  • Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates

Guys, Dont forget Rossi had to wade through and overtake so many bikes before he hit the front so techincally he would have used a lot of rubber than Marquez and remember Marquez was on hard compund (which really helps at the later part of the race). I somehow feel Rossi would have been slipping & sliding lots and looking at Lorenzo go down like that he would have wanted to play it safe at the end. Nevertheless, what a show and so nice to Rossi at the front right from the word go! I would want to see many more of these and to see the old fox coming on top every time
Young riders pick a destination and go, Old riders pick a direction and go !

It was a bit strange for me not to see Cal and his Ducati lose the front end with the way both behave. That ex-Aprilia boss is doing a good job - taming 2 finicky creatures at the paddock at the same time!

I might be wrong, but thats just my view...

But cant take away from both the riders, for keeping the rubber side down and giving us a nice battle to watch.

I wish the next race was Jerez and not Austin. It has such a long straight ,
i agree, marc was braking later than rossi at some occasions. may be it was due to his bike, or his ability, or feel or that he was riding on hard compound rear tyres so had a benefit towards the end of race. love rossi for what he did.

in fact, in that race there was very thin line between adequately fast and too fast, those riding too fast did not complete the race.

I actually felt the other way. The data actually shows Repsol was faster on straights. In the 2nd last lap Marc went faster through some corners to increase the gap from Rossi so that he doesn't have a chance at Turn 1 of the next lap. Then the little devil posts his fastest lap in the last lap to run away from the veteran. Rossi stated that Marquez was faster at some corners and was braking really hard. It was at other corners where Rossi was able to use the corner entry of the M1 to come close to the RCV. The top speed difference came to be around 6-7kmph during the race. Rossi - 341.8, Marc - 348.3kmph.

I downloaded the race to watch the whole scenario. The reason why Rossi was able to stick with Marcquez on the straight I feel, is the corner speed he carried in the last corner, which might have been more than the RCV. But I can be wrong.

I also think Austin is not a right time to race, but the reason would be that he's blasted the competition over there being a rookie, now he's a World Champion, don't know what he'll do.

Did anyone notice this big stoppie from Marc at the end of Lap 7(on the straight)..? That was when Rossi closed in at Turn one 1 but marc blocked him from passing.

O.T - the British commentary team don't know how to say Espargaro. They say Espagaro.

              SPOT ON!!

The M1 is extremely well suited to the Losail circuit and the entry into the final corner + drive into the main straight from the M1 seemed better. It is just the raw grunt of the RCV that carried Marquez earlier into C1...not to mention that Rossi had the slipstream advantage.
Somewhere, a couple of posts earlier, someone said about Rossi loosing grip at the end but that is not true; not at least the way it was seen. Rossi appeared to have conjured up the entire decades of experience and M1 capability to fight with Marquez but in the end the better rider on the faster machine won.
For those who might not have considered, the hard compound on Marquez's RCV must have given him quite a lot of trouble earlier on when it was cold; not to mention the way he must have had to ride or brake (especially for left corners) even when the temperature went into the suitable band.

Good first race. Let's wait for a couple of more races before we declare that the Doctor has arrived.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

I was there to cover the MotoGP event with a media pass. It was an awesome experience at Losail watching the MotoGP bikes flying just meters in-front of you. Sometimes I forgot to click and just watch them closer through my lens.

I watched it 3 times today, each time that same feeling - if Rossi just had a little bit more in his bike

You have a PM from me. And yes, 46 vs 93 was too good to watch. Somehow I felt that Rossi was entering the 1st corner too slow and there was where MM was picking up. Rossi braked late but MM braked still later.

Personally I feel the media guys just give credit to anything if things go well and blame the rider if they go wrong.

                                Those are wonderful pics mate.

I personally feel it was youth, talent and courage that won the race. Marc took the courage of going past Rossi on a corner and sticking it up. Rossi tried the same but cud not keep up. Marc is young, talented, hungry and not afraid to fall. Hats off to Rossi for showing a good fight, but I think Marc is just lot better on a supposedly better bike.

Having said that I still unknowingly jump with joy whenever I see Rossi get past anyone. I was ecstatic to see Rossi lead the race briefly. Heart wants Rossi to win desperately but mind knows its tough. Rossi is peoples champion I guess.
