Why else would they kill their own well established product?
they are giving the average customers the feeling that demands are huge for unicorn on the other hand they are promoting less established dazzler.and the question remains why do i race?

If I had to choose between R150 and cbr150r, My personal choice would be R15.
Because, I have ridden many bikes and found that all honda, Hm, bajaj, tvs have same line of quality, except Yahama who are on the different planet altogether. Personally I think R15 is better looking. It's not like it's a perfect bike, but I think, it's very good at what it does.
It's my personal opinion and not pointed to anyone.

but whats with bike manufacturers nowadays don't see any tvc at all.
shouldn't they be promoting on TV , its not like they are passing the cash saved down to the customer. You can only go as fast as you can brake!

Good choice....Don't forgot to write a review and images after delivery...Originally posted by knightfly View PostI've been following and reading all the news and reviews in xbhp for two years now.
For years i wanted to get a new bike which would be a replica of bigger sports bike with less displacement and price. When the news about yamaha R15 first came in 2008 i was excited and waited and didn't found it to be substantially big enough as i expected and decided against it. Im 6ft 2 and average built and was looking for a bike with full sport fairing and good looking that would suit me. Over the years i even considered karizma, zmr ,yamaha fazer and even RE's but they never matched up to my requirements.
In 2010 , I heard the rumours and news that Honda was gonna launch a CBR 150r. But they actually went one up and decided to launch Honda CBR 250r. And since the day of speculation to the day of launch i was hooked on to xbhp for any kind of update and pics and comments- Which were all really exciting to read and they helped me hold on to my nerves n get through till the day of the launch.
The Honda CBR 250r finally launched in march end 2011. I was waiting for the display bike to show up in my city (Hyd). I guess it came in the last week of march and i wanted to go see it but did'nt got the time from work. A few days later i met with an accident on my bike. It wasn't cool and neither was the injury. The honda showroom was next to the hospital i was admitted in. I remember tellin my dad to go and check out the bike once. I was discharged in a few days and was told that i couldn't drive a bike for couple of months and was advised to take bed rest for a month or so.
Funny thing is i started riding again in 40 days. And a few months later we went to check out the cbr250 , i saw it in person and it was awesome and the price quoted was 1.63L for it but i decided against it as i came to know that the similar looking cbr 150r would be launching in few months with a lesser price tag around 1.2L maybe. And i was also curious for the new R15 v2.0 to come. Also heard about the KTM duke, although it was not fully faired, but it still got my attention.
Year 2012
-Was hoping Auto Expo would showcase plenty more bikes in the sports category of indian market and was surprised with the launch of CBR 150r as it wasn't expected by any one
-Thanks to XBHP, came to know about the bookings that were started for CBR150r last week
-The very next day went to honda, hyosung, yamaha, KTM and even RE's showrooms to finalize and justify my Choice
1. Went to a Honda showroom and asked the Sales guy about cbr150r bookings- and he said it was still not open.
Asked him about Cbr250r and he said that std version is unavailable and only the c-abs is up for sale.
Asked him for a test drive, for 250r .The power and the feel was good and so was the noise and handling but only downside was that the handle bar was touching my knee while taking a turn. Overall, i was quite positive about my choice.
2. Went to Hyosung to check gt650r , since the soon to be launched gt250r would be same in size and proportions. It was big and substantial, but somehow i the design didn't tickle me and the built quality wasn't good either.
-The sales guy told the bookings would be starting next month
-Bike expected in May for around 2L
-Gt650r test drive bike expected next week
-Cost was not known but he said that the gt650r was 5.3L and gt650n was 4.5L. (some discount as it won a ndtv award)
3. Just across the road was yamaha, Checked out R15 again, it still didnt seem good to me.details i found from the sales guy
-no test drive
-1.24L price
4.Next stop was KTM, and within 2mins i got a test drive of KTM duke and the power and sound of it was just wicked. But again it didn't felt substantially big enough, so knocked it off my list. Even chked out the kwacker but its console is outdated n too pricey.
5.Although i wasn't keen on getting one but i still Went to the RE shop, i asked him about the bullet and the funny reply i got was it just has a period of 1year n 6months only.....
-chrome had 9months waiting
-thunderbird had 6months
-AND I cant wait any longer.
6.Their was another honda Showroom on the way over their, so i enquired about cbr150r booking and they said
-Bookings are open and 5 already have been made and the booking amount is 5k(refundable), but the next day i found that i was the 2nd one to book it
-Price is 1.33L on road
-Expect the delivery in first week of april
-Test drive next week onwards
-Suprisingly, CBR250r standard which is 1.63L is NOW unavailable from HONDA plant.
-
Next Day, i decided to book the CBR150r , for the following reasons
- Prices for Honda cbr250r std and Honda cbr250r abs are same in both India and thailand. However,The price for cbr150r is 1.25L in thailand which is 8k less than 1.33L in india, but it was a good deal for me, and the gap of 30k between 250r std and 150r in india was ok for me,
-Looks same as cbr250r except with smaller engine, small tyres and discs.
- Better FE and less weight of cbr 150r than cbr250r ( No other bikes in competition for me to compare it with)
- Honda Build quality and good looks
- gt250r would have been perfect for me, but i checked the international review n its that kind of a bike, which aint gonna last long apart from bad build quality
-KTM Duke is just small
-R15 is aggressive looking, but i dont like the seating position or the pillion seat.
-karizma ZMR is just bulky
Finally, I got it and just waiting for next week to test drive her and hope that i'll find what i've been waiting for so long. "My first new full faired sports bike". I will pick between black green or red white color.
Final Fact:
Sachin scored his 99th ton last year when i decided that i will buy the CBR250r, but as you know i didn't.. A year goes by as the master waits and tries to get to his 100th ton. And the day my cbr150r got booked , was the same day he scores

I think he's refering to teh size of the bike and not the engine capacity\capability. And FYI, the duke is small in the ergonomics sense. Im 5-11" and my legs were cramped on the duke. My knees were fighting for space with the tank's side extensions. The user in question being 6-1", its no surprise he found it small. If that werent the case, I see absolutely no practical reason to go for the cbr150r instead of the duke.Originally posted by aargee View Postsaying D200 is not big (post this in ownership thread

Damn honda and their stupid pricing. Somebody needs to wake up suzuki.
Although I can imagine the price will probably be worth it when some tuner gets a hold of the engine and squeezes out some serious "r15 ball busting" performance, courtesy of the dohc.

Chennai On Road is Rs 1,35,937 Dlx n Rs 1,34,806 StdOriginally posted by maayank View Postxbhpians...see price of 150r on honda's website.now the ex showroom price(delhi) is INR 1,18,562 for std(on 16th march it was 1,16,385) and INR 1,19,581 FOR DELUXE(earlier it was 1.17,385)..!!!!wow...price increased within just 4 days.i seriously doubt who is going to buy at this price.....!!!!this is even more expensive then introductory price of d200...
.. Price is impacted by the burden of 2% increase in the excise duty.. The prices of two wheelers(Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj, Yamaha, Suzuki, TVS n HMSI etc) are also likely to revise by about 2% starting April 2012 in India. This will mean a price increase ranging between Rs. 600 for an entry level commuter motorcycle to up to Rs. 2000 for high end sporty motorcycles
I am gonna buy it n IMO i cant blame Honda for 2% hike (since the price is already high excluding excise duty)

Apparently then the Duke 200 and the CBR 150R will be sold for the exact same price! Excise hike will hit Duke too and will raise the *introductory* price by 2%.
So it comes down to "Full Fairing + Reliable brand Vs Horsepower + Phattest Tires" Lets see who wins. Whoever does though, the customer is the ultimate winner.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
