I think as good as this bike looks on paper, let's wait for the road tests.
Remember when the duke 200 came along, everyone thought it would beat every performance figures with its(then) insane power to weight ratio. But it didn't turn out to be did it?
People even expected the 200 to give teh Ninja's a run for their money thanks to its non existent weight. But we all know how it turned out.
I think the KTM looses a lot of the 25 Bhp it has on crank by the time it reaches the wheels. The experience and finesse of the Honda's shine here as they have perfected the art of motorcycle manufacturing. Same might(I hope not) be the case with the EBR-hero collaboration.
See how the fireblade still shines in almost every road/track test the mags conduct despite having the least(or second least) hp and no electronics ? I was stunned to see the CBR bagging the number one position in the quarter mile drag in one of those tests. It had the S1000RR/panigale et all as competitors.
And Honda being Honda, will surely find a way to take care of any gap in the performance figures.

So lets wait and watch before writing obituaries. Let the bike first see roads where it can lock horn with other makes.
In the mean time let's doff our hat to Hero, for they have come up with a beauty.
The hero always RIDES into the sunset!

Exactly, I have been harping on this. You really cannot compare R&D of average brands with that of Biggies. The actual scene is different when they hit the roads. This story will again repeat with the upcoming Pulsar 375 too.

Good job hero! What a way to rise from the ashes after the split with Honda. If priced well, it'll be a big blow to the CBR 250. The engine specs are mind blowing and the way they've managed to make a 250cc faired bike weigh just 139kg is nothing short of magic! Though I do have my reservations about the reliability of the motor since this has been developed by hero and EBR and will have little or no Honda DNA in it. Wonder if it'll be able to uphold the bulletproof reliability that karizma helped establish.
I still remember about how a few months back hero had showcased the redesigned karizma r and the ZMR and man were they ugly. I'm sure most us including me resigned ourselves to the fact that hero isn't capable of coming out with a real kickass product anytime soon. And boy did they surprise us with the hx250. I've never liked hero as a company. But I think if they continue with such innovation, people will have to sit up and take notice.

          1. Nobody expected 31ps from 250cc engine from Hero. It looks like parting with Honda gave them more power.

          2. HX is certainly a show grabber but I don't like color combination or graphics at all. Also that wind shield is an eyesore.

          3. I think the pricing will be around 1.9 lac. There is a lot more to this bike than ZMR.

          4. It's very good that Hero launched this bike before Bajaj with new line up of pulsars because now Bajaj will have to re-think the pricing.

          5. Leap and that RNT are overshadowed by HX. TBH I think Leap and RNT are real heros here. Anyone can come with a bike that goes fast but I think it takes some balls to go against flow and bring a two wheeler that runs on turbo diesel engine and a hybrid that goes 340km in just 3 ltr petrol. I will be seriously crossed with Hero if these are just concepts. I request mods to create another thread for these underdogs.

          6. If one can't keep the website up then what's the need to be present at launch? Why is this keep happening at every time? I spend thousands of hours here building posts I've started to think I was wrong to expect the live coverage by this site. I had to look elsewhere for the information. It could barely cope with 300 visitors.

Whoa!!! Looks amazing. After the disappointment of Karizmas what a surprise, and out of the blue too!! I did not come across any spy pics etc... Well done Hero.

Others: Can we please avoid the Bajaj vs Hero debate? Its childish, besides a keyboard war is just a lot of noise. No offense meant

And yeah, hero fans can be happy with this product as they did not just plonk in the engine of xyz company and they avoided all the things related with 'spy pics' unlike other companies.
But one thing to appreciate is that Indian manufacturers are evolving to the next level!!
Hey bro. I hope you know that hero HX250r engine has been developed in collaboration with an 'XYZ' company too. Though the alphabets your looking for are 'EBR'. Erik buell racing if you haven't done your homework.

i think it will be priced between 1.8-2.3 lacs(on road) if they price it less than that , who will be buying crappy looking zmr for about 1.20-1.40 lacs (on road)

Hero please launch an Impulse with same engine.

                      Great going.

We haven't seen the bike in flesh yet mate. even I didn't like the Karizma when it was launched in the year 2003 and I was abusing my bro for booking it.. but when I saw the bike when my bro brought it home after delivery.. I fell in Love with it

like I always say, lets not comment on it before we see stuff with our naked eyes in flesh

also, trust me. The cost of this bike can not and will not exceed 1.75L reason, Hero man. They have all the facility. they have all the raw material which are of High quality.. I trust Hero and I am so damn sure it will not be too costly.. Fingers crossed though

Eventually Hero looks to replace all the Honda engines from its models... and when it does, that would be the real big test for Hero. Especially when it does it on the Splendor and Passion.

Even though my first ever bike was a Hero Honda (CBZ), I had been one of the biggest critic of Hero. Mainly because it has always been a Honda and not Hero.

With the HX250R my opinion for Hero has shot up drastically. Hero has shown B@LL$ and not afraid to make a statement with a model like the HX250R.

Both these companies own the KTM/EBR so nothing wrong in Bajaj using KTM and Hero using EBR and Abhi stop this mud slinging business pls, first it was the ZMA refresh thread and now here, Why are you so much anti Bajaj? The VFM factor which Bajaj has been bringing to masses is simply unmatched. I'd be surprised if Hero would be able to price this lesser than the rumoured pulsar 375 which would come with around 40PS and all the Gizmos which this bike carries.
Even before the KTM partnership, Bajaj never really lost the performance battle especially to Hero, the 220 was still the fastest then. On the efficiency front still their Discover 100 DTS-SI is unmatched, if you dont believe then follow the below link

The point is both the companies have their plus (Quality for hero and Performance with affordability for bajaj) & minus n because of this cut throat competition we end users are getting benefited. so instead of turning this thread too to Bajaj vs Hero lets appreciate both the companies for what they are striving to do.
