Bhayya, why dont you search Wikipedia for VFR and CBR naming convention.
I have already posted a link about that.
Its not the design which makes it CBR or VFR.

VFR is for V 4 (Racing series) as this bike is a full fairing (which denotes its racing nature), with a V-4 engine.
The CBRs (City Biking-Racing series) are the high performance streetbikes from Honda. Again full fairing denotes that its of racing nature (maybe not strictly racing - but still )

@myg124 - your naming convention is more appropriate. Honda really could have called it CBFR250 (as you stated) or as the Honda convention goes for these bike, it could have been CBR250F (similar to CBR600F)

Now, we must be having a big challenge achieving that figure? Or does it come with ease

Here's an excerpt from mileage discussion on a CBR250 forum..
                Honda estimates 77MPG for CBR250 - Honda CBR250 Forum : Honda CBR 250 Forums

Further down in the same page, a user gives the following feedback...

"I'm just back from 2 days of 150kph highway cruising.

Didn't pay any attention to the fuel economy, but it sure wasn't 33kmp/l.

Usually though if pottering about without excessive speed you'll get 30-33kmp/l.

BTW, have 8500km on the CBR and it's an absolute little monster of a thing. I went for a nice 2 day ride and now, from a nice hard break in it has gone on to destroy everything on the highway, not one vehicle managed to pass it over 800km on what was pretty much empty 3 laned highway. The bike laps it up at 150kph (93mph) at 9000rpm and feels completely safe and sturdy in doing so. That's with a normal riding position and not ducking down onto the tank. The bike is still stock, but my word it's a machine and a half.

Don't know about US highways, but if the traffic is averaging 130kph (80mph) you'll be blasting past 'em, just get the engine broken in nice and hard.

Now has any of you got any idea about the lighting power of this bike? Is it good enough? I was thinking of plonking some Projector and angel eyes, but then removing the cowl would create a problem. Was searching through thai forums for light modifications. And still my search for a rear seat cover continues. Local make is the only rescue I think.
Ajay: Thanks! Well, a projector can be plonked. I recommend you dig some Thai forums. Many riders have already done it with ease. I guess some photos have been posted as well. But only issue being, they cant communicate with us because of the lack of English.

Infact it should be inverse of what you said, CBR owners will feel let down for owning a VFRish bike

Shiva: I agree. But many still havent seen the VFR here in India yet, so for those it will be the CBR, for the rest like us, as you said.

Yep, it really should have been CBR250F, rather than the single R. I guess CBR sounds more easy going than VFR! Good for us.

                      Honda estimates 77MPG for CBR250 - Honda CBR250 Forum : Honda CBR 250 Forums

"Yes - numerous reports on Thai forums claim that the CBR250R has been consistently returning fuel-economy figures of around 3.0L/100KM (which coincidentally works out to about 77 mpg U.S.) at highway speeds and higher out on the open road. Interestingly, the above figure is not far off from SportRider’s recent comparison that yielded an average fuel-economy of 70mpg for the CBR250R (and a dismal 46mpg for the Ninja 250R) after their requisite flogging. Popular Mechanics's recent comparison test returned a similar figure of 71 mpg for the CBR250R. Rider magazine also tested the CBR250R against the Ninja 250R and after a "day-long dual" that typically involves flogging the bikes, the CBR250R yielded 65mpg, while the Ninja 250R yielded......50mpg....which prompted the magazine to comment “Economy and entertainment run neck-and-neck with the CBR". The above tests certainly suggest that 77mpg (U.S.) is achievable if you are a little more gentle with your right wrist."

Thats a good one. They have a reason to be surprised and look at the world around them As it is they keep munching on liter class bikes all the while!

The mileage will be something what the Karizma returns ie 30-35, if you blast at will then around 25, but more sedate then better mileage can be achieved. I wouldnt be surprised if users say they are getting around 40ish or so. And really great to see that riders comments too. Being rock solid at high speeds is whats required out of a machine, especially here considering bad roads. Really sweet to hear that

I see more saddle sores coming up And with regards to the CBR sales, I guess India should top sales globally for the no of bikes sold within India itself.

I think it'll be tough to confuse between the two because VFR will be HUGE! CBR will look a tad bit tiny to confuse it for the former, IMHO.

                            I beg to differ mate..
Honda has positioned these bikes very differently.. Honda calls the 250R an entry-level sports bike (well they call it a 'super sport bike')... Whereas the VFR is strictly marketed as a tourer.
IMO, in no aspect is the bike disappointing. If calling it a baby VFR works for you, nothing like it.. Whatever floats your boat.. No offense intended!
To sum it all, for me, the CBR looks stunning!
The VFR looks bulky (not a bad thing, but a major difference if u compare the two). The CBR250R looks sporty.. Just can't wait to see it, nay, her in flesh..

To sum it all, for me, the CBR looks stunning!
The VFR looks bulky (not a bad thing, but a major difference if u compare the two). The CBR250R looks sporty.. Just can't wait to see it, nay, her in flesh..
Im my mind, a CBR appears a real good sports bike like the CBR600RR and CBR100RR with twin headlights, broad front that gives sports bike proportions to the bike, beam type twin spar frame etc. Where as the 250R, with VFR looks on the outside, and with its slim body with single headlamp and everything else under the skin not matching the CBR features I just listed, it plain seems a Karizma. Over this all, the label CBR, is really clashing with my imagination of the "CBR". Hence disappointing.
