This is d same R15 engine ( re tuned ) for better torque the chasis has been redesigned to fit a broader tyre & a new swing arm though the changes r cosmetic .... this is an adaption of the older bike ... as per inputs form indian consumers yammie has incorporated these changes... the r6 lookin R15

for the launch date its my guess it should be on 14th June 2011 as ..back in 2008 it was d same date wen Yamaha formally launched the R15

thnx ...sorry to disappoint many ppl who thought its a 250.
if we were to believe you then, doesn't the new bike gonna under perform than the current R15 with such changes and no engine power upgrade? I believe the new R15 will be a bit heavier too.

Also, can you please go back to your reliable source and ask the approx pricing as well.

        • OK. i'll add my fuel to the fire...

this could very well be a reverse engineered Joel'ed R15.

          • I hope they don't compromise on power and give it slight tweak taking into consideration the bigger tyres and swingarm. Could someone atleast give an idea of the pricing and the power. 22 seems too much for a 150. I would expect it around 18-19.

I think he meant that Yamaha has taken a Joeled R15 (R165) and have designed the new R15 around that.

By the way Joeled R15 is far better in performance than the stock one

                • I think some of us know that when the current R15 was launched there were two more bikes tested which were same 150cc but the other two were of 19 and 21 bhp.

I think this is the one with 21 bhp which they had tested in 2008 on pune roads.

                  • If this 'New' R15 has a phat tyre and increased wheelbase and updated looks but the same 17Ps engine.. Congratulations to everyone who owns the current R15. Your bike is on it way to becoming a classic bike!! You can enjoy inflated resale for the rest of its usable life.. because for the first time in performance motorcycling history, the updated motorcycle will in fact be slower than the outgoing one.

So a power increase is very much on the cards. And if there is none.. Baby CBR (and its 'current' and 'would be' owners) can breathe easy now.

Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

And that's what yamaha would not let it happen.

Highly improbable. Afterall, Its Yamaha. I mean, they know the game dude.. No way this thing is gonna under-perform. If the chassis and tyres have been redesigned, be sure about the engine part too. Minor tweaks here and there, to keep it going as strong as it used to be.

So this is a much better looking R15, which performs on par or better than the 'OR 15'..

                          eh? no.

how would it be a downgrade?

                          exactly!

which is what Yamaha prolly figured out and went to town on a "revised" design.

+1...I still believe that this new bike will be of 170-200cc engine with an increased horse power.Bring it on YAMAHA.

                              • i somehow feel tat d pricing would be somewhere around 1.3 - 1.4. if its more than 1.4, ppl might consider paying 20k more for d ceeber...
A crash on d road may kill d biker n d bike, but d relationship btwn d bike n d biker never dies.

Its only next to d relationship btwn d mother n her baby.
