a bike is not all about bhp figures. i only meant to say that the cbr is not a track tool likr the r15. since the 15 is a track tool it offersd a lot more fun. i am sure the r15 frame will give better handling than any thing else. personally ,if the cbr is launched at 1.5k i ll immediately buy it . but i will not sell my r15. all bikes have different purposes.soory for ot. i dont want to start any brand war. i also like to point that the ninja is a step ahead of this cbr in terms of performance though they are both 250.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostYou want to compare a 17 bhp bike with 26 bhp? And you feel that the power surge at 7k or R15 will not be matched by 26-bhp 250R?
Oh God!!
superbikes are the biggest blunders on indian roads.

I completely beg to differ with you and I do not want to discuss this here. FYI, the old CBR150R itself beats the R-15 by huge margin.Originally posted by akhilmuraleedhar View Posta bike is not all about bhp figures. i only meant to say that the cbr is not a track tool likr the r15. since the 15 is a track tool it offersd a lot more fun. i am sure the r15 frame will give better handling than any thing else. personally ,if the cbr is launched at 1.5k i ll immediately buy it . but i will not sell my r15. all bikes have different purposes.soory for ot. i dont want to start any brand war. i also like to point that the ninja is a step ahead of this cbr in terms of performance though they are both 250.
My above comments were in reply of the power surge of R15 that you were speaking of. The handling and fun factor, we will discuss this once the ride test for 250R available.Last edited by ravi@17bhp; 10-30-2010, 12:51 PM.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

One can't just comment on the Track Worthiness of a bike by simply looking at its photos or reading its tech. specs. One has to ride it "On a Race Track" for that.Originally posted by akhilmuraleedhar View Posta bike is not all about bhp figures. i only meant to say that the cbr is not a track tool likr the r15. since the 15 is a track tool it offersd a lot more fun. i am sure the r15 frame will give better handling than any thing else. personally ,if the cbr is launched at 1.5k i ll immediately buy it . but i will not sell my r15. all bikes have different purposes.soory for ot. i dont want to start any brand war. i also like to point that the ninja is a step ahead of this cbr in terms of performance though they are both 250.
And according to BSMotoring, the test ride at the Thailand Track has proved that the CBR250R can handle the track as well.
Any by the way, the CBR250R with its relaxed ergonomics and (what it seems to be) a "relaxed engine" would be much more suitable for India and appeal to larger base than a high revving unit . After all the only race track open to the 100 plus crore Indian Public is at Chennai and Coimbatore.
And according to my opinion, majority of the guys who buy the R15 buy it because it has got that front fairing.
Believe for most Indians the term "pick up" simply means acceleration at "Low Revs"..!!
As I see it the CBR250R is the worthy upgrade to the Karizma with much better aesthetics.

Thats like someone saying an RD350 doesn't have the excitement of an RX100. Leaves me speechless ALL the time!

Ninja - 250cc, parallel twin @ 33bhp @ 300000 INR
CBR - 250cc, single @26bhp @ 150000 INR
No S**t Sherlock!!
Well said. Just like the R15 wiped the slate clean when it came to track use leaving the Karizma, P220 and RTRs fae behind, you simply cannot measure track performance based on looks. the quality of the suspension, brakes, steering geometry all contribute a lot more to a lap time than just the engine. Remember, around the MMSC track the TZ125 is faster than the TZ250/350. if I am not mistaken the lap record for the track is on a TZ125 (maybe Killer can correct me here).Originally posted by payengOne can't just comment on the Track Worthiness of a bike by simply looking at its photos or reading its tech. specs. All I can say is, don't get your panties up in a bunch over the launch of a new bike. Rejoice in the fact that FINALLY someone is bringing in reasonable performance at a reasonable price. I'd much rather have a single cylinder, new-tech, liquid cooled 400cc Honda @3L
Think of the bike market now...
Honda CRF230 - 0.9L 19bhp
CBR250R - 1.5L 26bhp
CBR400R - 3L 37bhp
CBR600RR - 6L 120bhp
CBR1000RR - 14L 190bhp
Does that make you smile? I think the Honda approach should be "Grow with Honda". Start small and as your income increases and skills increase, keep moving up. Attractice buy-back programs and other incentives will keep Honda above everybody else.
Right now only Enfield and Yamaha offers any "after-sales" value at all to their customers with track-days and other events. Harley had an inaugural ride but that was it.Kriss : 15.06.1981 - 11.10.2009
You will not be forgotten...RIP

Heck, if this bike actually is coming here, I'll have to start planning on buying one after I put enough time on my P220. Might not be the most powerful, it has the goodies that are required. Hopefully, Honda will train their service personnel well to deal with the FI system.
I'm betting this bike will see a lot of takers, especially if they manage to price it around 1,5L. Crossing my fingers, sitting down and waiting to see what they bring us.

Beyond me that why most guys fail to notice a hike in price of more than 1L or just double the price at many places.Ok wait let me see here

You get what you pay for.
Joel's R15(on track) laps at 1:58. (pick ACI's September issue and check out Lambo/BMW/1000RR/GSX-R timings)Well said. I will sweat till death does me apart from the 600RR. And will die a satisfied man.
Honda has seen what HH has done and wants a share of this in India.

At long last, something really desirable and affordable...
I sold my practically new (4,500 klicks on the odo) Lb 500 this month coz I was not happy with the refinement and smoothness of the Bullet. Was contemplating between the Classic 500 and the ZMR and wasn't too bowled over by both of them.
Almost half-heartedly, I booked the ZMR in White. Now I'm pretty sure I'll take the booking amount back and go for the CBR. The power, the fit & finish, the "completeness" of the package at this price is really a no-brainer. Doesn't hurt that it looks yummy..
My only concern is that, from some angles, it looks pretty small. Dimension wise it's a little smaller than the ZMR. (2035/720/1125 for the CBR vs 2110/805/1175 for the ZMR) I highlight this coz for some of us, a bike needs to be a little bigger for us not to look like a gorilla in a circus cycle.
Of course, the CBR is much more proportionate than the ZMR and it has better tyres too. Just haven't made up my mind about the front fairing jutting out when looked at head-on.
But the over-all package of the CBR wins it for me.
Just in- First Look by Cycle World. And Yes, it's a DOHC.

Hmmm...Black one looks delicious with white alloys!
I believe you won't look like a gorilla even if you are of same dimension..Because the fairing is big and the overall sense is like a matured bike..There's not a single angle from where it looks ugly (okay the rear is a bit awkward) but still it looks a proper Honda..No compromise on looks..One can easily misjudge for a bigger cee-cee bike..Thanks to wider rubber and VFR-ish fairing..
Also,it would be a good deal for posers as I've seen many of them do not like the R15's 100-spec..They want big and fat tires..
Now ours and their only concern is price!..
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!
