Disastor weekend for yamaha...and more so for lorenzo....

But why only these two ppl were able to destroy the right side of front tyre...while for others...it was ok.

^^

btw lorenzo's tyres didnt go off...rossi's, bradl's and redding's did...lorenzo was running the podium pace all through the race (well except for that jump start blunder) and his pace was strong all the way till the end that he probably would have had not only aleix but also rossi if the race had been 2-3 laps longer.

Careful what you wish for, R-series! VR gets all my attention but, even on a very good race day, he can manage only a 2nd if, you know what I mean.

oops..that's ok then..We'll choose the next favourite when he retires

regarding the tyre issues even Iannone had the same trouble who was in 3rd position for around 70% of the race and finished in 7th at the end. Ans it wasn't only the Factory Teams facing the issue..Hayden had that same trouble and said "the tyres began to grain". It wasn't 1 or 2, but multiple riders who had that issue with the front right side of the tyre.

Lorenzo on the other had (without the jump start) could have stuck behind the Repsols for 3rd spot on the podium considering the pace he was running.

yeah iannone too, forgot about him...didnt know of hayden's similar situation.

it seems except the repsols everyone's tyres are troubling them in the various sessions of one race weekend or the other of the 2 weekends we have had so far....

bridgestone's contracts are up this year and lately i have been seeing some rumour about doubts they may not be the tyre supplier from next year onwards..who the hell will be then ? michelin ? dunlop ? i am not sure any of them has shown any interest in joining motogp and apparently pirelli has explicitly already expressed that (apparently they aren't so enthusiastic about continuing to supply the SBK and SSP grids either)..

Add Bradl to the list of guys who suffered front tyre trouble at the end of the race. Dovi and Smith were the ones who profited by going slow in the initial half of the race according to Motomatters summary.

Factory bikes on the podium yet again! Even after giving so much to Satellite bikes they doesnt seem to have an competitive edge with the factory bike. Race at the front at Austin went to a boring mode after couple of laps. All the action was behind 1 and 2. Rossi, Iannone suffered from tyre problem something that they cant do much about it. I thought Rossi would finish on podium behind Dani, but it was Dovi who surprised everyone, even his team, loved the celebration in the Ducati garage. They almost forgot how to celebrate after Stoner went out. Hope Cal is OK after the crash, would want to see him back on red Ducati for next race.

And what a start of the race, a rookie mistake by Lorenzo to jump start the race. What I recon he wanted to have a blistering start of the race similar to Qatar where he crashed while leading but looks like he released the clutch little sooner than later, good fight back from Jorge getting into points tally.

I dont think its completely over for Yamaha yet, its just confidence and focus which is lacking in Jorge's matter. Remember 2010 season when he mimicked Rossi in every way to grab his unwanted attention to unsettle Rossi. Same thing is happening with Lorenzo now, but the only thing is, it is not intentional by Marc. I am sure Jorge must be having nightmares of Marc.

If it continues like this then it will be a boring MotoGP season similar to Schumi at F1. BTW who tested and and developed the current Honda Factory Bike? Casey Stoner I think? Talk about developing a negative bike, turned into a world beater.

Lorenzo's explanation of the error:

"I wasn't thinking and was distracted and I made a big mistake in the start, when I arrived for the start I had a lot of mosquitoes on my helmet so I took a tear off, which I never do and for sure this distracted my focus a little. Also the lights went on to red very late, more late than normal. Usually they are red before we arrive on the grid. I don't know why, when I saw the red lights turn on, like a bull, I started to go! I made the best start of my life! But it was illegal so I had to enter the pits and pay the penalty. I didn't wait for the message. I came straight in.I just tried to push at the maximum afterwards and stay calm to get the best result but the race was almost over for me. I want to say sorry to the team as I destroyed my race, but at least I didn't crash because it was a difficult situation with the tension and it was easy to make a mistake and get injured."

For next race Lorenzo should have Mortein painted on his helmet to ward off mosquitoes

But he sure had lot more dead bugs on his helmet than anyone else. Most boring race ever. In this form Marc will just make it lot more boring.
How much I want to see him start from 10th place and move up fighting others to the podium, like he did in Moto2. Ahh...thats not happening anytime soon.

Maverisk Vinales has my vote to be the next Champion.

Wow!!
That tyre seems worst then Marc's tyre at PI last year.
Lorenzo suprised me during his warm up practice. Then again at the start of the race,

No wonder why Rossi's pace dropped, and logically so, risking it for podium finish would have had even more dangerous consequences. Well done Rossi for not crashing and finishing the race!
