  • How has bajaj pulled back the price of P220.
Many of its exclusive and expensive parts Like:
    1. Clip ons.
    2. Foot Pegs
    3. Swingarm.
    4. Shockers.
    5. Front Disc.
All these are now available on smaller P180 and become cost effective due to larger scale production, the cost reduction will be in the range of Rs. 2500 - Rs 3500
Also the Fi system has been removed which alone is Rs 5000 - Rs 8000 reduction in price.
P220 Fi is priced at Rs 86k in Nagpur, And the P220 carb is almost Rs76k
So the price diff in not to the tune of Rs 15k but Rs 10 k.
Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

Definitely not like the Uni.The black of P180 looked same(as the older one) in day time but it gives a bluish tinge on night. The showrooms guys said that even the P150 has the same black.

Yet to check out P220 in real but there is no reason as to why this black should be different from others.

These figures vary for every bike form magazine to magazine. And yes, Magazines are biased. It s upto one's own self as what to take and what no to!

          • Time for some idiotic mod plans for my bike!!

So does anyone know the price of the rearset foot peg set from the p220 carb or the p180ug4 for that matter?
I would love to get them installed on my p180ug3 for more comfort for me as I am 6'1".

            • Though magazines are biased, all of them unanimously concluded this bike to be the performance king.

Regarding the performance figures of new P220, I do not think the mags are biased, at least with new P220. The standards of the testing may be different.

If you take various sources, we can conclude that the 0-60 figures of new P220 to be at 4 seconds and 0-100 at 12.5 seconds, which makes this to be the performance king and the acclaimed "fastest commercially produced bike" in India.

                I agree,

In fact with professional competition amongst (the publications) themselves.. I don't think that they can afford to be biased.

The performance timings/figures would naturally vary between the different publications.. after all the conditions of testing along with the skill level of the testers (not to mention their body weights) would be different. For example even if any two xBhp'ians conduct individual tests on the same bike.. the timings is almost impossible to be identical. Right?

But what I know is that the Zigwheels Road Test of the new P220 was done by Varad More (as stated by themselves on their site).. who happens to be one of the most talented auto journalist and one among the best motorcycle racers in India (he has in fact raced and has won against professional racers in India)

Yes, the unanimous voice of all of them definitely means that we have a new Performance King (Fastest Indian Bike) for the year 2009 here... can't wait to test it back to back with my Fuel injected P220.

By the way, with all the suspension tweaks (& softer footwear) that has gone into making the 2009 P220 a better handler, am just curious what will be the performance of the 2009 P220 this time on the race track.

                  • On track, i have this feeling that the new P220 has actually made to the top of it.

It will even be more interesting to see the position of the RTR180!!

                    • I believe this is a very good move by Bajaj. People will now have the option to go for either the carb or the FI-ied P220 which is a good thing in my opinion!

This particular version of P220 has really got me interested in it for the first time! Yes, it's going to be a great VFM. And I hope that the reliability will be on par with the competition. The pricing in Delhi is unbelievable, honestly. At a touch below 75k, its going to be hard to argue against this bike.

LEt's see, for the first time, I am enthusiastically looking forward for a Bajaj bike

P220 was always a good performer and with decent internal changes especially to the gearbox should make it a much better to ride now. It looks promising.

My guess is RTR 180 will be closer to or equal to R-15 on the track. It will be interesting how the new P220 performs on track. I can clearly see in close-up pics of the new P220 on track, the front tyre compound is soft. This gives better grip on track and we can expect a good improvement over the FI 220.

                            • I think this might relace the zma as the best touring bike in the country.the bike is reliable, more powerful, more torquey, best headlightbean, better fuelefficiency, better speedo better braking , tyres, handling(on straights).

Spares are less expensive and easily available.
