^^^ Nope... nothing here to entice me to sell my current R15... it will take a lot more than this... much more....

+ 1 bro.. Although yamaha has done a tremendous job by not goin HH way of upgrading the new R15 bt IMHO the new R15 wouldn't be as much of an 'OUT OF WORLD' upgrade to the current R15 owners..
PS: Its a different story altogether for other bike owners like me
I loved R15 classic to the core & was considering upgrading to a used R15 rather than getting my FZ joele'd.. But now all options open with new R15 in market & hopefully further an expected fall in R15 classic's resale price..
Anyways, 3 more days to go..

Remember: R15 classic will always be the legend in 150 CC segment just like CBZ...My thoughts are subjected to personal experiences/internet articles. Please read my comment carefully before replying. :)

yes.. R15 was an eye opener in terms of handling and what a bike ought to be.
I want to steel the sprockets of the v2 to increase my top end..
The new sprockets of the v2 is an indication that it IS making more power..
damn!! I somehow feel threatened!! They will form a different team as 2bhp is very significant!!
So, brothers, pimp your R15s before the v2 arrives

My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Not quiet. Current sprockets @ 14/42 and new sprockets @ 15/47 (hope its correct) suggests that V2 will run slower at same RPM, hence given same engine output, top end will decrease while acceleration will be better. New sprockets is loosing speed by 4.3% where as gaining 4.3% torque.Originally posted by sharingan View PostI want to steel the sprockets of the v2 to increase my top end..

Bad news: Engine performance has no or negligible difference so new sprockets was necessary to compensate for fatter tyres.
Good news: Slightly powerful engine was sufficient to justify new sprockets.
Whichever, we'll soon know.
My hunch, anything between 17 to 18ps as far as new sprockets can tell.

Your point is correct, only if you assume the other setup aspects to be the same as before.Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostNot quiet. We don't know the internal gear ratios. What if they changed all the 6 gears' individual ratios? What if they changed the 6th gear's ratio from 0.84, to 0.75 or something?
Sprockets' size can't give enough data. In any case, more data is required to derive a meaningful conclusion.
Also, the rear tyre being 130/70, if its true, comes out to 91mm tyre height. 11 mm more than before (100/80 = 80mm). Maybe, the low gearing sprockets can be a compensation to this tyre's overgearing too, right?

The older R15 never had a japanese engine, they were made in indonesia. The new R15 with new color scheme had engines which were locally made (indian).Originally posted by ZaM View PostGuys correct me if m wrong...is the r15v2.0 an Indian version? an indian made engine, unlike the the older r15 which had japanese engine?? is this made only for India?
This v2.0 is expected to have locally made engines, but I can't say for sure.
just wanted to clarify about the older R15 rather than the new one
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Had a chance to take a glimpse of the V2.0, Looks like Yamaha has got the message wrong, "Current R15's rear looks puny", so now they have re-designed to make it look like "R15's fairing is puny"
All we wanted, is a bike designed proportionally well on both ends.. Moreover the power output remains the same (+ or - 0.5 BHP) and this is just a cosmetic upgrade.
Soon there would comments like, "the old R15's fairing used to be better" coz, the air vents are quite exposed and looks absurd.
