    The name, CBR.

It is what it is actually albeit bearing the name CBR. Honda's aim behind the project was clear but it was the naming and the styling that has raised questions, it is not just me, it is many around the world.

One can safely expect because it is a CBR.

    Agree.

Agree. But I expect that from the tag CBR again.

Agree. I am misled by the name CBR.

The name and purpose of R15 match eachother. No scope for expecting city friendliness and touring qualities. Its an unfair expectation.

premium quality : Really? What with those quality nags which have been rampantly reported on all display bikes all over the country?
Lets hope the delivery bikes have that premium quality.

    You are very right

      First the meaning of CBR.
CBR evolved from the CB line-up. CB means City Bike. so the CBR means City Bike Race(r) or City Biking & Racing

And we all know that the 600rr and the 1000rr are based on the RC211V, so with that in mind, RR really does mean Race Replica

      The VF & VFR
The VF and VFR series (VF meaning Vee-Four, and VFR meaning Vee-Four Racing) was a motorcycle made by Honda and had a V4 engine. The bike was also the first to utilize a Sprag (one-way) clutch.

Yes man, Honda has messed up in the naming. Its time for Honda to get back to roots :P
Oops! Sorry to disturb your exam preparations with these fussings. Good luck for your exams

          LOL...
You got me there. I should've mentioned clearly V = V4. Anyways, others have done that.

At the time we heard about the Honda's CBR250 me also thought it to a sibling of the the BIG RR's(read like the R15)... But now i think Honda has also accepted the fact that it should have been named VFR not CBR. I think that was @sivaprasad was trying to tell.
@sivaprasad, come to reality man, we have got a descent piece of machine to rejoice. Forget about the naming, now its clear na

after my test ride, i am quiet sure you will forget the fuss..

One more thing i would share is.. I basically have riden pulsars and yamahas.. Which are known for giving the adrenaline feeling.. And yes they were fast.. But they also felt fast.. Then, one day i happened to ride a unicorn.. And my first impression was very negative.. I dint feel the bike.. It felt almost silent and thus the ride wasnt fun.. As i was used to.. But when i rode it the 2nd time.. Then the third time.. I just started loving it.. I could feel it being fast just by judging the other bikes on road.. At 90kmph.. The unicorn is much more silent than my p180.. Mean to say is, yes, it lacked the fast feeling.. But still was fast..(not a actual camparo of specs) And ultra smooth compared to pulsars.. And typically, all hondas are so.. the reason i mentioned it here is.. I have seen lot of people feeling the same when they switch to a unicorn from pulsar or so.. And that may be a reason some found the "Feel" lacking in CBR..

All again IMO.. I am no expert.. just a "biker next door"..
You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

                    VFR = V4 Racing (4 Cylinder)
+1.. in fact VFR would have been a misnomer considering that this is a single cylinder.

I dont think it will make any difference.. If that was the case, 90% of the indian cars would be parked during rains. None of them have any kind of protection or covering under the bonnet from where muck and dirt are splashed on to the engine as well as other parts.

                    • Just called up the Honda Regional Manager, South India, Bangalore. Gave him a piece of my mind. The bikes are there in most of the showrooms. My showroom people are saying that it is delayed because there is some official launch yet to happen all over Bangalore. I was pissed off, for some marketing gimmick, they are delaying the delivery of bikes that are already there in the warehouse.
Called up Honda centre at Bangalore, asked for the manager. He left it seems, so I called up the regional manager. The reason?
                      1. They got the RTO Approval only yesterday.
                      2. Now they have given for registration.
                      3. Launch is scheduled for this weekend.
                      4. Deliveries will start only by next week.

I was furious and started bashing him, talking about interest that Honda has accumulated over the deposit amount. Also said when delivery would commence, and to stop the crap about launch to me, for me what matters is my bike.
Guy started apologising. I just don't understand. What was the Honda South India doing when they knew such delays were evident, RTO thing is nothing new for them. How come they were not prepared for this? I would never ever suggest any person to buy Honda products, unless if its a CBR. Quality is important, but not over making a customer a complete fool.

Good.. give us the numbers too. At least a few other people can call him and let him know that Honda is testing our patience. Even if they want people to wait for 5 months.. let them give a clear date atleast. This is like shooting in the dark where we get a new date every week only to get another new date next week.

I am thinking about the after sales.. if this is how we are treated before delivery of the bike.. i dont know how honda will treat us once the bike is delivered and the payment is made.

Probably that's the reason, CBR 250R was designed that way and has a VFR resemblance. I don't know how far that news is true, but if its true, we might see many more Honda bikes with the same look. We might even see the future "CBR Superbikes" with the same styling.
And we all know that CBR 250R is not VFR 250 because of the "V" thing which is not in the bike.

What made you think it’s a pure sports bike??? Neither Honda wanted it to be, nor do any of the reviews say so, even none of the message in last 500 odd pages tells so...

It’s a Sports Commuter or to some extent a Sports Tourer. Hence no point in expecting mean looks or rev happy engine etc. It has what its meant to be, good looks, good torque in low and mid range etc...

You are expecting something from CBR what it is not and then you are blaming it for not being what it is not meant to be. The bike is right,
it’s your expectations which are in wrong direction..

It’s like blaming R15 for not being a good touring bike or lack of low end torque...

It's not "A stupid jack of all" bike it’s a versatile bike and has got what is needed from it: good looks and premium quality for daily commute and occasional tours...

Lets discuss the good or bad about the bike and not what it is not supposed to be...

P.S. I myself ride a R15 and like it for what it is. And booked a CBR for what CBR isJ.
Thats a very fine post and especially required in this thread. Some people never get it.
