    Okay,right.

And who'd buy the current R15 over the R6-styled R125?
    Any ideas? From other forums?

Then who will buy the SZx?
The news from a very reliable source was mentioned a few posts back. THE R125 is NOT coming! It is NOT a sensible product for India, atleast not in its european avatar, OR in this Avatar displayed here! Who the hell would buy the existing plain jane R15 then!

      • How can we compare yamaha SZX to r125(if its coming) in terms of price.. Yamaha szx is 52K, whereas 125 if launched would be say 85K, then how can people get confused between buying yamaha szx and r125...

If R15 stays the same, then also it would have market..Those who want "150" sports would go for existing R15 and if R125 comes most people who will love to have a superbike like bike will be more than happy rather than the top speed or riding quality..

Ya may the reliable source who said earlier is extremely spot on that the image displayed was really the new R15..

I know that you know ! Its for the other people... I remember that there was a lot of speculation before SZx launched (announced, whatever) , that the new 125 cc bike would be the R125... it didn't make sense then and it certainly does not make any sense now...

@chiragsthakur: Let me clear your doubts about why this cannot be the R125 (if the bike in the spy photos is the one to be launched)... it is clear for the spy photos that the chassis is the same as this generation R15, also the wheel base is the same as this generation bike and the foot pegs are also in the same place as this generation's bike... so, the R125's wheel base is longer at 1355 mm (vis a vis the R15 wheel base of 1290 mm), also the foot pegs are further back and higher up for a more radical rear set arrangement... therefore, this bike does not have the same chassis as the R125... now why will I just shrink the bore of the bike to make it into a 125cc when the product that I have is already a 150 cc and it sells well?... makes no sense...

Thank you bro.. Clear enough.. But if its R15 and the rear portion is changed including broader tyre, then do you think the price would go up over the current R15??

                Heavy words!

First off,it's not going to be the R125..And if in case this happens(highly unlikely!) then no one would buy the current R15..Those who will, might not like the grin on R125 owners' face coming out of the same showroom. And that means, fight all over the Yamaha showrooms across the country.Yamaha won't like that!

Jokes apart, but without updating the current R15 and launching a more attractive R125 along the R15 sounds to be a recipe of epic fail!

Ya got your point, highly unlikely that it will be R125...

We can expect a modest increase in prices... remember, there is larger rear tyre, revised swing arm, revised tail section, new LED tail lights, new side fairings, new rims, new head lights... all of this means new tooling and increase in material inputs (specially for rims and larger tyre)... so, yes a price rise is likely...

Ya, even I also expect a modest increase in price of this upgraded R15. But according to 'autocar india' this 2011 r15 might cost 10k less than the current model, due to high localization of parts.

                      • The R125 for India Speculation still rages on, God I am sick and tired of it.

Here is a visual comparison of the desi R15 and the videshi R125 just to show why it will never come to India

Nice comparison.Did'nt knew R125 is that bigger than R15.

yes. but that's an investment Yamaha HAVE to make.

i won't talk about CCs here.
but... the "faired" bike scene in india is growing.

Yamaha can't afford to increase the price of the R15.
that would take the price way to close to another bigger fully faired bike.

and then that would start the "if i pay a lil extra i'll get 100cc more" argument.

Sure it 'll . . It s not a 2-stroke bike like its competitioner Aprilia rs125 . . Even the max power is also less when compared to r15 . .

Yeah comparing them is like comparing r15 with discover 150 both r15 and r125 r having same 6 speed gearbox which s expensive and liquid cooled engine . . I think these are the reasons to be priced around 1 lac
