Re: All Triumph Motorcycles Sold in India are Detuned .. ?

So here is the information I could gather.

The modification is applicable to the first lot of Street Triple owners. Those who bought their bikes before the new power figures were published. The new bikes will NOT be modified in any way. They will be sold at ARAI certified 79 PS only.[PS:Pferd-Starcke-German unit for horse power]

There are many offers to the owners:
1-Sell the bike to Triumph and get back money.

2-Take 1.5 Lakhs worth accessories and pay ~10k for making it 106PS. The cost of Arrow exhaust and maps will be included in this sum. Which I was told will be ~60k. Sign an indemnity form to accept the modifications.

3-Upgrade the bike to 106 PS. [I think without the money back.] Sign an indemnity form to accept the modifications. Which are out of ARAI rules.

The parts that will be changed are:

    Airbox ducts,
    Vacuum pipe [where is that?],
    Arrow mapping on the ecu,
    Arrow exhaust.
I also remember him saying that the engine will NOT be opened in any case.

This will make the bike louder and upto European specifications. I hope I did not miss any info.

The safest way out for existing customers will be option No.1 IMO. Opting for others would be at one's own risk.

Could you also tell whether your friend had a dyno run on the bike to confirm the improved power figures or is he quoting what was mentioned by the svc?

Exactly my point. How can we verify? It was the svc quote.

            Arrow slipon is 34 k

The intake transition tube is $35

Only way to to verify is to take the bike to a first world country and dyno it on a well calibrated dyno with another global spec bike. With arrow and arrow map it should make 96 to the wheel.

No decent dyno facility available in India as far as I know.

I feel proud to be the first one to suggest to Triumph India to remap the bikes back to 106 PS and close the issue. I feel glad that they have done just as I had predicted...

lol, i hope you know this mod to 'bump up' the figures is not street legal ? It is not like upgrading your pc from xp to win7 !
Would you take on the legal risks involved instead of triumph if a owner faces one ?
I still can't comprehend how a manufacturer can do such a mod and make the owners sign a document and wash their hands off ! If it was a street legal fix or mod, then that's perfectly wonderful, but in this case it is not.
It's up to the owners of the triumphs to decide what they want to do.. live with it, sell it off, mod it etc ..

Why can't you stop making YouTube videos and start a R&D firm?
Its good that you make YouTube videos and any claim or reply can be done inside YouTube itself.

Lets take the rules of motorcycles to ply on road. By factory tune there are some mods that are restricted. But after market mods on a motorcycle is allowed by an individual. That is why it's legal to sell K&N filter and Exhaust. And even after adding all that your bike has to pass pollution test. If it does, then even after the mods it can run on road. But a Company under ARAI regulation can not offer those from Factory. Indian laws closely mirror Euro laws. For companies it is strict but not for individual. Here the company has to mod the bikes and not the individual. To escape the regulation on the company the indemnity will serve as a request by the individual to mod the bike. And the company will accept a token amount and mod the bike. Many owners have remaped their bikes previously from all brands all over the world.
Here the case is special. And it won't attract any legal issues. Neither will this be a problem for any owners. A lot of owners are using arrow by the way. one of my friend already has arrow installed.
Ps. adding so many lols to a post doesn't prove any intelligence.

I do not think the individual thing hold true .
Does the moded exhaust meet noise emission standards ?
In my city loud exhaust are banned so anything that crosses the limit is illegal .
I think Yamaha sold their Daytona kits saying its TRACK ONLY use and not street legal.

Company gets a standard because to limit the usage by an individual or else there is no use of having a norm in first place .

Others correct me if am wrong .

Daytona being your only example, doesn't cover every thing. There are 100s of road legal aftermarket exhausts in the world that are being sold all over. For example the Two brother's exhaust for the same Yamaha R15. I had it on my R15. Now I will tell you the details. Companies have say 30 DB limit. (not actual number) but Max allowed say, 65 DB. So within those two limits the aftermarkets come in. If it crosses the max limit, then it becomes track use only. That is why people can sell those exhausts. Otherwise sale of exhausts would be banned all together.
