If you give me that CBR was designed by Japanese engineers in Honda Japan.. even the Mahindra Mojo is 'Designed in Italy' .

Pulsar 220 was no longer the 'Fastest Indian' when the first baby CBR made it out of the showroom and onto the street. But the fact that it stayed that way for almost 2 years is a commendable fact.
HMSI isnt a indian company its wholly owned subsidiary of honda motors, japan. Pulsar is still the fastest "indian" bike. but never was the fastest bike on indian roads that would go to any of the 15lac or whatever rupees bike. the CBR probably holds the title for fastest indian manufactured bike. and the ninja the fastest indian assembled bike but then CBR still uses alot of imported parts.. so.. okay this is getting complicated !

Anyway they have changed their advert tactics to a direct attack on japanese motorcycle manufactures by saying they sell 5times more than any japanese sports bike.
      Regardless, Life shall go on.

        • I had made two bookings for the CBR on the 1st week of Jan. One was for me and the other was for my nephew. After test riding the bike twice, i was slightly underwhelmed.

          My main concerns were-

          - The Riding posture. Am used to the laid back- high handle posture of the Bullets. In fact, i owned a KarizmaR for about a year in 2007-8 and I found the posture perfect. Here, there was too much pressure on the wrists. Am not comfortable with the forward lean position. Also the handlebars are a bit too small for my liking. The ZMR clip-ons would be perfect for me, I guess.

          - The "small look" from the front and side. Am 5.11" and pretty broad and heavy at 105kgs. The CBR looks fantastic from the back aided by the Fat rear tyres and high tank. However the front fairing is too small and from the side too, it looks pretty small. Am concerned it's a bit small for me..

          - The flimsy plastics and below par finish of the clip-ons and weld joints.... THis was pretty surprising from Honda.

Apart from these, The Bike felt good. Adequate power and smooth gearbox. Nothing mind-blowing, but good enough..

If i do go for it, Can I put in the ZMR's Clip-ons without much hassle? Will the cables be too short? Can i do something about fitting a larger windscreen?

My booking arrived yesterday but i gave it to my nephew and decided to wait the 20-odd days untill his bike arrived coz i wasn't 100% convinced. Maybe the remapped ECU in the Classic500 Version-II can change my mind...

And why did you leave Yamaha out of this???

Pulsar220Fs biggest target is the R15.

Its true, that Japanese bikes do not sell as much, because they are more costly and Bajaj has gained trust of Indian people more by being there when no one was around.
            Lol my bad :P
            I forgot Yamaha :P

Well CBR is the fastest bike made in India as of now
HMSI may be a fully owned subsidiary of Honda Japan but its an INDIAN company dude!
Bajaj has opened a direct war on the Japs
So what if P220 sells 5x more than any Jap SBK?
Its the feeling what matters when you drive
The techspecs are pure BS if you dont like the vehicle you drive, am I wrong ???

I am sure P250 will beat CBR in road presence only if its cheaper than CBR but then it wont kill the CBR sales because CBR didnt kill Ninja's sales so P250 cant kill CBR's sales

Correct me if I am wrong :P
I feel like Peter Parker when I drive my Hunk in the city but I become Spiderman when I am on my CBR swinging from one lane to the other on expressways.

It is a Pulsar we are talking about,...........I do not think many have the idea of just how much people are waiting for the Pulsar 250 - the Pulsar220 advertorial has been changed because the crown of the fastest Indian would be taken by the Pulsar 250 soon.Bajaj has been known to kill the Pulsar 200 for the Pulsar 220S.If a company can kill a product for sake of a better one, it does not make a difference if they keep their tag for another radical bike.

The most shocking thing by Bajaj would be this Diwali, KTM Duke 200 and Pulsar 250 both in the tow.

The CBR250R cannot be considered apt for Fastest Indian tag.It maybe assembled in India with few non-critical locally manufactured parts. But its design, blue print and critical components are outsourced. The testing and optimisation of the CBR250R was not even done in India. It was available in international countries before it was made available in India.Heck, the Yzf R15 seems to be having more Indian genes than the CBR itself, the Yamaha being solely developed, tested and launched in India first despite the whole world-wide Yamaha market.

In that case Ninja 250R was already here and Yamaha RD350 was also there and not to forget the Comet GT250.

Talking of CBUs,there are way faster bikes on Indian roads from every Japanese company.
But,the Fastest Indian bike title can only be claimed by the likes of Bajaj, TVS, Hero Motors and Mahindra. The products of these four companies are always designed, tested and launched in India, first and foremost before anywhere else.

Even I ride a Japanese brand motorcycle, but what is fact,is fact........loyalty lies elsewhere.

Mahindra's take on impressing customers cannot be the fact which would determine the origin of the bike.

Mahindra hired Italian designers from their own Italian engineering concern to design the M300.Details of the testing of the bike and the origin of the engine used however remains sketchy.

In that case Bajaj also hired Glynn Kerr of Tokyo R&D for designing their initial Pulsars. The design trend still continues with few nips and ticks here and there and is carried forward even in the Fastest Indian Pulsar 220F.

So, if Mahindra's 'Designed in Italy' tag becomes the determinant then Pulsar 220 would not have been called the Fastest Indian.

Point there mate. The CBR has taken off really well and the P250 whenever it comes, will be surely 50k less and have more features on offer. Same for the KTM.

But, Honda will take the cake and the cherry in the end

                        +1 to that.

However, CBR 250 is also priced just right. For 1.5Lacs for non-ABS model it is a very good purchase. Its got everything one would ask for a 1.5Lac rupee bike.
ABS is something i wont comment on as i dnt like cars and bikes with ABS and Traction control stuff. They are safer but i feel they take away the true driving spirit and feel of controlling ur machine .

Mercedes vs SX4? Have u really been in any of them? Ur really comparing a cheap C segment sedan with German Car that costs nearly double the price?

I live in Panchkula (Satellite town of Chandigarh) and a huge Ninja Hoarding has come up recently on a major roundabout with the punchline "Power of 2 cylinders". Shall we call this the CBR effect?

                            • I had a test ride of the CBR and guess what, it went dry midway but to mine and sales person's luck the pump was almost a kilometer away and while i was driving fast i managed to let it reach the pump without having to push the bike.
