All we wanted, is a bike designed proportionally well on both ends.. Moreover the power output remains the same (+ or - 0.5 BHP) and this is just a cosmetic upgrade.

Soon there would comments like, "the old R15's fairing used to be better" coz, the air vents are quite exposed and looks absurd.
    NO no no no!
    Don't break my heart.
All we have to do is wait for 2 more days.
    We'll do that before criticizing.
And where did you get a glimpse by the way?
Jimmy smokes crack and I do not care!

First expect lots of comments/questions on your post bro..

PS: just 1 question from my end, how did you get to know the increase/decrease in BHP ? Obviously you didn't get a test ride i suppose. Nevertheless, i kinda believe you, courtesy the Official Yamaha Ad itself which doesn't talk about performance increase & IMO if there was further increase of bhp to 19 from same motor, yamaha would surely have earned the right to call it a performance upgrade howsoever small.. Anyways if thats info comes true, a lot of us are surely gonna be darn disappointed..

PS 2: I realy hope the visual appeal on new R15 was not good enough just for your taste, but if that opinion on puny rear section & fairings gonna turns out to be a mass opinion after the launch, even Posers would stay away from the version 2.0

Too much to speculate in these last 2 remaining days.. Though I have a gut feeling, Yamaha wont disappoint us & make that almost a year long wait worth enough..

      • Yesterday ,at MMRT I had a conversation with Yamaha Racing team...While they did not reveal any specs ,they assured me that the new version will be more agile, advanced and faster then the current version...

Furthermore they says that Yamaha R15 falls under the world famous R series bike. The engineers who have designed the next versions are very experienced engineers.

So guys only two more days to go...wake up early morning...take a bath...go to temple...pray to god...obey your parents...And I believe you all(including me) will not be disappointed:-):-)

I got to see the V2.0, 2 weeks back at a Service center in Chennai. (Sorry for not mentioning the name)

It was a blue one camouflaged with Black matte stickers all over. It was out there for training and the Svc guy whom I know, told me its more or less the same engine box.

No power figures yet from Yamaha directly, during their test run they predict the bike could have a 0.5 BHP increase. Most of the internals share the same part number as the current R15.

What I feel is, (Purely my thoughts)

The bike may be tuned with a better intake/Ex system and peak-out the 17+bhp over 10,500RPm similar to the CBR150R, but not sure. So that way there wouldn't be much torque with a Pillion.

Noticed the pillion seat being too high, may be Yamaha likes the new R15 ridden single.

Regarding the Air vents, I am 5.11 Feet tall and watching the bike sideways, right at my Eye level the vents are visible, which is a bit absurd to me, while the Old R15 Air vents are hidden and aesthetically pleasing. (May be its for better cooling, as you said looks are subjective and it is my personal opinion.)

          • However, going by the way Yamaha is projecting R15 v2.0, it looks like a cosmetic upgrade with may be minor or no tweaks to the engine.

Cause, all Yamaha is projecting is Leaner and Meaner and also design, instead of performance.

It would obviously do no harm if they also included improved Performance (if there were any) in their teaser along with emphasis on looks.

Just asking because i don't know, R15 classic didn't fall in famous R series ?? It was the best 150 They had atleast here in asian subcontinent.

              lol..last para is hilarious..

Most of the parts being same as current R15 explains the cost minimization in R&D so no surprises there. Still if the list of non-cosmetic changes (as posted by some member a few pages ago) is to be believed, V2 has quite a lot of non-cosmetic upgrades.

Forget about peak power from 17 to 18/19 bhp or whatsoever, if the torque figures at lower gears do not increase especially with a pillion as you say, V2 wouldn't excite many of the Non tourer/city rider breed..

The rear seat does look absurdly high for indian standards.. Anyways, it adds to the looks of bike plus not a lot of us love to ride around with Pillions anyways so that shouldn't be a big deal.

I'm 5.11 too.. Nevertheless, the air vents in pics looked appealing to me. Waiting to see it in flesh though.

Exactly my point bro.. However, Its Yamaha, not HH or any other manufacturer who would call a slight increase in performance as performance upgrade. So lets not opt out the possibility of atleast slight performance upgrade even though YMI doesn't say so in its Ad.

              • I'm intruding in on this forum quite late, but I have some ''rather curious'' news. I spoke with the chief mechanic at my city's Yamaha SVC. He was missing for the past month as he was undergoing training on a new bike in bangalore. He returned yesterday and when I inquired, he claimed that the new engine was indeed a 150cc, but it would be able to diss out a maximum of 20-22 bhp, apparently.

I'll leave you guys to argue about the validity of this fact.
                D'oh!

Same here bro...BTW did you see how they replies when you ask anything about the version 2?
As if they went to Russia for some highly secret project and if the specs are revealed even before an hour of its launch, will put the nation in a grave danger...

Same here, hoping I'm practical. though I'll pray that Yamaha are not practical and logical enough in a pleasant way. anyways I won't be buying it.

There is enough BS on this thread. Why encourage mindless speculation 2 days before launch.

@Mods: Maybe you want to lock this thread until the launch on 06-Sept.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
