Just waiting for the auto journos to get the their hands on cbr150r for a detailed road test. Then only we can comment whether its price is justified or not. Then, it would be very interesting to read this review - 'R15 vs CBR150R'
I guess we are all waiting for this.

Hey Sudhir, it'll be interesting to know what made you go for CBR150R than R15.Originally posted by Sudhir88 View PostNot 2 months.. 1st batch of bike will reach showroom by end of march it seems.. Bike will be delivered in April (1st week) at least for me
.. I m the first person to book it there.. will keep u posted about the delivery date

Also, don't you think it would have been better to spend 20000 odd more and get CBR250R?

+100 It would have been much better but it depends on one's budget & riding environment.. CBR 250 is a heavy bike & will become Handful in traffic...Also there will be considerable difference in mileage as well.Originally posted by hss View PostAlso, don't you think it would have been better to spend 20000 odd more and get CBR250R?Don't Honk Unnecessarily

First thought of going for CBR 250(ABS), FE(around 32kmpl) and Price(1.91 L approx) is out of my league.. i personally felt 250cc for daily usage is a waste for me, so i narrowed it to 150cc.Originally posted by hss View PostHey Sudhir, it'll be interesting to know what made you go for CBR150R than R15.

Since I am tired of owing unicorn , so i decided to go for a sporty looking bike with decent FE
Had only two options R15 v2.0 or CBR150R
IMO...
R15 v2.0 as pillion seat , back pain problem and FE .. i m 6ft, i drove my friend bike, handling is topnotch, but i have to bend more to drive n didnt feel comfortable with it after a while and I dont like twin head lamps in general ..
When i saw Baby CBR150r in auto expo, i loved it...
1. Looks like cbr250r
2. FE (Honda claims 56kmpl, i m expecting atleast 40+ kmpl in city)
3. Technology (DOHC Engine)
4. Muffler looks better than cbr250r
5. New aged sporty graphics( i have booked Black+ palm green)
6. Durability (u can trust Honda n Yamaha in this)
Honda is known for producing powerful engine with decent FE .. Ya price is heavy, i was expecting around 1.25L, but i m going for it

"My first new full faired sports bike"
I've been following and reading all the news and reviews in xbhp for two years now.
For years i wanted to get a new bike which would be a replica of bigger sports bike with less displacement and price. When the news about yamaha R15 first came in 2008 i was excited and waited and didn't found it to be substantially big enough as i expected and decided against it. Im 6ft 2 and average built and was looking for a bike with full sport fairing and good looking that would suit me. Over the years i even considered karizma, zmr ,yamaha fazer and even RE's but they never matched up to my requirements.
In 2010 , I heard the rumours and news that Honda was gonna launch a CBR 150r. But they actually went one up and decided to launch Honda CBR 250r. And since the day of speculation to the day of launch i was hooked on to xbhp for any kind of update and pics and comments- Which were all really exciting to read and they helped me hold on to my nerves n get through till the day of the launch.
The Honda CBR 250r finally launched in march end 2011. I was waiting for the display bike to show up in my city (Hyd). I guess it came in the last week of march and i wanted to go see it but did'nt got the time from work. A few days later i met with an accident on my bike. It wasn't cool and neither was the injury. The honda showroom was next to the hospital i was admitted in. I remember tellin my dad to go and check out the bike once. I was discharged in a few days and was told that i couldn't drive a bike for couple of months and was advised to take bed rest for a month or so.
Funny thing is i started riding again in 40 days. And a few months later we went to check out the cbr250 , i saw it in person and it was awesome and the price quoted was 1.63L for it but i decided against it as i came to know that the similar looking cbr 150r would be launching in few months with a lesser price tag around 1.2L maybe. And i was also curious for the new R15 v2.0 to come. Also heard about the KTM duke, although it was not fully faired, but it still got my attention.
Year 2012
-Was hoping Auto Expo would showcase plenty more bikes in the sports category of indian market and was surprised with the launch of CBR 150r as it wasn't expected by any one
-Thanks to XBHP, came to know about the bookings that were started for CBR150r last week
-The very next day went to honda, hyosung, yamaha, KTM and even RE's showrooms to finalize and justify my Choice
1. Went to a Honda showroom and asked the Sales guy about cbr150r bookings- and he said it was still not open.
Asked him about Cbr250r and he said that std version is unavailable and only the c-abs is up for sale.
Asked him for a test drive, for 250r .The power and the feel was good and so was the noise and handling but only downside was that the handle bar was touching my knee while taking a turn. Overall, i was quite positive about my choice.
2. Went to Hyosung to check gt650r , since the soon to be launched gt250r would be same in size and proportions. It was big and substantial, but somehow i the design didn't tickle me and the built quality wasn't good either.
-The sales guy told the bookings would be starting next month
-Bike expected in May for around 2L
-Gt650r test drive bike expected next week
-Cost was not known but he said that the gt650r was 5.3L and gt650n was 4.5L. (some discount as it won a ndtv award)
3. Just across the road was yamaha, Checked out R15 again, it still didnt seem good to me.details i found from the sales guy
-no test drive
-1.24L price
4.Next stop was KTM, and within 2mins i got a test drive of KTM duke and the power and sound of it was just wicked. But again it didn't felt substantially big enough, so knocked it off my list. Even chked out the kwacker but its console is outdated n too pricey.
5.Although i wasn't keen on getting one but i still Went to the RE shop, i asked him about the bullet and the funny reply i got was it just has a period of 1year n 6months only.....
-chrome had 9months waiting
-thunderbird had 6months
-AND I cant wait any longer.
6.Their was another honda Showroom on the way over their, so i enquired about cbr150r booking and they said
-Bookings are open and 5 already have been made and the booking amount is 5k(refundable), but the next day i found that i was the 2nd one to book it
-Price is 1.33L on road
-Expect the delivery in first week of april
-Test drive next week onwards
-Suprisingly, CBR250r standard which is 1.63L is NOW unavailable from HONDA plant.
-
Next Day, i decided to book the CBR150r , for the following reasons
- Prices for Honda cbr250r std and Honda cbr250r abs are same in both India and thailand. However,The price for cbr150r is 1.25L in thailand which is 8k less than 1.33L in india, but it was a good deal for me, and the gap of 30k between 250r std and 150r in india was ok for me,
-Looks same as cbr250r except with smaller engine, small tyres and discs.
- Better FE and less weight of cbr 150r than cbr250r ( No other bikes in competition for me to compare it with)
- Honda Build quality and good looks
- gt250r would have been perfect for me, but i checked the international review n its that kind of a bike, which aint gonna last long apart from bad build quality
-KTM Duke is just small
-R15 is aggressive looking, but i dont like the seating position or the pillion seat.
-karizma ZMR is just bulky
Finally, I got it and just waiting for next week to test drive her and hope that i'll find what i've been waiting for so long. "My first new full faired sports bike". I will pick between black green or red white color.
Final Fact:
Sachin scored his 99th ton last year when i decided that i will buy the CBR250r, but as you know i didn't.. A year goes by as the master waits and tries to get to his 100th ton. And the day my cbr150r got booked , was the same day he scores

Anyway compared to R15, CBR150R doesn't feature anything new other than FE claim & DOHC; anyday I'd prefer R15 over CBR 150R for twin headlamps & proven record for over 3+ years, considering the fact HMSI is promoting C150R as track oriented motorcycle + for additional 20-30K more I move into a new segment altogether; but that's me.
Congratulations & looking forward to hear your ownership review

Also 20K more and you get a std. 250cc bike which you can boast off. The CBR250R cannot be compared to tiny 150cc engines. I love CBR 250.
Whats there in a signature?

Its not about loving CBR 250ROriginally posted by Enthusiastic View PostVery well said...CBR 250.
, the reason sited for 150R is quite amusing to me. Even if you discard the looks, saying they're subjective, its understandable. But post 2009 GT250R's are having less issues (than the previous years), saying D200 is not big (post this in ownership thread
); anyway GT250R is also a matter of time, ignore for the moment (consider the fact the new ones are on the way & hopefully issues are addressed)
Points like, price being the same between India & Thailand, 250R STD discarded from production are only to be Lol
Anyway, its his choice & I do respect it, I only voiced my opinion.
Pls see Sudhir88's points; I guess he's done a lot of good homework & I feel it suits him for his requirement.Last edited by aargee; 03-19-2012, 10:41 PM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
