2004)

They are gonna a lose a front running rider and gonna bring a rider who will be fighting for the top 10 places

I doubt it will be Yamaha's loss. No sport or game relies on any individual. Momentarily it may seem to be a huge loss, but looking at the big picture it makes sense. From what i read and understand, Yamaha is eyeing Pol Esparago, to groom him to take on Marc Marquez.

Investing in Pol seems to be a better idea and plan for Yamaha, with Jorge Lorenzo, Cal and Rossi getting old.

And honestly at the moment it looks like Pol Esparago is one of the few riders who can take the fight to Marc Marquez in the coming seasons. Their duel in Moto 2 last season was worth watching.

          The show just goes on.

Agree with you on everything, except Pol seems nowhere close to doing a Marquez. So if Yamaha depends too much on Pol being the future, they might just be barking up the wrong tree.

On the other hand, trying out someone like Sykes or Rea might be a smart move.

Add to that, Dorna might not really be too keen on having another Spaniard at the front.

That topic is subjective. Having seen them fight earlier, I am sure he is one of those guys who can take on Marc. When it comes to aggression Marc and Pol are both head to head.

If a team like Yamaha is betting on Pol, theres something in this guy and lets not get into territory where we think we are smarter than those teams running the show especially when they have a lot of investment in the sport.

Pol is a good rider but we cannot bet too much on him and also we cannot say that he can straight away take on Marquez ..... He can be performing like Stefan Bradl fighting for 4 and 5th places ... So as of now retaining a rider who is in good shape is a wise idea Rossi may be retiring next season that time they can bring in Cal to the factory team and hunt for a new talent for tech 3.If Pol is hired by a different team Yamaha also have a time to analyze his potential in Motogp .... Most talented intermediate riders like Aoyoma, Toni Elias, Hector Barbera, Bautista, etc didn't shine in Motogp..... Only few like Lorenzo, Rossi, Marc, Simoncelli, Dani etc showed their potential....

Yamaha doesn't want riders from WSBK and repeat what they faced with Ben Spies and Colin Edwards

You never know what's gonna happen when he enters MotoGP. It's a much bigger risk than retaining Cal. One thing is for sure, Tech3 is kicking itself for having signed Smith for 2 seasons.

A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

Although, Bradl snatched the Moto2 title, he's nowhere close to the big boys in the premier class. But, Marquez is right on top.

Marquez is still 'learning' and only God knows what 'd happen when he gets there. It 'll be a repeat of Stoner's 2011 season in MotoGP, perhaps.

hahaha! Someone had thought of it a few years ago!

Had he thought about Rizla Suzuki? It wasn't closer to the championship-winning M1 but, neither was M1 back in 2004!
The way Bautista and his team made it work in the latter part of the season makes me feel that the machine could have done something very impressive at the hands of Rossi(and his team).
It'll no longer be about winning races and championships. They need an old fart who exactly knows what works and what doesn't. He 'll be the next Eddie Lawson.

                    ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Once upon a time, a young Stoner looked at Toni Elias and said, "Wow! I want to ride like him." Fast forward to 2011 - Stoner scores 350 and takes the championship with no sweat whatsoever while Elias struggles for a mere 61 finishing 15th. It's a cruel world.

Tried the one-finger operation after watching Eddie Lawson's video. Must say, it felt incredibly sexy with brake set-up as good as that of RTR. Basically, 'm a two-finger rider.

I remember an article I read about braking techniques used by various racers. While Rossi uses all 4 fingers, Stoner only ever used one, the ring finger that too!!! Yet Rossi is known as the guy who brakes after everyone else and their grandfathers have finished braking. So, there is no hard and fast rule as to which is a better form of braking.

Personally, the most enjoyable part of riding a motorcycle for me is the brakes. So I keep trying to brake as late and as hard as possible. Now I have become a reasonably good braker. Better than all those on the road for sure Saved my bacon from getting roasted on many an occasion.

Yes, to each one his own. I used to be a 4-finger rider for a long time after I started riding. Well, for me, the best part is winding that throttle in second to hit the sweet spot, shifting to third and opening the throttle again. RTR's throttle is highly addictive. I wouldn't trade it with anything, up to a certain extent.
