Why can't this be an updated R125

One major reason why Yamaha brought in R15 over existing R125 is because of the cost.. R15 if a little costly will be an overkill.. I mean, perfect pricing for R15 was back in 2010.. moreover the USD will be a little more costly..

Well.. I am not talking about 4L.. being an Indian, I won't be willing to spend 1.5L on a 125cc.. hence the logic of bringing R125 to India is illogical! Same goes with the R15.. 150cc bike for 1.5L when I can get a 200cc bike for more or less the same price.. to most of the Indians, greater the cc, they can invest extra money.. less the cc, the cost should be low...

I am not sure about you, but this goes into many minds of India

I am not sure about you, but this goes into many minds of India

Most of the indians like value for money product and its sensible..no point spending a ton on something which is not worth at all...however quality they may give..but at the end of the day its how much value iam gonna get out of that product is what matters to most of Indians.

And our homegrown manufacturers have clearly got a grasp of our peoples mindset. No wonder why R15 doesnt sell as much as it should.

R15 is the best seller in its class, it costs as much as RS200, but if value for money was everything, why does the R15 outsell the RS200 despite being a 5 year old bike(the version 2).

@rreneav1987 I think thats because it was spotted in Indonesia where the 150cc sport class growth is at its absolute peak(Suzuki too entered it with the GSX-R150 recently). There are 0 chances the R125 will be launched there since that class itself is absent there. And moreover, Yamaha India only confirmed the new R15 next year with more safety features too(read ABS). Considering Yamaha R15 was born for India, expect this one to be spotted in India very soon as well.

Well, one reason to why you don't see many RS200 on the roads is because R15 is in the market since 2008.. It has proved itself while the Rs. 200 is a newer bike in the lot.. I see plenty of RS200s in Delhi NCR.. but I don't know the volumes being sold as I don't have the numbers.. Same with the R15, I see plenty of bikes but again, we can't say without numbers..

its way too less compared to ktms and other performance machines such as pulsars and apaches...theres only a niche segment which spend a ton on a 150cc yamaha machine..thats what i said...and the other reason why yamaha has lost its name is because of poor fe...and not so smooth engine compared to honda...

how much are sales of r15 and ktm. you should give data while discussing these aspects. as far as i know r15 sells around 2-3 k units a month. fe on r15 is stellar so is nhv and quality. dunno what are you talking about. even new fz has very good fe.
