Being intended for racing, this 250 will most possibly be sharing absolutely nothing with the CBR 250.

The Honda CBR250R, while some people are somewhat disappointed in the specifications of the new Honda CBR250R, a Honda spoke person has told us that the choice for the single-cylinder for the Honda CBR250R was not only a financial decision, the specifications of the new 2011 Honda CBR250R are within the specs set out for the new Moto3 motorcycle race class which will replace the 125GP by 2012.

The CS250RE, the new Honda CBR250R engine, is a liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC single cylinder with a bore of 76mm and stroke of 55mm, 249cc engine. The maximum bore for the Moto3 race class cannot excite 81mm. The fueling for is managed by a PGM-FI (fuel-injection system), which is programmable with some tools currently already available in Thailand.

With the creation of the Honda CBR250R, Honda have the groundwork completed should they choose to go for the CBR250R as the basis for the NRS250 racebike. NRS250 stands for Next Racing Standard, and the NRS250 will be created by HRC (Honda Racing).

Regulations set for the Moto3 race class specify that each engine must last a required minimum of three races and costs of a Moto3 motorcycle should not exceed more than 12,000 Euro. It's reasonable to assume that Honda could also develop a high performance road-going version of the 250cc race bike (Honda CBR250RR), to replace the venerable CBR250 and develop racing ties with its entry-level road motorcycles.

As one of the Japan's biggest motorcycle manufacturers, Honda is keen to be a major player in all three racing categories, MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3, and will leverage its racing involvement in order to promote its road-going products.

Yup, right here in the text. "should they choose" is not equal to "the same" engine. And even if they do, the engine would be modified beyond recognition.

yup.. i agree with that.. no-one knows wether its the same engine, i accept my fault over there. but using this engine as a base for the nrs makes more sense as it gives Honda the freedom to incorporate advanced technologies from moto3 into the cbr250r. i feel its a pretty good strategy from Honda considering the fact that the cbr is launched globally. i guess in a couple of years they'll add a tag "born from moto3" with this bike as a marketing strategy.

oh and obviously they would be foolish to directly plonk this 26bhp engine into the nrs.

I was reading somewhere that they might use the CRF 250 engine..even the Honda NRS website has no details on this. We'll come to know later.

After the end of 2-stroke era no-one was ready to launch a performance bike. Then came bajaj with there Pulsar twins and slowly upgraded them. While all the bikes in market had stone age analogue consoles and bulb tail lights They were first to introduce digital consoles and led lights. they were also first to get rid of kick starter and bring a fuel-injected performance bike . Bajaj is the only manufacturer that offers Projector headlights right now.

I dont follow moto gp so dnt knw much. But i would definitely like to see Rossi on a Kwacker and current kwacker riders on the Yammie .

I am not comparing Honda and Bajaj. Just appreciating Bajaj for the reason they have always fulfiled the thirst of indian biker and has something in store for everyone. From Discover 100 to Pulsar 220 to Ninja 250.

And for comparing Honda and Bajaj in international scene... u are in India my dear, not in US here 150s are performance bikes, 250s are rocket ships and 1000cc are something from another planet that will lead u straight to death (LOL).
and anyways u comparing a more than 50yr old company with a new entrant.

Yes OT alert indeed on the 'satisfy' part. But when i said Honda's motive is to satisfy, i meant in not only in terms of power at an affordable price, atleast that's how Bajaj would look at it, but i meant reliability and all the tech that goes into making these bikes. Besides i put 'SELL' second to 'Satisfy' talking in Honda's terms, like I previously said. Bajaj doesn't really put much tech into their bikes which eases their job of keeping the price tag low, I'm not saying they suck, but the R&D is no comparison to Honda's(I'm being stupid here). But yes given the time frame since when Bajaj was established, they have doe a pretty good job. But still, it justifies the price, but in terms of tech, not satisfactory.

I mean I know with 1lit of petrol being close to Rs 63 its very very important...
But Imagine if someone wanted to Gift us a R1 or FireBlade or a Harley or Ducati.. is there anyone among us who would refuse !!!???

With my hand over my heart, yes I do care about fuel economy. Thats until someone gifts me petrol along with the "R1 or FireBlade or Ducati".
With rising fuel prices, avid biker or not, fuel economy is definitely important (but is not the deciding factor for choosing a bike).

Even if you book it, the bike will not come to you. You will have to go to it.
