Insurance here depends a lot on your driving history, the type of vehicle you are getting insured, which year the vehicle model is, your credit history, where the vehicle will be parked your age, crime rate where you live, and the level of insurance coverage ( lower deductible or higher deductible) etc.Originally posted by akshay5591 View PostIs the insurance cost of superbikes in USA expensive? how much do you pay per month/year? how does it work there??
So there is no answer to how expensive or cheap it gets. Depends from situation to situation. I used to pay around 80$ per month on my R6 in 2010-2011. I used to pay 135$ when I 1st bought it in 2009. I was under 25 then. Insurance drops once you are 25. Plus the bike became 2 years old in 2010, so the price dropped.
I now pay 150$ per month for the R1. Factors being, its just a year old, its 1000 cc, the area I live in now has more crime rate than where I was living before plus I have a higher deductible. My buddy with the 2008 1000 RR pays 85$ a month.
You can lower our rates say if you have your car or your house insured with the same company." RIDE In Peace MARCO #58"

Those sound like big $$ to me. I used to pay $19 a month for a 2006 Honda CBR600RR (Comprehensive, Collision with $250 deductible). I checked the rates for 2007 RR and they are almost the same may be $20. I have my car insured with the same company (State Farm). I am above 25 yrs. And I live in a small town in PA.Originally posted by Carlitos View PostInsurance here depends a lot on your driving history, the type of vehicle you are getting insured, which year the vehicle model is, your credit history, where the vehicle will be parked your age, crime rate where you live, and the level of insurance coverage ( lower deductible or higher deductible) etc.

I live in Tempe, which is 2 miles from phoenix. Its a college town. Densely populated. Riding weather all year round. Crime rate is at a decent level. And phoenix is a hot bed for the whole illegal immigration debate. I am with Statefarm too. Like I said, if you factor in all the variables I mentioned, the price goes up.Originally posted by cbr600 View PostThose sound like big $$ to me. Update on the Big R.
Some moron dropped my bike while it was parked in my apt complex. It was parked and chained to the parking structure pillar. Broke the foot peg on the right side near the brake paddle. Scratched the exhaust shield. Frame slider took most of the damage and saved the body work. Frame slider puck will need to be replaced. When the bike fell, I guess the frame slider took the blow and bent inwards a little bit touching against the inner fairing. So that part of the fairing is scratched up. I may have to replace the Frame slider mounting plate as well. Will find out once I examine it more closely.
Broken Foot peg

Frame Slider

Scratched Inner Fairing

Exhaust Shield

Also the rear swing arm spool got scratched up a bit. Plus since the chain was on, the rear rim has a few scratches now. Maybe someone tried to sit on it and dropped it. I don't think it was an attempt to steal it. Anyway, I went and put another chain on it now. Really pissed off about this. More once I fix her up." RIDE In Peace MARCO #58"

Sorry to hear that Carlitos. I know how you feel.
I dropped my Monster recently while trying to change the engine oil. The front Padlock stand gave way (my bad, it was not balanced equally on both sides)
My Handle bar took all the blow, bar end is scratched up, along with the gear shifter, its bent
Will try to fix her up on her 2nd service.1) 1999 Suzuki Samurai

3) 2007 Baja Pulsar DTSI 200
4) 2008 Yamaha Gladiator 125cc

Jeez, hurts to see your pride and joy dinged up. Thankfully its only cosmetic and minor.Originally posted by Carlitos View PostSome moron dropped my bike while it was parked in my apt complex.
Have you considered installing a motion sensing camera in your parking area? That would deter any vandals/morons/thieves, etc. and give you more peace of mind.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

Nope. That would be extreme man. The logistics of doing something like that just dont work out.Originally posted by n_aditya View PostJeez, hurts to see your pride and joy dinged up. Thankfully its only cosmetic and minor.

Yep, Bike alarms are available. good ones for about 300$, they have tilt sensors, so the moment the bike is straightened by taking it off the side stand, the alarm goes off. I might invest in one of those. But worry, a sudden alarm going off might lead to the thief/moron/vandal freaking out and in the process dropping the bike. I know its a long shot. I am considering an alarm though. But I think my mistake was not covering the bike that night.Originally posted by akshay5591 View PostArent there bike alarms which u can put on the bike?? i have seen few people having it in there bike..it will sound an alarm if a bike is moved little bit..there is also remote locking of the bike like a car..
Thanks man.Originally posted by cbr600 View PostSorry to hear that Carlitos.
