Additionally, some people are wondering why they would have gone through the trouble of developing a new 250cc single instead of launching an existing bike. It's because we're not the only market they are targeting. The CBR250R is supposed to be a global launch. Here it's positioned as a sports tourer, in Europe and other countries it will be positioned as a fun learners bike. (Most European countries have regulations that limit displacement and horsepower for the first years after getting a motorcycle license.) Thus it makes perfect sense for Honda to develop a new "cheap" platform.

I don't think the VTR250 will launch in the foreseeable future. It just wouldn't make sense, since Honda is just starting to explode the 250cc market.

absolutely.Originally posted by MACH50 View PostIf I ever buy a 250cc Honda,I would go for the VTR over the CBR250R anyday.
and a loaf of Wibs sliced bread costed 6 rupees 50 paise back then too.Originally posted by MACH50 View PostAccording to my assessment a VTR wont cost more than 1.80 ex-showroom,to round it up at 2lacs(few years back a twin like Comet 250 was only 1.3lacs).Then why not it ???
that's the only Honda 250 i'd buy. hope it does make it here.Originally posted by Andante View PostI don't think the VTR250 will launch in the foreseeable future..

The safe playing of Honda continues..............Ninja lovers have another reason to grin in their helmets. The performance bar for the 250cc was up when the Ninja came in,even with its exorbitant price there are 6 Ninja 250s in my neighbourhood. It seems to be everyone's Superbike.Originally posted by REAPER View PostThe real thrill, is to see what our local players are going to bring in . ^^^ yes there is ninja and comet but, still they are imports with not so affordable price tags. For common man its honda that raised the peformance bar. Honda played safe but priced right.everybody dies, but not everyone LIVES...

Me too.. I am ready to pay 1.5 Lacs (+/- 5k) for the C-ABS version.. But if its 1.8, then I will instead go for the Small R1 (Yellow R15) and save some more money for the GREEN beauty from Kawasaki-Bajaj..Originally posted by xxbomb View PostAfter lot of thinking, i've decided to drop the plan to getting the upcoming cbr250r if the price goes above 1.5ex showroom for the c-abs version.

Honda seems to have decided to launch a bike (in the guise of CBR 250) after ironing out the deficiencies of R-15 like (i) small puny size, (ii) absence of adequate grunt and torque at all rpms, (iii) another 10-12 kmph more top speed, (iv) more posing value than R-15, at a price Rs. 30-35K more than R-15. And I would always prefer a non-ABS one only, as both R-15 and Ninja 250 are also non-ABS versions only. CBR 250 seems to be an effort to better Yamaha bike and thus becomes successful in its effort. Surely, it would just wipe out R-15 from all over the world, if not the Vixion model as well. And that is what Honda perhaps wants to do. If Honda ever had decided to take lead over Ninja 250 model, it had technical means to do so easily even with a single cylinder configuration.

Guys its not just about beating r15 or ninja. Bike sales are taking a beating all over the world and more and more people are getting concerned about fuel economy and practicality. So a good looking 250 with adequate power and good fuel milege and loaded with necessary tech is the best way to survive for honda(or make extra bucks)
expect same type of bikes from all major manufactures soon. Hoping r1s and blades would be still there when i can afford one.Last edited by REAPER; 11-30-2010, 12:41 PM.everybody dies, but not everyone LIVES...

Though there are distinct differences, to the untrained eye or a casual look over, the two looks strikingly similar. The colour scheme helps big time in making the bikes easily distinguishable from one another. Though I prefer the 250 colour scheme.
If at all both are made available in the country. One might see a 150 repainted as a 250
