Re: All Triumph Motorcycles Sold in India are Detuned .. ?
It is the owners who has to take the initiative. It may be business as usual for triumph but buying a 79ps striple for 9.5lakhs is just not worth. So ppl will think twice. Striple priced at anywhere around 6lakhs will make some sense. And yes, people do forget easily.Originally posted by chinmayakar View Post

Re: All Triumph Motorcycles Sold in India are Detuned .. ?
Anybody and everybody who owns a Street Triple should go to consumer court. They mislead the consumer and as far as simple logic goes there is ample case against them. If the RC mentions bhp and it is of UK spec bike, then obviously the company fooled people here. It doesn't matter what Bike India is saying or denying, if ARAI says it is 79 bhp, it is 79 bhp. And if they never told you that power figure they cheated. Intentionally or unintentionally doesn't matter. Also if Triumph is feeling so sorry, they can always give away an Arrow exhaust to every owner. Problem solved. Though i think owners should not settle down for that and file a case, I am pretty sure a compensation awaits.

I can't stop laughing. Why you think the problem is solved if world's poorest slipon that's worth 34 k is given to the cheated owners? Do you think that's all we deserve.Originally posted by forty6 View PostAnybody and everybody who owns a Street Triple should go to consumer court. Our bikes will fetch far less in used bikes market. Who will pay the damage? Who will give the 106 ps if we settle for the slipon?
Who will pay for the torture we are going through?
And most importantly what about the punitive damage?
Sadly bikers thinks it's little thing.

Btw, what were the specs on the RC ? I didn't think about that earlier and am sure many owners wouldn't have either.Originally posted by kochumvk View PostI can't stop laughing. That could have been one place to spot the figures..
A simple bolt on exhaust is bumping up the power by that much ?!! Or does it come with a new/remap ecu remap or whatever extras?
So is anyone suing them ? If the owners do not hold them by their balls then they will get away.. Someone (or a few people) should be willing to take this up at a more serious level that just venting frustrations online.

Re: All Triumph Motorcycles Sold in India are Detuned .. ?
Some laughter clubs are a little too harsh with members. They end up like prisons. Maybe you should have checked before enrolling. Or maybe better still read my comment a few times. Even the last line. Also, just to clarify, the line your cerebral cortex decided to process was written in reference to Triumph saying that an Arrow exhaust can pump up the power to the UK spec. That line was meant more in a way for triumph than to owners. Like if Triumph thinks that power can be pumped up they should just calmly send each owner a nice and shiny Arrow without a db killer. But this clearly is not just about power, but them telling lies and hence i wrote the last line which says and i quote "Though i think owners should not settle down for that and file a case, I am pretty sure a compensation awaits." I hope this should stop your laughing fit and put society's perception of your cognitive skill on an upswing. Also as penance I would try writing better jokes from next time. After all an uncontrollable laughter is as bad as the guy who cracked the joke.Originally posted by kochumvk View PostI can't stop laughing. Sarcasm apart, hope you guys get a good compensation. Also, try putting pressure in their home market. Visordown carried a story on about this. Go there and comment. Post it on twitter and tag them. Start a petition and ask people here to endorse it. Put your energies there. Cheers.

Re: All Triumph Motorcycles Sold in India are Detuned .. ?
Probably this line was what mislead me. An arrow and map will make 80 Whp bike. A stock bike makes 94-95. So It will not solve the problem. Actually Triumph India was trying to push this Shi* of a solution on us.Originally posted by forty6 View PostAlso if Triumph is feeling so sorry, they can always give away an Arrow exhaust to every owner. Thanks for the suggestion bro.

Re: All Triumph Motorcycles Sold in India are Detuned .. ?
@forty6 I understand you think that Triumph might try to solve the problem by giving After market exhaust. But, it won't happen. Triumph can not choose the way of giving After market exhausts. There's just no question of this move solving the problem:-
1. Who can prove that with this exhaust & ECU alone, the power can be raised to 106 PS or above? Do we even know how the detuning happens? There's no one way to find out.
2. Owners wouldn't want a hassle with Traffic police, or cause noise pollution. How will such owners be ensured justice?
3. This might not solve the problem, in fact, may further aggravate owners to take action. And Triumph has the common sense to understand this.
Because an 32% extra claimed wrongly, isn't compensated by a <5% compensation. Simple maths.
After market exhaust is one's own choice, that a biker undertakes after knowing the benefits, demerits and risks involved. It can't be given by the company as compensation.
I would say, an option between Cash compensation (around Rs. 3 lacs or so) or a bike re-sale back to the company (for a reasonably depreciated amount) would be good enough for restoring public's confidence into Triumph. Its a costly way though so Triumph will never actually do this, from what I guess.
Practically, we might be looking at some cash compensation to those owners, who actually claim in the Consumer Forum.
What about those owners who're not on internet, or who don't care? They might never get justice I guess, but I believe they're equally cheated...Last edited by Samarth 619; 12-08-2014, 04:33 PM.---

Triumph Forum: Triumph Rat Motorcycle Forums
Some owner from India tried to raise it on Triumph Rat forum.
not much help coming from that side I guess.
Also It looks like Bonnie Guys have given up on their beloved ride. There are already two featured in TBHP classifieds , posted in recent times.
Although asking price of 6+ lc, I dont see that happning .Last edited by dustom_99; 12-08-2014, 03:53 PM.You're never lost if ya don't care where the road is headed

Re: All Triumph Motorcycles Sold in India are Detuned .. ?
Go to change.org and make a petition. Pass it on amongst your friends. Direct it to Triumph's CEO. Go to twitter, make something like "Triumph thinks Indians are stupid". The more you make them sound racist the better it is. Then Tag Triumph, motorcycle magazines, your friends, news channels. Make it a big issue. Don't go for things like resale will be affected, how will it be? If all the bikes they are selling are detuned your bike is as good as someone who buys it tomorrow. Just go for the fact that they didn't disclose it. They should have. They cheated. Create a bit of storm, I am sure bikers, on forums like these, will support it. And if you crate a good enough storm on the lines of the white man vs the brown man, everyone will jump in. Remember the crash test controversy, where even though the companies weren't wrong but they faced a lot of heat. That is your best bet, according to me. That and consumer court. Best of luck.

White man vs Brown man? Damn , where do you invent stuff like this.
What happens if Triumph sue you back for defaming them? They published the standard * with conditions applied or mentioned ( EEC, EC) with power figures.
I don't think triumph had Racism on mind even if it was Deliberately done to fool Indians. You're never lost if ya don't care where the road is headed
