Yamaha deny Jorge Lorenzo open test request.

"Lorenzo believes the extra four litres of fuel and softer tyres that are allowed in the Open category to help balance performance between the factory prototypes gives them a significant advantage.
But Lorenzo’s pleas to evaluate the Open class Yamaha that fellow Spaniard Espargaro and Colin Edwards will race fell on deaf ears."

Qatar MotoGP: Lorenzo boosted by 'complete' seamless gearbox | MotoGP News

Yamaha's previous seamless gearbox, used in 2013 was not a complete seamless. The 1st gear was a conventional shift. From 2nd onwards it was a seamless. Although it makes only a fraction of a second difference but here we all know that a fraction of a second is the difference between Champion and runner up.
This time, Yamaha have been able to develop a complete seamless gearbox, which now also includes the 1st gear.

But then there will be even lesser improvements considering that very few times and on only a certain circuits they have to clog into 1st gear at corners. If there's an overall improvement in the seamless gearbox then its a different story.

Did you know, our very own Vale is about to set another recording starting this weekend's Grand Prix.

He will have the most point scoring finishes in Grand Prix racing if he finishes in a point scoring position this weekend.

Update on the new hard compound tires:

"Bridgestone have brought a new construction rear tire for 2014, stiffer to cope with greater temperature loads. That has killed the edge grip for the Yamaha M1, which the bike needs to exploit its advantage in corner speed. At the same time, it has offered more support to the point-and-shoot style of the Honda, which needs to be picked up as quickly as possible and then hammered out of the corner. A new tire is expected later in the year, but for now, Yamaha have to make do with what they have."

              "
At a fuel heavy track, with a tire that suits his bike, even a Marquez back from injury will be hard to beat. With a good start at the first race, and heading to two more tracks that suit the Honda – Austin and Argentina – Marquez should get his season off to a strong start. If he builds up too much of a gap early in the season, it will get harder and harder to catch him. Seen from Qatar, it is hard to see the season going down to Valencia like it did last year."

In such a case, Lorenzo's best bet would be an injury for the current World Champion.

i am watching motogp FP1 at the moment. session just red-flagged due to loads of dust and gravel thrown out on track at turn 16 from yonny's crash just a few minutes ago. they are cleaning it now and should be open just any minute now.

I was desperately looking out for Bradley to come good. Finishing third battling with, the likes of Esparg and Baust a challenge, But happy for Brad that, he had a great race to start off with:thumbup:

The Satellites and the Open class have already tested at Qatar few days ago. So they would definitley have an advantage at least in the opening sessions.

I'm sure the factories would show their true colors and yamaha their new colors in the QP and Race.

those new rules about extra fuel, extra engines and soft rubber will surely play its part in this season

^^^ Dirty track and non-factory testing two weeks back at Losail is one of the main reasons of FP1 results. Hayden on the production racer is faster than Marquez on a factory bike

When asked about the confusion on the various classes Rossi's reply was: "A little bit of confusion, yeas but at the end older riders doesnt care a lot about thiiss. Usually for us the important is try to go on the track and give the maximum and go as fast as possible and the important at the end will be on sunday and the whole weekend we can seea good practice and a good race and a good show for the people and at the end the the result after the checquered flag would be the important and the rest is not important for us!"

This is why I like him, the atttitude simply unmatched!

Cal's words on the same "I think the rules are fine, Dorna is doing a good job to help us... Thanks!"
