Happy to see this happening. No body expected a launch of such vehicles by HMC. Rahul Bajaj would have had a heart attack seeing this happening.

BTW I find it suspicious that the HMC HX250R has the same specifications as the KTM's RC250R used for Moto3 World Championship. Bore stroke, DOHC.....hmmm...

This will put it in direct competition against the soon to be launched Pulsar 200 SS which is expected to be priced lower. However Hero has an advantage as its bike produces 31 BHP of power which is easily class leading in the 250cc segment. Expected 0-100 km/hr to take under 8 seconds while top speed will be in excess of 150 km/hr. I am happy to see another bike coming with Pirelli SD. I hope Pirelli will be easily available now.

its Good move, and if the specs are true in production bike then its surely big leap for Hero , as in terms of power/technology its equals other players.

Now couple of down points in my personal view :

            1. Bike looks very skinny for 250cc [in pics] and feels like something missing, the Diesel concept bike looks like Sofa set chair , rest of the bikes/scooters looks great and Splendor looks really well in those colors.
            2. Bike Handles [hx250r] reminds its will be sports tourer and comfort ride but not sure if the said weight of 130+kg will give any advantage on highway with lot of cross winds+full fairing
            3. Hero's first bike with all these gadgets and hope there won;t be any faults arises many during initial launch [remember, duke, cbr, hyo during first years of launch]
            4. Seems like spec sheet announced has some errors like liquid cooling/water cooling , total weight of bike

            Now Big +++

            1. service centers and well connected network
            2. economical spare price
            3. better fuel economy [considering Hero tagline of mileage]
            4. tension free owning of Hero bike for years

anyway these are my personal views. once bike comes all things will get clear

Though biking for the last 13 years, never had a Hero or HH at home. That is changing now. I will get a damn new one in the next three months.

If the RnT is scheduled for launch in next quarter, will pick up RnT and then a Bull(+ET) in September month. If RnT is delayed a lot, then a simple HC250R will do

Never thought I would say this, but, I love this bike already. Never thought I would sway towards Hero, but that perception is just about to change....Good job Hero..Remains to be seen if it is priced well. 1.5-1.7 will be sweet spot.

Nice to see market maturing, and we are finally getting world class products.

Does anyone have any information on when the hybrid Leap scooter is likely to be launched in India? Keen to check that out and seems like a nice model.

Well done HMC on the HX250R. Simply awesome by all counts.

                        Everybody Missing the Big Picture:

Everybody is going Ohh Ahh at the "Dhoom Shape" of the HX250R, but nobody is noticing the fact that 1st NON-HONDA Powered ENGINE has been put on the HX250R...!!

Eventually Hero looks to replace all the Honda engines from its models... and when it does, that would be the real big test for Hero. Especially when it does it on the Splendor and Passion.

                        New found respect for Hero:

Even though my first ever bike was a Hero Honda (CBZ), I had been one of the biggest critic of Hero. Mainly because it has always been a Honda and not Hero.

With the HX250R my opinion for Hero has shot up drastically. Hero has shown B@LL$ and not afraid to make a statement with a model like the HX250R. Fuel Injection, Liquid Cooled, Full Faired Styling, ABS, 31 Ps from a 250 cc engine.. what more can one ask?

Whether it’ll be able to reach the same level of quality, refinement and durability of Honda engines remains to be seen. It will be nothing short of a miracle to jump straight from manufacturing motorcycles handed down by Honda to making world class machines that will be able to match the same level of refinement and quality like Honda with over 6 decades of world domination experience.

But then my respect for trying and taking the plunge..!!

Hero is definitely using its deep pockets and huge reserves of cash to get the tech from EBR, Engines Engg., AVL, Magneti Marelli but then I don’t see a problem with that. After all it’s Hero’s money.

And one would even think what a blunder they made with the updated Karizma, which reiterates the fact that indeed they're R&D guys were on grass, or is it.

But fast forward a year, and what have we got? I think HERO was watching the market very very VERY closely indeed. Right from the facelifted Karizma launch, I think they intently wanted to see the reaction the bike got and perhaps learn from a so called "test mule" version of the updated Karizma.

After the spinoff, I think HERO has proved the industry that it is indeed "calm before storm" right suits none other than HERO.

The HX250R. Looking closely the front is wider than most bike's rear tire in India +1
The swingarm closely relates to that of the NINJA 650, form plus factor again +1
Underseat exhaust, which is wanted by many many folks here in India +100
                          PSD shod tires >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> +100
                          300mm front brake with 3 pot caliper >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> +100
Styling, especially the Aprilia look undeiably >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> +100
                          Top it off, P2W ratio>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> +100

Now it is still a tubular frame, but where HERO has got the sweet spot is the power to weight ratio witih 223 BHP per tonne which is 80% more than the most bikes sold in India, you can expect very good handling and this being an oversquare you can expect the engine to be rev friendly.

But did you guys forget the Pulsar 375? Mind you, this bike shods a perimeter frame with all the nitty gritty as the same, and even more funkier headlights, and optional ABS. I guess Bajaj wants to keep the tension till Auto Expo. But with regards to 375 , you can expect an even better handling or the same as the 200 NS.

But all said and done, kudos to HERO, for the excellent line up, ostentatiously stylish and the right potpourri.

                          Cheers!
                          VJ
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

The paint scheme is a bit uninspiring. This can be even more looker with better colours.

Looks like Hero paid homage to the ties with Honda by delivering a CBR600RR lookalike. And I don't think it's skinny anyway. And more brawn would mean a porky bike
so I am happy it's light and and proves to be lithe

Kudos to Hero !!! 31ps with a kerb weight of only 139 kgs is a massive thing !!! And the overall looks is also good...but the main thing to check if this Hero engine has the same durability as the Honda's. And if it does, then it will be a killer in this segment...as Hero will obviously keep the pricing at the minimum to target more people..
