Re: KTM RC 390 Launch confirmed: xBhp News
+1 to this comment. As much as I love seeing your N300 shape up, honestly I can't afford the ninja at the moment, forget about the mods. But an RC390 in your hands is good news for people like me who intend to buy a bike next year. Show us how potent it can be. We'll be glued.Originally posted by ags1773 View Post
Very true. As i'm in no hurry, would want KTM to not rush and rather give us a proper hasslefree bike or at least minimize it. Am I being too selfishOriginally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Post

Re: KTM RC 390 Launch confirmed: xBhp News
Observably P200 ns was having far less problems compared to d200. So I cannot blame cost cutting as a reason for the lack of reliability. Probably an array of sub optimal design cases (read engineering).Originally posted by berudulom View PostBajaj has been working hard to give us good performance bike at extremely low price. Isn't their effort appreciable
?
Low cost of course comes at a price- Reliability, in this case. But I'm sure The dukes would have been as reliable as any Japnese bikes if it was priced right. Afterall Bajaj too would want a profit from their products, won't they? We don't expect them to be manufacturing world class products and then sell them cheaply. I, for one, was shocked to the core when I read that Bajaj had priced the D390 at 1.8 lakhs at launch. That was ridiculously cheap !! With all the goodies that its comes with, I just couldn't believe how could bajaj had managed to keep the price down. That was a joyous moment for all the common man. People who drooled over the ninja but couldn't afford it, felt that the D390, which could well be the ninja killer in terms of performance, was well within their reach. For this alone, Bajaj DESERVES applause

A year past, we all are well aware of the niggles with D390 but wasn't that an obvious coming?
Bajaj is a new player with this global small displacement performance bike scenario. Give them a chance to improve. Give them some breathing space. I am sure they would only get better as they mature and gain more experience. Sadly, inevitably they'll learn that to keep the enthusiasts happy they'll have to improve on many aspects and eventually the final price would have to go northwards and the common man would be left sad again.
As for the RC390, I hope that Bajaj and KTM gets this reliability issue right. Anxiously waiting for the final product.
N:B- this post is not directed to anyone. I just felt people often undermine home products. Try and see the brighter side.
A happy owner of P200NS and future owner of either an RC390,N300 or R25. fingers crossed
Another thing to remember is the motor us pushed to the limits for a single. Engine is not relaxed at all.
Bajaj should have a nice testing team with test riders who knows what they are doing (in house).
The value for money feel of dukes are amplified by the unrealistic pricing of cbus and ckds due to our sick nations duty and policies.
Not saying that it isn't cheap. It definitely is.when it comes such equipment level. But add another 10 k for quality assurance will make a far better user experience and even better value.
Another sad part is:
As I see old p220 had better quality switches compared to dukes. Dukes switches feels really cheap.
And bajajs own brands never suffered this much quality issues in recent times.
So I am not among those who blame bajaj manufacturing for lofted amount of issues in ktm bikes even if it's coming out of chakan.Last edited by kochumvk; 07-13-2014, 03:55 AM.

+1 to your comment Bro. Duke (200 or 390) is one of the VFM bike im india with pure performance and it is wrong to say that it falls behind quality and moreover nothing is perfect. Regarding switches its same as all the pulsars use.Originally posted by rohitj View PostNot to offence anyone..I own a duke odo is on 16k bought in november..and I travel a lot to manali or shimla even right now I am sitting in shimla n planning to go to hatu and then back to chandigarh by today evening..and I ride duke like anything alwys redlining her in the hills...just to clarify as people are saying this bike has problems it is no a highway bike etc etc...bhai till date not even a single issue faced even my chain set was chngd at 14k..both tyres es also replaced..it is not good to say duke has problems build quality is not good fork leaking problem...I drive on very bad roads if u ever went to kiratpur to bilaspur road u will come to knw hw bad that road is..pulling wheelies doin stoppies...till day no leaking forks...one more thing when I drive her to manali every mnt frm chandigarh to kiratpur I alwys drive at 100+ no engine heating no loss in pickup or any other issues I face...it is true I met othrr duke ownrs whose chain set was gone at 6k..or burnt clucth plates at 9k..but it all depend hw u ride ur bike...n I drive her like I stole her...still my duke is niggle free..maybe this only duke was by mistake niggle free...

No offense to Duke owners.. but, why doesn't the chain last longer? anyone with a Duke for which the Chain set lasted for more than 20000 kms??
I guess people just don't keep the chain lubricated and thats probably the reason for short life of the chain set..Splendor - 2k to 2006
Karizma - 2k3 to 2009
P180 - 2k6 to 2k9
Hunk - Oct 2k7 til now
ZMR - 2010 to Forever
RX135(2k) - 2013 to 2018
Ninja 250R (2010) - 2016 til now
RayZ - 2015 til now
Ninja 650 (2014) - 2017 til now

Re: KTM RC 390 Launch confirmed: xBhp News
Not like that. Even for FZ, it is recommended to change the set at 12k kms. Well it does lasts way longer than that. Chain life depends on way to many factors, lubrication and cleaning being one of them.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostChain set replacement at 14,000 kms?? :-o :-o Holy Cows??

Re: KTM RC 390 Launch confirmed: xBhp News
Bro 14k is a very good number considering our dusty and damp conditions. My duke 200 has done 17k kms without the need to replace the chain set but it needs to be done soon. My 390 on the other hand is going strong at at 6k kms with only one chain slack adjustment done till date. I always make it a point to lubricate the chains every 500kms.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostChain set replacement at 14,000 kms?? :-o :-o Holy Cows??

Considering the power and torque these chains are handling these figs are good and if you compare them with bikes that have non o-ring closed chains then you would definitely feel they last less because of obvious reasons.
News
For everyone waiting for the RC including me, it won't be launched before sept(and may be even late) and this is a confirmed internal news. So, all the news about official bookings and all having started, can be put to rest as of now. I am disappointed, wanted to own it sooner.
Why 2wheels over 4.....
Its because 'Whatever it is, it's better in the wind!'
