A colleague of mine has inquired about the CBR250R at a Honda dealership in Chennai & they seem to have told that the bike will be available for delivery from Jan 2011 itself! When he asked if they referred to the booking, they seem to have clarified that the bike will be launched & deliveries will commence from Jan!

Hope that this is true, as other sources point to April!

when i enquired about the cbr 250 in the east auto expo they said "bookings will start from january 1st. Price ex showrom will be less than 1.5 lacs. wen i asked for the abs or non abs they said its still not confirmed "

we can perhaps assume that the non abs will be 1.5 ex showroom

geez...i've put up the link in this very thread 2 or 3 times about the bookings getting opened from Jan 1 2011 onwards. (& the enquiry registration for that also)..

But i guess people are more interested in comparing its alloys & stickers with other bikes...

                        • @pjamessmith & coffin-on-wheels - Thanks for your efforts and pictures.

@Mach50 - First of all, how is your Foxbat doing? Secondly, I was totally illiterate about the easy possibility of converting an aircooled engine into a water cooled engine. Otherwise, I completely agree with you. I would also like to see a 300 cc tripple or a 400 cc I4 with crossplane crankshaft both equipped with non-hydraulic 5 valves and with at least 55 mm piston with 11.5:1 compression and intake closing time in excess of 65 degree ABDC (which would be more than both R-15 and Ninja 250) so that the bike wakes up only after 10k rpm, 8 gears, dual clutch, USDs, double disck upfront, single seat, weight of around 150 kgs; and I have still not mentioned the exotic materials and superlight chasis to keep the costs down. These can be made by simple trusty good old engineering. And if totally made in India, both can be parked in your garage at 2 and 3 lakh respectively (OTR, mind you) . But you know these Honda people are greedy, mean, cunning and clever, to say the least. That is why they are selling five bikes with the same engine in India and have entrusted the performance arena of 1 billion + population to that old rusty ultra long-stroke CRF 230 engine whose only trump card is torque at low and mid ranges, but who is so endemic to go beyond 8k rpm in top gear yet somehow manages a decent speed with that healthy torque only. You can't expect more from these people. Your and mine wishes will remain unfulfilled wishes for a long time. We can only curse, abuse and not buy their products in retaliation. Please arrive at your decision accordingly.

For the time being, at least, the lesser souls (the lesser bad characters ) can be satisfied with CBR 250R at a reasonable price.

Also, it is not me who is pitting CBR 250R against R-15 and Ninja. They are the market dynamics by virtue of pricing, Honda people themselves, You, the Bikers, who are doing so. And comparisons have already started. Honda seems to be going to kill many birds with one bike, as you will yourself see happening in the next few months.

Ahh,I totally love that MiG25 with SR71 ass-kicking twin Tumansky R15B engines.India's Tri-sonic squadron often made fools of our neighbours hitting the redline on that thing in their skies .................too bad, just like its arch-rival it is also going to be absolute museum pieces.
What people don't realise is technological marvel.......

Sorry for going OT that long.

And Congrats !!!! what a wonderful concept you came up.........I hope the next time you would bring how to fit a small Pratt and Whitney in your Favorite Honda, but yes,I doubt how many endemic people would go for a 250 these days.Comets were bought for performance and Ninja is a big hit for being a fast 250cc.....................somehow the Bullet 500 classic remains the first manly choice for truckloads of Torque among Indians and it is available at a lower price.

I only feel bad about the CBR tag, which would see performance rivalries by the Mojo and not by the Ninja.

Hence I feel I have lamented enough and hence prefer keeping quiet and let the product be,unless some good buddy digs me up for opinions.

Arey, I am talking about your Foxbat with two wheels and which remain on ground allmost all the time.

I hope the next time you would bring how to fit a small Pratt and Whitney in your Favorite Honda,
Why open your mouth when you don't have the exact facts that Hondajet have their own jet engines in collaboration with GE. Why would they source a P&W through me.

I doubt how many endemic people would go for a 250 these days.Comets were bought for performance and Ninja is a big hit for being a fast 250cc.....................somehow the Bullet 500 classic remains the first manly choice for truckloads of Torque among Indians and it is available at a lower price. I couldn't make much about the rest. What I am able to figure out is that: (i) All people who would buy CBR 250 are endemic. (ii) Comets were performance machine followed by Ninja. (iii) Ninja is a big hit selling quite well in its launch year. (iv) Buy Bullet 500 if torque is your requirement, not high rpms. (v) It is available at a lower price (In comparison of what?). (vi) The HOnda bike has been given CBR tag wrongly. (vi) The Honda bike's performance would be comparable to Mojo and not Ninja.

These are all different statements. Still I am not able to have a sequence or any link between the above facts. I am also not able to pin point any Member's comments in whose reply the above statement's have been put up by you because I never said that (i) only real macho man would buy CBR 250, (ii) Only CBR 250 would be a real performance machine (and not Comets or Ninja), (iii) Ninja is a bad seller (at least on this thread), (iv) ZMA's torque number is the highest, (v) and ZMA is expensive than Bullet 500, (vi) CBR tag is the most apt tag for Honda Bike making it more potent than even R1 or Ninja 1000, (vii) CBR would kill Ninja while Ninja concentrating on peeing.

Please help and please don't suggest that my post seems suspiciously to be a case of poor ranting and nothing more. A person who cannot argue sanely based on logic will never be a man enough to do anything in life.

Great catch mate! Looks meaty for a single cylinder bike. How fast is the bike?? Please share some details..
