That bike was pretty dead. This got me thinking, just how badly or hard can people ride a test-ride bike?

I took a brand new Karizma out of the showroom and 3 days later rode it at 120Kmh non-stop from Mumbai - Chennai. I abused it at the track and did at least 100 laps of the MMSC circuit, crashed it there once, rode it back to Mumbai and it just kept begging for more. Till date the clutch plates are the original ones that came with the bike and they withstood all that torture and it feels like they'll last for another 10K Km with ease.

The CBR250R that I rode had just 303 Km on it when I got to test it...

I think the first priority modification would most likely be stronger clutch springs and perhaps aftermarket clutch plates to go in once the OE clutch gives up.

Either the above is necessary...or the bike I tested was a lemon. In any case a clutch upgrade is one of the best things to do on a bike like this regardless of your application towards touring, racing or stunting etc.

Lolz..sounds innovative... but my range don't allow me to do so BIG changes. Although i will definitely go for a better exhaust..with loud sound...n better looks.

well... Joel has already "promised" a few performance upgrades for the CBR.

will prolly take a while.. so keep an eye out for his stuff.

I have also done some research and found some videos of CBR 250r with different kind of exhausts and sounds. Will post them soon on forum. I just want get that exhaust changed as soon as i get the bike... no tolerance

well i have a questions for all those who have seen or test rode the bike.

• what tires (or is it tyres) is the bike provided with. how was its performance.
• How was the suspension? Is the rear mono shock adjustable? does the front end dive aggressively under hard braking?
• Are there any chances of vibrations creeping in due to loose panels and stuff? How good it the windshield.
• hows the pillion seat compared to the likes of r15 and kwaker 250r.
• Can the c-ABS be switched off. Can we just have the ABS and switch of the combine braking system?
• Finally is it a worthy upgrade from a r15. Answer expected from a city commuter, highway commuter, fun to ride camparo .

If ive asked questions that have already been answered im sorry. Man this thread has literally turned into a war zone.

I seem to have arrived late on the scene. Went and booked a CBR for myself yesterday, Silver STD at Saphire Honda, JP Nagar, Bangalore. Since they claim I'm 81st in the list () i will only be getting the delivery by 10th Aug. By which time i'm probably going to lose interest in the motorcycle.

I've been assured i'll get back my entire booking amount if i choose to cancel my booking, so i saw no harm in paying up and queuing up for the test rides, which should be beginning this week.

Won't comment on the looks, thats entirely subjective and i'm not really a fan of brickbats. Until the test ride, no comments on anything else as well. No point in talking about how a shoe might fit before actually trying them on.

Just as well.

And the wait begins ...

1. Continental tyres ( Both rear & front). Grip & performance is supposed to be good.
2. Suspension good for city rides/ touring. Not stiff like few bikes.
3. Too early to conclude abt this. We'll have to wait & see. I feel we wont have such probs...but alas...future cant be foretold.
4. Din really get you on this. It's pretty similar, it wouldnt be problem for young folks.
5. U can't siwtch off c-abs.. , its always on

what kind of break-in u going for? motoman or traditional one!
i prefer to keep it below 6000 rpm for my bike before doing around 1000 kms! so buddy dont be in a hurry! let the CBR take its own time! see that u clock atleast 1k rpm for ur bike to break-in!

To answer some of your questions:

Performance is acceptable for street use. Long-term wear rate and performance is hard to predict at this time.

- Comfortable and yet firm. It is on the softer side and therefore more touring friendly. Front does dive but quite similar to Karizma...doesn't bother me that much. Adjustable? Not sure...

3. Are there any chances of vibrations creeping in due to loose panels and stuff? How good it the windshield.

- I would imagine so...the bike vibrates pretty strongly at higher RPMs but again nothing that is uncomfortable. Windshield useless if you are taller than 6 feet..maybe even shorter.

- Finally is it a worthy upgrade from a r15. Answer expected from a city commuter, highway commuter, fun to ride camparo .

For street use? Absolutely. But you must have very specific needs to make that call. I still believe the R15 is better built and handles better. It is more sporty in it's ergonomics and ride quality. I think the R15 looks better proportioned than the CBR and is almost single-minded in it's purpose.

Is the upgrade worth it?

IMO - Probably not given the price premium. You don't get much more bike for the money...plenty of feature parity. You can buy two R15s for the price of one ABS equipped CBR250R.

If you have an R15, I would spec it up with the help of the tuners in India and have as much fun with it as possible. Top speeds of 140 have been demonstrated...some have gone faster.

So going by all your ride reports sir , is it safe to conclude the following ?

1) more powerful than the 220 but more linear in power and torque delivery
2) not as sporty and sharp as the r15

Hence, has honda actually bridged the differences between the 220 and the r15 ?

not without some shortcomings obviously , but more or less best of both worlds at a much higher price ?

and about deepeak sharma - I guess he had it coming
