I'm new to this forum, and thanks to all of you for the very wealthy info you are sharing. Will make sure I'm regular here
Some months bath I've booked a monster 796 and got into some trouble with their delivery in Bangalore. After reading Niks posts and all your comments, I finally booked an FZ1 (same white) than waiting for 796 issues sorted out. Seems like I probably made the right choice.
The dealer said I should get the bike in a week's time and I'm excited about it!
Again, hello to all

I have booked an FZ1 in Pune. The dealer told me that I will get a 2012 model by dec. 2011 ( 1st week hopefully) and I can register it in Jan 2012. It's costing approx. 10.30 lacs. Any idea what it costs in Bangalore/ Mumbai etc? Maybe I could bargain with him for couple of k's.
Let me know...Thanks
My bro just got his bike delivered in Kochi, Kerala. We were surprised as we got the 2012 50th anniversary edition bike. We paid somewhere about 9.8 lacs OTR price.
Finally the time has arrived for me to write something on an ownership thread. After a long wait (4 months + 14 days precise) I got my FZ1 on my hands. Special thanks to Niks and rest who inspired to be go after this beauty!
Earlier this year is when the thought started (after selling my pulsar 200) that I need to have a bike which is a bit more on the CC, I really didn't know which one though (thanks to all the showrooms who never give you a test ride for SBKs).
1: Convince my wife
Was pretty easy as my beautiful lady never goes hard on me and I got the permission early on
2: Which bike to buy
Honestly I was clueless here, so started talking to friends and researching on net. It took quite a lot of time to come to a conclusion that which bike I need to go for - and the decision was Ducati Monster 796!!
I went to Ducati Bangalore showroom and booked the white one with a promise that they will deliver the same in 2 months time.
3: Twist 1
3 months over and there was no signs of getting the bike and more over got to know Ducati Bangalore dealer is totally screwed up (bare my language please) with their promise. Their promise date seems like a moving target (well I'm not getting into details as there is another thread which is talking about their issues in detail)
4: Twist 2
I happen to travel to US (for official purpose) and my friend there gave me a chance to ride his FZ1!! I swear to God, back of my mind I thanked Ducati dealer for the first time. This was the bike I really needed, I fell in love with the 4 inline from the very moment. I spoke to Bangalore Yamaha dealer from US itself and did the booking.
5: Saw the bike coming out from her cage!
I don't know how that feeling is, but something similar happened when I saw my baby boy few years back for the first time!!
6: My first real ride
Well not to add much +100 for what Niks has written
Here goes few iPhone pics, I will post some good ones sooner.
Got my motorbike delivered on the 17th of December. Sorry couldn't post pics earlier. So Nik here are the pics...will post more soon...
Thanks a lot...
Have not been able to ride much just about 50 odd kms. Is it normal for the bike to heat up considerably?
Also, i find the clutch a tad annoying specially for slow speed shifting...i guess its a Yamaha Thing..:-)
Heats up a bit but not too much. Perhaps in traffic it must be more pronounced.
The clutch is not a problem but the throttle is; it's like an on-off switch. I'm fitting a PC-V tomorrow, lets see if that helps. Else there's a mod called TRE or TRC which resolves the throttle problem.
